Awesome little coffee shop. Bright and cheery atmosphere, pleasant employees! The coffee is amazing, espresso is smooth and beansavailable to take home. The bakery had the best sweet scone I've had. Including my own. I've stopped daily during my visit to Bayfield.

Wonderstate Coffee is the only coffee shop in Bayfield. I stopped here a couple times while on winter vacation. The shop was chic with detailed white ceilings, wooden accents, beautiful pants, and festive decor. There was plenty of indoor seating and even a sofa area with a small selection of books. The staff were friendly. I ordered a mocha and a cinnamon streusel coffee cake. I was disappointed that my cake wasn't warmed at all but I got my order within 3 minutes of ordering. The quality of the beans is clearly there, and the drinks are thoughtfully prepared. That said, it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. Overall, it's a decent coffee shop, just not a place I'd go out of my way for. If you're in town, Wonderstate Coffee is worth trying.

Cute coffee shop with delicious drinks and free and strong WiFi in Bayfield WI. Only a couple blocks from the marina, it was a nice place to relax while we waited for our tour of the Apostle Islands. Service was excellent - friendly and efficient. I asked for a lid for my iced espresso drink to take it to go, and they even offered to add more ice since it was so hot outside.

Right before taking Apostle island ferry, I went in for a coffee. This place seems to be super popular. And there was almost one person making tea/coffee. I ordered a pandan rose latte and waited for 30 minutes, and still didn't get it. Finally I abandoned latte and ran to catch the ferry. I ordered a Wiishkobi bakwezhican muffin. Muffin was really good. I guess latte would have been good as well.

Nice little spot with lots of seating. Really loved their cold press, the espresso was kind of average.

This was my first time at a Wonderstate cafe after having their beans at home, & I loved it. The cafe itself is super cute, with a coastal vibe & lots of natural light. There are big, happy plants everywhere, which made it cozy. I had the best iced oat milk vanilla latte of my life, like it sounds silly but it was SO GOOD. I thought they'd mixed up my oat milk for regular milk, because it was so creamy & delicious. I also tried a savory scone (bomb, so crispy & chewy), & some of my husband's cardamom cookie (think the best molasses cookie you've ever had, but it's cardamom). The baristas seemed chill but not overly warm; I respect it honestly, but it was a bit frustrating when my friend had a credit card issue & they weren't the most helpful. Anyway, that being said, these folks make delicious drinks & food, which is what counts!

The maple latte was bomb, the cardamom cookie was unique and delicious and we loved sitting at the counter checking out Rittenhouse Avenue

We were recently visiting Bayfield and had to stop by Wonderstate because of how much we love the coffee in Madison. Unfortunately they were all out of the drip coffee when we arrived, so we ordered Americanos instead. Normally we like their drip coffee over the espresso drinks, but these were done well. Additionally, we ordered the bagel sandwich, which has egg, caramelized onion, cheddar, and herbed aioli and the soup of the day which was sweet potato curry. You can choose between a plain or everything bagel and can also add bacon on the sandwich. I did mine on a plain bagel and it was very tasty. The components balanced well and I'm always a fan of caramelized onions on a bagel. I wish they would bring this sandwich to the Madison cafe. It was especially good dipped in the sweet potato curry or with the addition of the truffle hot sauce that they had sitting out. The sweet potato curry was quite thick in a good way with a good flavor. Staff was very friendly and we're happy that we stopped. It looked like the place is pretty popular as it was pretty full when we arrived, but that could also be partially because its one of the few places open on a Monday for lunch. We will definitely come back if we're in the area again.

Maple latte with oat milk next to the lake

Probably one of my most favorite coffee shops EVER! Faves on the menu include: maple latte with oat milk, honey bee latte with oat milk, savory cheese and chive scone, raspberry scone, and blueberry fields smoothie. Honestly everything is good here - both the baristas and bakers know what they are doing and the staff is always really friendly. Bonus is that you can see the lake from the seating area! They also sell really cute mugs, prints and other goodies as well as their beans. Grab your coffee and breakfast goodie from Wonderstate and head down to the waters edge to have the most perfect morning ever on the shores of Lake Superior.

Wonderful experience as always, Wonderstate! The coffee is delicious and service is pretty quick for how busy they are. I love the iced vanilla bean oat latte!

Please allow me to present a contrasting opinion…read more To be clear, I love pie. I'm a pie over cake kinda guy. In part, my love for pie has to do with pie crust. And I do realize that reasonable people can disagree on pie crust styles. In fact, my wife and I are two such people. I adore an all butter crust. I love the flavor of butter and how those milk solids get all toasty up there in with the flour to delivery amazing caramelization, crunchy edges, and a crisp bottom. The missus prefers a more tender crust, and that is what Gourmet Garage delivers. So she was happy, but I was left wanting. I also happen to have a super sensitive palate to the off flavors that can emerge from something spending a bit too long in the freezer. My wife, not so much. So she didn't notice those flavors in the crust that further diminished my joy in the pie. L'sigh. We got the pie hot out of the oven. Patiently waited for it to cool down enough so that it wouldn't melt the plastic fork provided by the bakery. The off flavors were there for me at the start, and they persisted as the pie continued to cool down. While we saw the bakery used frozen fruit, as one must to make some off season fruit pies, the freezer flavor was most present for me in the crust. That was the biggest let down of all. After a while I just couldn't bring myself to eat any more. The caramel pecan roll was better. No off flavors. But on that I would have liked to see the roll itself be more tender. Perhaps when fruit season is in full swing and GG is hopping, the crusts are fresher and the pies are better. Regrettably this was not my experience in mid June. Disappointment with the food aside, service was lovely. While the pies weren't quite out of the oven when we arrived first thing in the morning, I deeply appreciated being advised how many minutes out the pies were from being done, and the bravery of taking a blazing hot pie and putting it in an open box so we could have one for the road.

Thank ordered a GF "wild rice burger" and they knew enough about their gluten practices that they knew to tell me the fries were in a shared fryer. They put it on a GF bread also. When I got my "burger" it seemed like it was just shredded beets mashed together in a patty shape. I don't like beets, but it was actually quite good. The aoili sauce that was with it really brought out a delicious seasoned flavor. I actually asked about for more sauce to eat with the beets that spilled out of the sandwich and she told me that it was wild rice mixed with the beets. The menu just wasn't very clear at all (I thought it would be ground beef mixed with wild rice! ha!) My kids split a waffle which they said was delicious, the bacon was tasty and thick, and the fried rice had really good good flavor with a good mix of texture (husband and kids both really loved it.) One thing : it was an order at the counter type place and they charged us the tip when we paid for the email upfront. Kind of weird but maybe something you have to do to get staff to work on an island in this kind of workforce. Total meal price was $64 for three plates and two coffees. A bit on the expensive side.

Different shops can have their own style, but if you refuse to serve a well crafted drink in something other than paper, that's an issue for me. Especially when the proper cups are right there! The cortado was good, but hard to fully appreciate or evaluate in its sad little paper cup. My family was happy with their drinks. And the outdoor space is simply magical.
