The bar is nice and there is a decent selection of beers. The problem our party had was the bouncer. We were there for hours for a birthday party and were having a great time. One of us got up to take a photo. Not even leaving their seat, just stood up with the phone and security came running over like a football line backer. SIT DOWN, SIT DOWN, YOU CANT GET UP WITHOUT YOUR MASK!!! There was no hey, even if you are still at your seat, you still need to have a mask on to stand up or we might get in trouble, no, he came over yelling. An hour later, with no one causing any trouble, a few people decided to leave. One of our guys, being a gentleman, stood up and turned around to grab one of the girls' sweaters and the security guard, who apparently had no job other than to watch our group, came running over yelling SIT DOWN!! The guy tried to say, I am just grabbing her sweater, NO SIT DOWN!!! After that the entire party decided to leave. Of course I get to my car and can't find my phone. I go back to the door where there is a decent line forming and say, hey I was just in there and I can't find my GET IN THE BACK OF THE LINE! I don't think this guy has any other volume than full blast. Luckily my friend picked up my phone for me on the way out but any time I pull up and see this mongloid man child at the door I will keep driving. read more

This is a soccer-oriented sports bar just outside of Armory, situated in an early 20th century firehall next to the Courier Building and City Hall. European beers on the menu offer a nice alternative to Syracuse's numerous other craft beer halls (Clark's, Blue Tusk, Empire, WOB, etc.). On my first visit I sampled the Bitburger Pils and the Warsteiner Dunkel, both wonderful. Not much by way of a food menu (yet), but free peanuts to shell on the floor and a free Hoffman hot dog with the purchase of a liter-size beer (about $11-12). Tons of TVs & the barkeeps were not shy about changing the channel for us when we wanted to watch a hockey game. Service was extremely quick too, despite it being an insanely busy Saturday night -- their first, too. I got the impression that not only do these folks know what they're doing (this is their 3rd location), but they aren't so attached to their shtick that they ignore their customers. YES.. finally a place in syracuse that has a good selection of german beer! This place is the bomb. When you walk in it's like you are in someone's backyard/barn area. They have a ton of long picnic tables and seats at the bar. They put out baskets of peanuts on the table and you toss the shells on the floor. They have TV's and a dart area. We saw a couple with a dog in there (not sure if all dogs are allowed) but it was fun to see. The staff were super nice and it was a relaxed atmosphere. The beer selection is huge and I cannot wait to try them all. The prices were great, $5/7/13. $13 being a liter. On your birthday you get a free 2L- I can't wait to go here on my birthday! If you order a Liter they give you a free hoffman hotdog. Beyond that and peanuts I don't think they serve food but that's ok, i'll make sure I eat before I go, but hopefully they will add some sort of food (that will make me stay all day). Great place to go watch a game. During SU basketball NCAA tournament runs, the atmosphere can't be beat. I've also been here in the late morning to watch some soccer games - and although it's not quite the crowd as it is for SU basketball, it's a fun time. On normal weekend nights, this is a good place to meet up with a big group as it wide open and has long picnic-style tables. Keep in mind that it is cash-only. read more

Cold beer and peanuts in standing room only. Reminded me of a college bar... divey atmosphere, peanut shells all over the floor, drunkies stumbling about. .. Can't complain about but nothing to write home about either. I really enjoy this place. I love the picnic table vibe and that you can bring your own food. The beer is decent but they also have a full bar if that isn't your thing. The crowd tends to vary so there is something for everyone. It can get crowded, which can be fun! If you are not down with the crowds I would recommend watching a game elsewhere. read more

Biergarten is always a fun atmosphere during games! Don't be fooled by the name, they also have a small selection of wines and cocktails. You can bring your own food which is great. They do have peanuts on the tables and some of the tables are also ping pong tables. People are allowed to throw the peanut shells on the floor so be prepared to step on shells while you are there. The bartenders are very friendly, fun and outgoing. The bar is also active in the community outside of the actual bar through golf tournaments, volleyball teams, etc. This place is very very casual and has some outside seating (picnic tables). This place does get very loud, especially during games. They also have a shotski which is very fun during celebrations! Many places like the pedal tours or bar crawls add this bar to one of their stops for obvious reasons! On your birthday you get a giant boot full of beer for free (1 liter)!! I have walked by this establishment a couple times in the past, but finally made it inside last weekend. The weather was nice and we got to enjoy it as we sat at a picnic table right next to an open door. They had a good selection of beer and the free peanuts were a welcome addition. I didn't realize they didn't have an actual food menu. They also only take cash! It's a nice hang out and they're open Sunday's unlike a lot of the places downtown. read more

