Even with all that going on, our food still came out quickly. Now, the not so great ...an ice tea was over 5 bucks after tax. It was maybe a 12 ounce cup. It was very good, as it should be for that price. However, I went to the counter and asked for a refill. "That will be $5.27, please". Excuse me? Say what? You're charging 5 bucks for an ice tea and you can't even get a "free" refill? That's ridiculous. Needless to say, I didn't get a refill. I had water instead. That's why they don't get 5 stars from me. Everything else was pretty perfect.

The Cream of Potato soup was rich & filling with chunks of potatoes and bacon in a thick and creamy cheddar broth. The staff came out of the kitchen to ask how the food was. It's a little dark inside, and neat clean and tidy. The decor is pretty dated and a little on the feminine side. The staff checked on us and others a couple times to see how things were and to see if we needed anything else - nice touch for a place where you order and pay at the counter. We ordered sandwiches - I had the Monte Cristo which came with 3 small apple slices and my husband ordered the Turkey Reuben on Rye, also with 3 small apple slices. Our food came out pretty quickly, freshly made to order. I love Monte Cristo sandwiches, and this one was the first I've had made with honey mustard dressing. It just didn't seem to go with it, in my opinion, and I'm glad I asked for it on the side. The sandwich itself was average, although I think it should be named something other than a Monte Cristo. My husband's sandwich was pretty good. And it turned out the apple slices were actually a nice accompaniment to the sandwiches, even though you only get three and they're very small and thin. They do not turn over tables quickly here. It's a diner folks, and if you can't get eggs out quickly, how do you make money? It's back to George's for us. I have to say this really pissed us off. My dining partner tips 20 bucks on breakfast, and had done so the day before, so though a different server, you think she'd be aware he's a very good tipper and it's a good idea to take care of him.
