Just bought a rhubarb raspberry pie the other day and it was amazing! My husband and I finished a whole pie in less than a day and a half! First - the crust is the best one I've ever had. Very tasty with some crunchiness and not too sweet or bland - just perfect. The filling of rhubarb with raspberries was a perfect match very tasty while not too sweet. Please allow me to present a contrasting opinion. To be clear, I love pie. I'm a pie over cake kinda guy. In part, my love for pie has to do with pie crust. And I do realize that reasonable people can disagree on pie crust styles. In fact, my wife and I are two such people. I adore an all butter crust. I love the flavor of butter and how those milk solids get all toasty up there in with the flour to delivery amazing caramelization, crunchy edges, and a crisp bottom. The missus prefers a more tender crust, and that is what Gourmet Garage delivers. So she was happy, but I was left wanting. I also happen to have a super sensitive palate to the off flavors that can emerge from something spending a bit too long in the freezer. My wife, not so much. So she didn't notice those flavors in the crust that further diminished my joy in the pie. L'sigh. We got the pie hot out of the oven. Patiently waited for it to cool down enough so that it wouldn't melt the plastic fork provided by the bakery. The off flavors were there for me at the start, and they persisted as the pie continued to cool down. While we saw the bakery used frozen fruit, as one must to make some off season fruit pies, the freezer flavor was most present for me in the crust. That was the biggest let down of all. After a while I just couldn't bring myself to eat any more. The caramel pecan roll was better. No off flavors. But on that I would have liked to see the roll itself be more tender. Perhaps when fruit season is in full swing and GG is hopping, the crusts are fresher and the pies are better. Regrettably this was not my experience in mid June. Disappointment with the food aside, service was lovely. While the pies weren't quite out of the oven when we arrived first thing in the morning, I deeply appreciated being advised how many minutes out the pies were from being done, and the bravery of taking a blazing hot pie and putting it in an open box so we could have one for the road. read more

Amazing little place just outside of town. Wonderful selection of donuts and other baked goods. I got the maple caramel pecan sticky roll and it was absolutely incredible. Surrounded by beautiful flowers, trees, and other plants. read more

Don't let this small nondescript building with its tiny dirt parking lot fool you. Here is the Best pie ever! Fresh and the crust was perfect. Get there early enough and your pie will be warm. You can call ahead and reserve one for the next day. They also have a small selection of mouth watering delectable rolls, turnovers, cupcakes etc. read more

My husband really wanted an apple pie and me being from Bayfield said that's the perfect place to get one. Hello Apple Fest! I'd seen this sign since I was in grade school but never really stopped. So, on our way out of town we did! The ladies were super nice and so helpful. They also had a bunch of selections for pies. A win for us! Daniel got his apple pie and photo with the famous sign. Coming through and returning back through Bayfield WI we stopped at this wonderful pie place. Right off the road in this little house is the pie shop from heaven. We had raspberry rhubarb on the way and raspberry peach on the way back. Both made that day from fresh ingredients and a tasty flaky pie crust. Oh and it's a lovely town too. read more

This place is literally right of the road and says "PIES" but somehow we still missed it! A local told us about this place. Pies are available by the pie not slice. I called ahead and reserved an Apple pie and it was hot and boxed up for me! It was delicious! I'll return. We also had a turnover which was light and tasty! Will return! read more

I like to think of myself as a pie connoisseur. If a restaurant offers homemade or locally made pie, I'm ordering a slice or two. If I visit a new part of the state or country, I make an effort to find the place with the best pies. Berry pies, apple pies, cream pies, nut pies, I've tried them all. I happen to drive by Gourmet Garage on a recent trip to Bayfield and immediately noticed the large "Pie" sign out front. Of course, I had to stop. It's a small shop with a display case full of pies and other goodies. I noticed their pies looked similar to a slice I had at a local restaurant (the Copper Trout). (Actually, it was two slices: one raspberry rhubarb and one blueberry. Both were amazing. I had never had raspberry rhubarb before and it's now one of my favorites.) I asked and they confirmed they do indeed supply pies to the Copper Trout. I immediately bought out their supply of raspberry rhubarb pies. I also purchased a strawberry rhubarb as well as a blueberry coffee cake. The coffee cake was ridiculously delicious. Seriously, it was amazing. I love coffee and crumb cakes almost as much as pies and this cake was one of the best I've ever had. We also ordered two turnovers: one raspberry and one blueberry. They were also amazing. Light and flakey, just like a turnover should be. I froze two of the pies and plan to enjoy them in a few weeks. I also plan, prior to my next visit to Bayfield, to call the week before and order a dozen (at least) pies to take back home. I may consider buying a chest freezer just to store pie. They are seriously that amazing. read more

OMG! If you are in Bayfield, WI you have to stop at Gourmet Garage & but a pie or two! If I lived close I'd be in trouble. It was the best apple pie I have ever tasted! I make pies but not an apple pie as good as this. My husband & I actually ate dinner at a great restaurant called the Copper Trout in town there in Bayfield that was phenomenal too. We had a piece of apple cranberry pie there for dessert. It was so delicious I had to ask where it came from - Gourmet Garage. On our way out of town we made it a point stop. We ate the pie for breakfast in the car that day & for lunch in the car the next. Needless to say our family got none. I wish we would have picked up a couple more! read more

We were in town for a couple nights and the kids needed something quick for breakfast. We searched "donuts" and the Gourmet Garage came up. My daughter and I got a couple turnovers, some cinnamon rolls and the maple covered apple fritters. The cinnamon rolls were amazing as were the fritters and the turnovers. Best pies I've ever had, one of my favorite parts of vacation is getting to devour some of Judy's delicious treats! Brownies and peanut butter Reeses cheescakes are among my favorites but there are so many more delicious wonders to try!
