Medium raspberry chocolate chip frozen yogurt $4.74
    Susan B.

We usually avoid RT 16 on the weekends but here it is Tuesday and it almost 90° out. Stopped in for some "hometown" ice cream. It is from Bliss Dairy. Huge portions for the size and price. I had a medium cone of Black Raspberry chocolate chip frozen yogurt and it was just $4.75 and a small dish of cherry Rocky road. They are also known for their fried foods and lobstah rolls. That'll be for another day. Ice cream did not disappoint

Great service and atmosphere! ice cream: The pistachio ice cream tastes like the classic pistachio liquor flavor, i love it. Cookie dough ice cream is good too. Birthday cake was yummy if you're into that. Medium twist with chocolate sprinkles was dang tasty. Grape Nut was great too! food: great fries The mt. washington hot dog was awesome. The chicken parm sandwich was good but the sauce was a lil sweet. It had lettuce on it which was hot and yummy.

    The ice cream selection.

We had lobster rolls the other night and they were very good. Had to come back and get ice cream. Lots of flavors. I was really impressed. The ice cream picture is a small cone. We waited to see if anyone ordered a medium or large. Everyone that came in for ice cream ordered a kiddie size which was the lower scoop.

    TACO DOG!

Hot dogs are really good and pretty inexpensive. You can even add on fries for 1.50 which is definitely worth it. I always get the taco dog. Ice cream is good as well, I recommend the cookie ice cream sandwich which is very cheap and just enough food for a snack after dinner. The subs are pretty expensive for what you get.. 6 dollars for a chicken parm when all you get is a single chicken finger in a sub roll. The sauce was good, but there wasn't enough cheese on it for my taste. They just added these this summer so they might still be experimenting. I would definitely recommend this place for hotdogs and ice cream.

My local tour guide reports that this place looks just like it did 30+ years ago when this was the post little league reward stop. It's held that standard for a long time people: road side ice cream, hit dogs, hamburgers. This is what it is. I like that I was asked if I wanted my hot dog buns toasted & that soda comes in cans with a cup of ice on the side. (I think canned is better than fountain for quality control). The deluxe hamburger at $4.75 was fantastic. I equivocated and got the $4 Mt. Washington dog in an effort to increase my live food intake. (Sauerkraut) but wish I'd done the burger, cest la vie. I want to give 4.5 stars bc those fries were skimpy, yo but I'm giving 5 anyway to even the score from Amy who must have hit this joint on a bad day. This place is clearly one of the regular employers of local teens & for that and many other reasons is worth your time after a hard day of vacationing or little league!

Best ice cream I ever had claimed my 10 year old son, weary from traveling, as we pit stopped on route to North Conway. Burgers, hotdogs and fries also served at this no nonsense window-service joint equipped with screened in porch-patio picnic tables.

The bartenders and service staff are always on top of their game and are above average to say the least. The current ownership seems to have the traffic at a higher level than the past, causing much disorganization when things get busy. They could better manage and better serve everyone by having reservations during their heavy rush times. Because they don't, the staff has more work managing the long wait vs. having more time to process table turnover. In addition, they don't take reservations, but they place a RESERVED card of a 6 chair high top every weekend night. I've seen this table empty for hours as customers wait an hour or more in the foyer. If you're looking for a nice sit down dinner during peak dinner hours, there are other options. I'm sure it's a great landing spot for early afternoon dinner. Edit: The owners response on May 15 2026 stating that they allowed reservations was incorrect. As of today, May 22nd, they announced their "New Policies" which were posted on Facebook which states that they are taking reservations which in my opinion will improve the dining experience there.

This place popped up with several great reviews, so we gave it a shot. The food definitely delivered! We ordered the sampler (with double chicken tenders and potato skimmers), two orders of mozzarella sticks, and the mac & cheese with ribs. Everything came out hot and packed with flavor. We even got onion rings which we didn't order but were happy to see. Total comfort food and worth the wait. I also had the Painkiller cocktail, which was strong but definitely hit the spot. That said, service was slow across the board. It took a while just to get acknowledged, then more time to get drinks, even more for the food, and the bill took a while too. They were clearly busy, and our server Jen was friendly and attentive when she was with us, but the wait times added up. The atmosphere felt very "homey" kind of like a small town hangout where everyone knows each other. As someone who rocks an afro, I definitely stood out, the place lacked diversity and that was noticeable. Still, we didn't feel unwelcome, just very aware of it. Overall, it's a cozy, homey spot with great food. Just go in knowing it might be a slow-paced experience, especially on a busy night.

Seriously It's such a shame to have such a prime location in a vacation town and not have a clue how to service customers. Get educated on the service industry please. I will school you for now .... It is obvious you cater to locals and town type people but what a MISSED opportunity to capitalize on different types of vacationers June - Aug not locals . Vacationers with money (TO SPEND) You WILL see us yearly , so obviously you would try to remember them and treat them accordingly We are not going anywhere we have a cottage on the lake The staff must not be about their money I don't get it Big L for PPP. New people coming to the area please go across the street to Tumble Down for a nice drink and bite with good service. And BTW - No one is looking for Boston type service in Wakefield NH so your bar isn't even that high

They once did whole chicken which was pretty perfect outside on the old patio. Pretty much impossible to undercook something you smoked for hours but very easy to dry it out, and it was great. Actually brought the whole fam there that day including our dog. It's petfriendly outside. They have three main beers that you can always get, and then about another 3 beers or so of rotating and experimental beers/ciders. If you want to get an idea of the staff this is from my first visit there a few years back. I actually think this was towards the beginning of Covid. We had to get out of dodge and enjoy some relaxation by the lake. When we showed up everywhere we drove by the spots we normally frequented and everywhere was closed, sometime near 8 pm. We did a search and found that here was open and headed over as fast as we could to try to get something to eat. Unfortunately the grill just closed, and we resigned ourselves to a liquid dinner. The chef then pokes his head out and offers to make a pretzel for us, and we could not have been happier. It was a big one too. The staff was just so welcoming and seemingly very happy that we were there... which is not always the case in the general area... that Burnt Timber became one of our usual spots instantly. Each time we've been back it has always been that way, which is even more rare not just here but back in the Boston area as well. So again if you like smoked and fermented things in an unpretentious atmosphere with very friendly staff I'm pretty sure you'll love this place too

The people at the bar were making fun of others as they came in, making us very uncomfortable. The beer menu was very small. We understand that can happen with a small brewery. We tried one beer and the cider. Both were very light and almost had no distinguishable flavor. My husband's burger was delicious. My nachos, which were cold, had very little topping and arrived well after his burger. The restroom was not very clean and had no toilet paper. We won't go back.