This place is GREAT. I went the last two fridays for happy hour (and soccer) with friends to celebrate (and reminisce) and couldn't have been more satisfied-- we all had a great time. The Biergarten itself is an old firehouse and has a lot of character. It offers ample seating, big tables, flowing pints, and delicious complimentary peanuts (that are consistently refilled). Without soccer on the screens it was very easy to move around, and although it was busy, service was prompt and helpful in selecting. With soccer on, it was a bit more difficult to move around the bar (but people were pretty cordial still), and service was still prompt. Overall, we all enjoyed the giant flowing pints (one of us enjoyed the birthday boot!) and atmosphere. As another reviewer said bring cash. And if you don't like peanuts, or hoffman hotdogs, eat beforehand. read more

Great place. Friendly staff.Reminds me of Germany minus the peanut shell floors and the high prices. It makes up for high cost with a free pretzel or Hoffman hot dog and European Soccer games on the big screens. Has no business advertising as a soccer bar. Went to see MLS Cup final, most of the screens playing NFL games. Had to leave at halftime. People in baseball caps loudly shouting, people taking selfies and playing darts. Makes watching soccer very unpleasant. Cant hear anything either. If this is what it's like for a cup final I pity anyone who comes here for a normal game. Also they do not have the food on their website just hotdogs and convenience store nachos the bartender does. Oh yeah and there is a dog wandering around that will try to get at your food- not joking got a hot dog and their giant dog like stuck it's nose right up to the bun as it was being prepared. It kinda looks the part but they should stop calling themselves a soccer bar because there seemed to be like 3 other soccer fans there for the final, and everyone else was a goober NFL fan. Waste of time coming here for anything other than watching NFL and acting like a meathead, it's really just a typical sports bar except for the huge dog that puts it's face in your food. The manager Ryan Powers is very unprofessional. We planned a gathering of about 15-20 people for a birthday celebration and we planned on going to this establishment because of their advertisement that says the birthday guest of honor gets a free boot of beer. All 20 of us were there and asked Ryan about the boot for the guest of honor and he said "nope, can't help you his birthday was yesterday". We explained to Ryan that people came in from out of town and we were all looking forward to hanging out all night if the guest of honor could get the free beer boot. Ryan the says "absolutely not, nope, you can stay or leave I don't really care, I get 12 groups of people like you a night". We were all taken back by the pompous attitude and rudeness by the manager. Its a shame because they lost a lot of business because of his attitude. We are all adults and understand rules are rules but the approach of the manager was shocking. Syracuse doesn't need businessmen like that here. read more

Best bar in Syracuse in my opinion. Good beer, good atmosphere. Sucks some jerk decided to complain about the dogs that was one of my favorite reasons for going. Masub was a wonderful bartender, as was Charlie. Both of them took care of me, pointed me out while I waited for drinks, and got me my drinks in te.tje atmosphere of the beer garden is fantastic, just watched the euro finals and despite how busy it was I was served quickly and accurately. Staff is friendly, guests are great, and they allow your dog to hang out if it's not too busy. Love the relaxed atmosphere when there isn't a game on, but could see myself enjoying the rowdiness when there's a match. read more

Wolff's is not only an incredibly fun place to spend the evening drinking delicious beer, but their staff is wonderful! In my attempt to watch an MLS game last week amidst the chaos of March Madness, the manager Ryan not only opened up a TV for the game, but after finding the game wasn't playing properly, spent over 30 minutes on the phone getting the game on!! The bar was insanely busy, but he took the time to help my friends and I- one of the best things about Syracuse, and about this bar.
