    Duck Char xiu Pork belly
    Tan N.

As much as I wanna support new restaurants. Place was OK. The inside was extremely hot and no ac was on. Had to change my order to to-go cause how sweltering it was. We got the triple meat combo. Duck 2/5 - skin crispy. Meat dry and tough Char siu 3.5/5 - not consistent. Sole fatty meaty pieces some dry. Pork belly - 4/5 probs best meat. Flavorful juicy. Skin was not thick and crispy though. Slightly crispy and thin

Again. Gave them another chance but STILL so DRY! Roast pork, soy sauce chicken and BBQ pork. Good luck Wong BBQ.

What a blessing it is to get some good chinese barbecue in the sugarland area. Flavors are on point. The barbecue pork(which is warm!! not like other places where they serve it to you cold on top of hot rice) is the star of the show!! Making this a core spot in my lunch rotation. Thank you for the great service and the lady at the front is very nice. This place has everything you want out of a solid hk style bbq joint.

Deep fried bird nest noodles or soy sauce fried noodles, hard to tell!

The crispy pork belly was not crispy. The meat portion was tiny. The soy sauce fried noodles were different from other Chinese restaurants. The noodles came out crispy, like eating bird nest noodles. The biggest turnoff was using plastic plates, bowls, plasticware. We won't come back!

One Meat Bento with Char Siu (BBQ Pork)

My coworker was telling me about Wong BBQ so I absolutely had to go, even with the mediocre reviews, and boy am I glad I did! The char siu (bbq pork) was seasoned well and super tasty! Not the powdery seasoning I get from other bbq places.. I ordered a bento box on UberEats and could agree that some pieces were kinda dry, but it's really just lean cuts of meat. I went back to the actual restaurant and the lady was super friendly and asked if I was more lean or fattier pieces! I told her fattier and she delivered the best she had. I agree the chopping isn't what I normally see with Chinese bbq, a bit smaller pieces, but I didn't mind it. The bento on UberEats was a bit pricey but I ordered 1.5lbs of meat and it wasn't so bad. A large order of rice was $3.50 a box! Place was clean.. there's a few seats inside if you want to dine in and there's a more extensive menu than the traditional Chinese bbq. My coworker tells me the crispy skin pork is delicious as well.. will have to try their other meat options next time!

The portion of meat is way too small--$12.99 for this little? I dined in when they first opened and the portion was decent, but this time I ordered to-go and it feels like they gave about one-third less meat. This shows a lack of professionalism and integrity. Not recommended.

Whether it was weekend dim sum or an evening Canto feast with fresh seafood, I was simply thankful for the option. Now that option is toast since Regal closed last month. Looks can be deceiving. The exterior makes me think of a fitness joint more so than a Cantonese spot. Stepping inside is a complete contrast, with a mix of specialty murals, modern decor with a contemporary edge. There were plenty of large group tables, which made this place perfectly ideal for a feast gathering. Bathrooms were also clean, but this is the only place I've seen that had ice cubes all the urinals. (#1) Dim Sum was solid. The highlights for me were their stir fried XO rice rolls, which had a nice char and some good flavor. The Malay style rolls were also suprrisingly good and I felt strongly about their bbq pork puffs, durian rolls, and glutinous pork dumplings shaped to look like pears. The shrimp dumplings, beef balls, and spare ribs were average at best, I was also very impressed with their overall variety and the fact they had an extremely defined picture menu. The Canto speaking staff was friendly and the parking was plentiful. While the food wasn't all a hit, I do think there was some potential, which was not realized in the end. I am sincerely hoping another Canto spot will emerge in the Land of Sugar. __________ (#1) Yes, really.

Price - for dim sum, we've paid roughly $26/person, but that included tax and tips. So that amount is arbitrary. It depends on how many dishes you may order, and keep in mind that we had a lot of left over food though. We also had a whole duck in this price, so not your typical dim sum order. I imagine it would be less if we would just stick to dim sum only. 3. Ambiance - this place is industrial looking. Modern and pretty hip. It's not massive. Not sure if it's the same owner as the previous Regal on 59. But it's a smaller footprint than the previous location. Dress code here is casual. 4. Food - I will say that the dim sum here is legit Hong Kong style dim sum. This is delicious and not greasy. I really like their CHA-SIU-BAO (BBQ Pork Buns), HA-GAO (shrimp dumplings), SIU-MEI (Pork and Shrimp dumplings), and Egg Tarts. Because it was our first time there, we wanted to try out their roast duck. It is also very authentically made. There are definitely other dishes that were good too, but these were the few worth mentioning. 5. Cleanliness - Dining area appears clean. SUMMARY - I recommend this place and will likely return for more dim sum in the future.

I'm glad I did not read the reviews from my trusted sources and Yelp friends before I went,…read moreotherwise, I might not have gone. But for me, this was some of the better dim sum I've had recently. Yes, you're in a grocery store lobby, so to speak, and yes, there's not much atmosphere other than the people streaming by going into that grocery store, but the three items I ordered (black bean ribs, har gow, shu mai) were all solid. I'll be back.

