I was hoping I never had to leave an updated semi-negative review...
Everything still stands from my previous review- my nails are gorgeous!
My problem is the scheduling... The last 3 visits (and my last 3 attempts) I've been everything but happy.
I make my appointment every 2 weeks with Hank, the owner of Wonder Nails. He is a wizard when it comes to nails and because he is so good, EVERYONE wants to do their nails with him. I like to be one step ahead of the crowd, but that always fails... My last 3 visits (including this weeks), my appointments with him have not worked out in my favor.
The first time, he was no where to be found, so his wife sent me to another man who was available. He was good, but WOW did he butcher my cuticles! It wasn't even the machine that he did them with, it was the nail filer. I couldn't believe it.
The second time, I received a phone call from reception asking if I could come in 15 minutes earlier for my appointment. She called me at 5:45pm and my appointment was at 6:00pm. How am I going to come in 15 minutes earlier if you are calling me 15 minutes before my appointment?! Anyways, when I got there Hank was no where to be found AGAIN. He left and I did my nails with his wife. Don't get me wrong, she is great at pedicures and waxing (love the way she did my eyebrows), but I'm not a fan of her nail shaping, I like mine rounded. At the end of this disaster, my nails looked like platypus feet. I couldn't even complain, because I just didn't want to have to sit there again and have to explain again what I wanted.
My third appointment and LAST attempt, I was greeted by Hank. He was finishing up someone else's nails and I noticed a woman waiting. In my head I swore up and down that she better not be waiting for him because I came in for my appointment. He instructed me that I would be doing my nails with his wife and I looked at him and said, "You're not doing my nails?!" He laughed and asked me to do my pedicure first. His wife was going to do my feet. I grabbed my color and sat at the pedicure chair and waited... Boy did I wait. FIFTEEN MINUTES! What I didn't know and what they neglected to tell me was that his wife (who was not busy and just sitting there) was not doing my pedicure, the woman next to me who was still working on another customers feet was going to. SERIOUSLY!? Thank goodness I had my nook, because I didn't get started on my nails until 7:20pm. That's almost an hour after my appointment time. Now don't get me wrong, I'm never in a rush when it comes to pampering myself, but I hate to stay at a place that I know will be closing shortly.
Hank finally did my nails. I had to show him a picture of what I wanted- a more almond shaped nail, because again, mine looked like platypus feet and I am not over exaggerating! I don't know if it was because he knew his wife did my nails the previous week, but he kept insisting the picture and my nails looked the same. NO.
I ended up finishing past 8pm and past closing time.
Unfortunately for this place, scheduling appointments are so unreliable. I need structure and I will not be returning.
Farewell Wonder Nails, we've had a semi-great run. read more
