Great service and the pasty's are always yummy! My favorite is the Irish pasty! They offer frozen or fresh!

Since we have German heritage in our blood, this little shop caught our eye. As you walk you, you are jettisoned into a little piece of German heritage and fun. European candies, specialized kitchen gadgets, Christmas decor, or just the kitschy German/European gift, this little shop packs it all in. It was fun showing my kids the Christmas decorations and explaining to them why we have them in our home. They were finally able to put two and two together of why I put up nutcrackers, smokers, and Christmas carousels as holiday decorations in our house. Now, you might be thinking that I missed out on the most important part - cookies and chocolate (its right in the name). We did sample each cookie and their homemade chocolate covered marzipan. Each selection was super tasty and you could tell they were baked fresh and with love (and real butter). They took my back to some of the cookies my German grandma used to make during Christmas time - pure nostalgia trip. We even picked some cookies up to bring back to my parents so that they could remember by grandmothers cookies as well. Nice to have ways to remind us of people who have moved on. Fun store to look and to purchase a little piece of Europe. Its almost like taking a short vacation... almost. =)

The highlight is everything at the counter area. There are a variety of chocolates and delish baked treats to choose from. Last time I was there they had a peanut butter s'mores that was excellent. Also caramel filled cupcakes that I didn't get but I was VERY tempted. I have tried the cookies and they are great, several variety of chocolates and other treats to try. I have yet to have anything I wouldn't get again. Beyond that there is a selection of candies of the gummy and Taffy varieties. Along the back wall are maple syrups, caramel sauces (highly recommend!), Preserves I think, some little knickknacks etc. They also maybe have ice cream and serve some food at various times? I have yet to try any of that, but I'd expect good things. In addition to all that, they take requests. My husband ordered a French Silk pie for my birthday (it is my favorite) and despite having not made one before (so I was told) she signed on and whipped one up. It was fantastic! So be sure to check the place out. It's a cute store with awesome treats. As they say, Treat yo self!

Yes, we had to wait since the ice cream treats were made by hand and there was a line of kids & families waiting at the window. I'm an adult and we can wait our turn. It was a treat to try their special of the day (in honor of the Superior Vistas Bicycle Ride) of Ice Cream Nachos! Glad we decided to split one-it was too much for one person!

It does a pretty big business for Ashland though, I've seen this place with a line wrapped around to the other side. You can also get ice cream cakes too! I'm pretty sure the same people own the one in Ashland and Washburn, so if you are looking for a Dairy Queen with chicken or burgers, you can just drive to Washburn! But, if you like hot dogs and are looking for a quick cold snack, this one should suffice perfectly. This Dairy Queen is also kinda cute.. in an old way. It really is just a hut like building on the corner of a busy street. You walk up to the window and the people inside make what you order, then hand it back to you. There is a couple picnic tables outside, and a couple (not too many) places to park in the lot. Other than that, there really isn't anywhere to sit and enjoy your ice cream. It is truly a stop and bring it home kind of place!

And then u have some ice cream for dessert but not this one we stopped on our way out of town for a quick bite but was sadly informed that oh it's only ice cream?!?! Which if I wanted just a cool treat great lets do it but we were hungry so we left and went to culvers on our way out. I have learned that they are also not open all year round due to the lack of an indoor area to order or eat so if it's hot sunny (not racing you might get wet) and u want some ice cream it will work out for you.

The afternoon we were there, it was extraordinarily blustery outside, with dirt being whipped around town as their major through road area was under construction. We parked our vehicle and walked a block or two to Coco, where we got a hot beverage to sip on while enjoying the hot blueberry turnover that had just come out of their oven. It was sooo delicious! Flaky pastry folded over generous, intensely-flavored blueberry filling. The experience brought me right back to childhood memories of eating the frozen ones made by Pepperidge Farms that you baked in the oven at home. It was the rare occasion that my mom bought a box or two of them (there were 4 per box, and there were 5 members in my family), most likely, when they were "on sale" at a local grocer. The decor inside the place was very colorful, quirky, funny, awesome! Will make it a point to visit this place again when I'm in the area!

After waiting in line for 20 minutes, we were only then told that hot food would take nearly an hour. That's something the line should be updated on every few minutes so people can decide whether to wait or not. The staff were very kind and efficient, and the girls with intolerances were happy to see such a large variety of options. They definitely need a bigger space to handle weekend rushes, but I get it, small town charm. The food and drinks we had were pretty good and overall fine, aside from the wait and the last minute news about the hot food. Would recommend for the people with intolerances but keep in mind it might take a while!
