Have had many different kinds of cheese accompany a hot dog, but this was just shameful. Imagine ordering a cheeseburger (from the same part of the menu as the hot dog) and getting a small sprinkle of shredded cheese in a cup... And for $1. Hot dog itself was delicious, bun was good (only thing keeping it from great is that it was an end piece, not my favorite). Chips plentiful.

Location, location, location. With outdoor seating right on the water, this is the perfect place to sit outside on a sunny breezy day and grab a bite to eat at lunch time. We love coming here to watch the boats. There is also indoor seating. Outdoor seating is dog friendly and the server brought our pup water (without us asking!). Service was very fast and staff was all very friendly. Menu is simple (grill cheeses, hamburgers, sandwiches, and some fried seafood options) but perfect for lunch. We had grilled cheeses, hamburger, BLT, and club sandwiches. The waffle fries are great. All the food we had was very good. They also have a side window for to-go ordering as well as some picnic tables.

Beautiful view of Wolfeboro Bay with outdoor seating. Chowder was perfect. Waffle fries great too.

Dockside will always hold a special place in my heart! It is a staple for me and my family. It's a small, casual, and inexpensive restaurant that sits right on the lake. Steps from the town docks, it can be reached by boat or by car. The food is always excellent, and the service is even better! They have the best waffle fries, without a doubt. Whether you're looking to grab a quick lunch or dinner, or even treat yourself to ice cream- Dockside is the place to go! You can take out or sit in. While I love Bailey's Bubble, Dockside's ice cream is on a completely different level of amazing... their S'mores tastes exactly like s'mores and their "Mint Summers Night Dream" is the perfect mix between chocolate and mint. Definitely worth trying if you're in town!!

Dog friendly back patio. They brought our pups water a few times. The fish and chips were good, but the lobster roll was very, very good.

They once did whole chicken which was pretty perfect outside on the old patio. Pretty much impossible to undercook something you smoked for hours but very easy to dry it out, and it was great. Actually brought the whole fam there that day including our dog. It's petfriendly outside. They have three main beers that you can always get, and then about another 3 beers or so of rotating and experimental beers/ciders. If you want to get an idea of the staff this is from my first visit there a few years back. I actually think this was towards the beginning of Covid. We had to get out of dodge and enjoy some relaxation by the lake. When we showed up everywhere we drove by the spots we normally frequented and everywhere was closed, sometime near 8 pm. We did a search and found that here was open and headed over as fast as we could to try to get something to eat. Unfortunately the grill just closed, and we resigned ourselves to a liquid dinner. The chef then pokes his head out and offers to make a pretzel for us, and we could not have been happier. It was a big one too. The staff was just so welcoming and seemingly very happy that we were there... which is not always the case in the general area... that Burnt Timber became one of our usual spots instantly. Each time we've been back it has always been that way, which is even more rare not just here but back in the Boston area as well. So again if you like smoked and fermented things in an unpretentious atmosphere with very friendly staff I'm pretty sure you'll love this place too

I'm going to assume it was the bartender, who was shockingly rude, sarcastic, and disrespectful, to say the very least. Not my first experience with this bartender either. The bartender's and server's at Wolfe's Tavern are absolutely horrible. They have reprehensible attitudes and are colossally rude to customers. I asked for a simple clarification of their operating hours. This man was indignant and impolite, calling me out for bringing a discrepancy to his attention!! Uh..what?! I've been a resident of Wolfeboro, NH, for 70 years. This establishment once stood as the landmark for elegant dining, professional and competent administration and staff, and was respected throughout the Lakes Region. You once had an Executive Chef named "Hoke" many, many years ago...a quintessential gentleman with great culinary expertise, who frequently would come out of the kitchen, go table to table, introduce himself to all the patrons, and ask them if their meals were up to their liking. This man "made" The Wolfeboro Inn, almost singlehandedly. When he resigned because of a difficulty with management, the place plummeted...nearly overnight. Fast forward to August, 2025, and it is now worse than ever. I'd recommend Dunkin' Donuts on Center Street, or The Bay Diner on Main ahead of here. It's no wonder today's bartender refused to give his first name...no doubt fearful of this review(!) or one in The Granite State News, aka "The Grunter."

If you are in Wolfsboro and are looking for lake views, this place will suit your needs well. There is no parking and the public lot behind is always full. Prepare to circle a lot ... or find creative spaces. Paralell parking on the street is quite a chore as once you go behind the spot and try to back in, its almost impossible. The food here is average ... or slightly below. I had the worst $26 clam strip roll I have ever had. It had 4 clam strips ... yes, only 4!! Basically, it was a mountain of fries, a plain hot dog bun (not even butter toasted) and a small cup of mayonaise covered cole slaw. The fish and chips are okay ... it looks better than it tastes. Appetizers are nothing to write home about, although the seafood chowder was the best dish any of us had, loaded with clams, potatoes and fish. We found ourselves pondering the menu as nothing looked incredibly good. The views are what you come for. On a nice day, the early 2000's 'wooden everything' decorated interior is not where you want to be seated. The upper deck area naturally has a long wait ... but great waterfrobt views. They have a lower deck as well, which is covered. Slightly less remarkabke views as you are at water level. The waiter was great. Lots of good suggestions and wasn't obstrusive. It's hard not to want to give this place 4 stars for the service and the views ... but the food is just so dissapointing, 3 stars is what it really deserves.

My wife decided on their macaroni and cheese with grilled chicken while I decided on their chopped Mediterranean salad, adding salmon. I asked that the salmon be blackened and rare if they could do so. When are meals arrived? My salmon was grilled and dry and unfortunately, my wife's chicken was dry as well. Not sure why they couldn't do rare salmon and had to overcook the chicken. That said, my wife's macaroni and cheese actually had some great flavors to it and I truly enjoyed the Asian chop salad.