What it lacked…read morefrom the larger, traditional banquet hall vibe, it made up for in lack of pretension and lots of focus on the quality of the food and service. Sadly, it seems like those days are long gone as the latter is on a downhill slope. Has ownership changed? (#1) I'm not sure, but so much else has. There's no tea offered, but bottled water. Service and the kitchen staff is a mess where it's most evident during their busiest hours. At one point, Cantonese was spoken but it also seems that's no longer the case. Previously the food was passable, but now it's near abysmal. Siu mai was hearty, but fairly bland. The same applies to their spare ribs (排骨), beef balls (牛肉球), and steamed glutinous rice in leaf (糯米雞). I felt their custard buns (奶黃包), fried stuffed crab claw (釀蟹鉗), fried glutinous dumpling (鹹水角) and the turnip cake (蘿蔔糕) were dried out. While the shrimp dumplings (蝦餃) and rice rolls (腸粉) mostly passed the test, it needed lots of soy sauce + condiments to be worth it. The only winner was their beef chow fun (乾炒牛河), where the beef and ho fun noodles were tender, while also being adequately greasy. The bonus bits of fried egg within were a nice surprise. While the prices range from $3.75-$9.70, a majority of it will average out to be $5-6 a dish. This isn't a terrible deal per se, especially during these times. However, it is a big price to pay for service issues and sub-par quality dim sum. While I'm hopeful that they'll rebound and I hope the Joy returns, but I don't think I will. __________ (#1) FZ / FJ peeps, where ya at?

Very heavy handed with salt even though the person in my party that placed the order specifically told the waitress to tone down on the salt. We also asked for no MSG but they turned to sugar instead so the dishes were a little altered beyond recognition. Specifically, I ordered their Szechuan peppercorn beef. As far as I know, this dish is always all savory and there should not be any sweetness. But, when I took the first bite, it was mildly sweet. Weird! Looks like for the rest of the dishes that has sauce, they used the same dark colored sauce; so, they tasted the same. Not a lot of imagination and creativity in their cooking. SERVICE: They are quite attentive in this area. So, I would give them 4 out of 5 stars in this area. VERDICT: Would I return? Probably not. When it comes to Chinese foods, the dishes need to be superior in their taste. You really need to have skills to survive as a Chinese restaurant.

BF hosted a major get-together for friends and chose this gem as the gathering spot. No regrets all…read morearound--everyone thought it was a great place to eat, catch up, and spend the afternoon. Malaysian Grilled Chicken Satay - Super tender with a sweet peanut sauce that really accentuated the flavors. Probably my favorite appetizer so far--had to be extra careful around my BF after this! Definitely my brother's personal favorite; I'm sure he ate 3 of them! Hainanese Chicken & Rice - Very tender and chewy with a mild flavor. The ginger-and-scallion sauce at the bottom was very refreshing, and the aromatic rice was among the most delicious I've had! I saw that the grains looked similar to Vietnamese broken rice because they weren't fully rounded. For some reason, this made the texture so much more appealing to me. Curry Chicken Puff - Love the curry flavor of this and the delicacy of the puff pastry. The shell isn't too thick, and the vegetables are very well infused with the curry, making them strong contributors to the overall flavor. Despite it being a pastry, I didn't feel overwhelmed by the carbs--indicating that the breading-to-stuffing ratio of this sat at the perfect pinnacle. Malaysian Roti Canai - One of my absolute favorite dishes here. I would come to this place just for this--the whole table compared the combo to crack. No joke. The chicken and potatoes are some of the most tender pieces in this dish, and you could slurp the broth like it's its own dish. I watched this go way too fast, and even two orders per table were not enough to satisfy the crowd. Malaysian Roti Canai (w. Egg) - Love the original much more, but this was still very delicious. They made the egg very thin, so it didn't overwhelm the roti. The egg took away from my favorite roti taste, but it was so well seasoned I wasn't even that angry about it. Malaysian Char Kuey Teow (Migoreng) - OOH. This has a unique flavor--much more savory than packaged ramen. The texture of the noodles is very inviting. It's much less salty compared to the pre-packaged Migoreng. The flavor was more umami. Rich, deep, and just the perfect amount to coat the noodles. Stir-Fried Mixed Vegetable (w. Tofu) - This is a very saucy vegetable dish, but I didn't mind it at all. I loved it, though it was the last dish I had and I was definitely stuffed by then. The sauce reminds me of a thinner Migoreng sauce--more viscous than a loose sauce, but not as thick as Migoreng. Very good, but my taste buds were definitely overwhelmed at this point. Malaysian Milk Tea - Not as sweet as I expected. I was told the tea leaves were imported from Malaysia, and our table ended up ordering six of them. The lingering bitterness in the aftertaste is something I'm very fond of, and the tea flavor is exceptionally rich. The milk infusion in this is peak. Malaysian Lime "Calamansi" & Plum Drink - Tasted like a lime-tamarind drink to my BF, while my brother and I thought it tasted like Vietnamese chanh muối. Overall, Uncle Chin's lived up to the hype, just as I knew it would from the day my BF brought home leftover roti from his very first visit. The buzz of having 16 people definitely distracted me from paying close attention to every dish--I even missed taking a few photos--but one thing remained true: everyone was talking about the food. Every time a new dish came out, the table erupted with commentary about its flavor, uniqueness, and overall impact. Some dishes stole the show more than others (my lovely roti, hello), but every single one earned its place on the menu. Very sad we didn't get to see Uncle Chin sing, but with 16 people to serve during the lunch rush, I'm sure he was pretty overwhelmed.
