Love this place! A colleague and I checked it out about a month ago. We had attempted to visit the spot next door, but that place was far too noisy and rambunctious for a casual, conversational liaising. Ultimately, Wolfe Tone's turned out to be the spot for us. We also happened to notice that many folks who originally intended to go next-door would ultimately find themselves here. The staff is awesome; there's new management and they make it a point to take care of their customers. It's hard to say if they're going out of their way to rebrand, or if they're all just genuinely that friendly. But who cares? Regardless, our experience was great; we immediately decided we'd take our next outing to the same spot. Two weeks later the folks at WTs remembered our drink orders from our previous visit and made it a point to say, "Hello!" Just for the sake of *trying* to find something to criticize, I will say that the music can be a bit loud depending on where you sit. Very minor. Perhaps great for grinding a few hours later, but slightly less-so for casual chat right after work. With that said, however, I think we accidentally sat ourselves near the speakers the last two times. I wouldn't avoid this place for this reason - just consider what you're after when you walk in and employ a little situational awareness to seat yourselves accordingly. We're going back for a third time this week - we'll probably continue every two weeks. Live music, great staff, fair prices, fine seating, and the drinks are on-point. What more does one really need? One of my favorite bars in NYC. Been here dozens of times for food, to watch games, have drinks, etc. Always an amazing experience. Chelsea is one of the bartenders and you have to make sure you track her down because she has made every occasion here so much more fun. Experience here was a little weird. The Irish dude who worked the bar was sort of funny but strangely disturbed we were there. We started with the calamari, which was barely warm, and the coconut shrimp that was pretty good. The bartender recommended the chicken pot pie, which one of the three of us ordered, but turned out to be absolutely bland and a huge disappointment. Fish and chips weren't anything special, and the fish batter was very bland, although the fish had a nice taste. Can't really mess up fries that came with it. The bangers and mashed were another recommendation by the bartender, and the only score we had here - Mashed and gravy were wonderful and the sausage was a really nice addition. In terms of drinks, the beer was just eh. On tap we tried a Pilsner, which was really sour, an apple cider, which had strange tart but spicy flavor. I came to this place last weekend after a failed brunch experience at Pranna. To be honest I am so happy Pranna didn't work out because it led me to this great spot. I'm a very big fan of Irish pubs and as soon as I walked in, I loved it. It's bigger than most pubs in the city size wise, but felt so cozy and quaint. The bartender sat me and five of my girl friends at a high top table in the back. The brunch was $25 for a meal and unlimited mimosas for 2 hours. At Pranna, ONE pitcher of mimosas was $20. You can't beat this deal. The food was delicious. I got a cheeseburger with Irish bacon. The last time I had Irish bacon was when I was in Ireland and this one tasted practically the same. The service was fantastic. Our drinks were never empty for more than five minutes. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back in the near future. read more

Have an office in the neighborhood and had been meaning to stop by for sometime now and finally did. I think I have to echo other comments here with respect to poor service and overpriced beers and add a couple of my own. First, upon walking in and ordering at the bar, besides recognizing its decor was a perfect rendition of a terrible 80's bar, we immediately noticed that the smell of bathroom cleaner permeated the entire establishment. You know, the blue, porta potty stuff. In addition, the happy hour beer selection was lack luster with the exception of Carlsberg which they had run out of. No hookup for something normal, not even one... I'm typically not this picky, but since I'm putting it out there, the bartender re-used our glasses. For 8 bucks a pop, I think each drink should come in a clean glass. Lastly, when I asked for the check, the bartender was generally awkward. The entire experience which we could only bear for two beers was completely unwelcoming start to finish. Couldn't get outta there quick enough and am never going back. Caveat emptor. read more

We came across this place after a business dinner on park avenue. I have to say I was in no humor to continue drinking after dinner but I'm glad we wandered into Wolfe tones. There was a DJ playing a great mix of 90s and he played a music quiz and we won the prize. I had the guineas and it was surprisingly good and my friends all had martinis. I noticed that alot of people were ordering food of which, looked and smelt great. I'm glad we came to this place and will be back again next week to play another music quiz and enjoy the good atmosphere. It was alot of fun read more

I visited Wolfe Tone's while in New York on business. The place is perfect for a few rounds of drinks or some pub food. The bartender Matt was great. My second night there, he remembered our names and even the drinks we wanted. He gave Wolfe Tones's that familiar neighborhood bar feeling even though I am from out of town. This is my go-to bar/pub for almost anything. Excellent lunch (the burger is one of the best I've ever had), good for after-work drinks, great late-night spot (kitchen open late), perfect for sports (NFL, Champions League, NBA, whatever). The kitchen is great, and the ever-evolving beer selections are good. The bartenders are tops, and the manager is always keen to improve, so feedback is always welcome. Best Pub and Kitchen in Murray Hill/NoMad, NYC. 37 East 29th St. I've been living Manhattan for 30+ years and lived in many different neighborhoods. Suffice it to say, I know places that are crap to excellent. Excellent bars/Pubs are rare. Many are decent to good to even great. But Wolfe Tone's is excellent. Why? Very friendly, welcoming staff. Bartenders: Chelsie, Nadya, Javi, Baker. They don't just give you your drink and move to the far corner checking social media or go texting. They engage in very interesting conversations with you if you want it. Prices are excellent as well. Not cheap but not expensive. It's never too crowded except on amateur nights (Thrs./Fri.). So, it's truly relaxing to just stare at the screens and zone out. Also, handful of "regulars" who are chill and engaging as well. Minimal Tinder dates. Food: real Irish food plus wings and things. Wolfe Tone's is a true gem in the heart of Manhattan. read more

What more can you ask for? This place has amazing food especially their shepherds pie (be cautious it sits heavy), great service (especially Devony, Chelsea, and Javier), and amazing atmosphere. The drinks by themselves are a reason to stop by (try the gin gin), but the service just makes me wish there was a sixth star. Chelsie and Javier checked on me the appropriate amount as I hid in the corner eating and working on my computer. Once I migrated to the bar, the conversation flowed naturally between everyone present, regardless if we knew each other. This place knows how to make you feel at home, it makes you feel as if the bar, its staff, its customers, everyone inside is a part of their family. I waited till my third visit to post this because I wanted to make sure it was an authentic experience and wasn't a one off. Sure enough it was real! This is now my regular spot and I have a 40 minute commute to get here. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by and try their specialty drinks and appetizers! read more

When you walk in, you're greeted by a moist, sour smell--mildew, maybe? The smell welcome makes up for the bartenders who are hesitant to actually take orders and/or acknowledge your presence. Only had a draft beer, and my partner turned to me and said, "can you get sick from a beer" [as in it had a very stale taste--like perhaps they need to refresh their tap lines]. A great Irish bar with delicious food and a handsome Irish bartender

Yummy falafel sandwich. I got lost on my way here and was hungry when I arrived. There was a falafel vendor outside and I almost bought a falafel from him. I bet it would have been good. Instead, to my surprise, they have falafel on the menu at this place. It was very good! The falafel balls are home made ... But they should be bigger. I like my balls bigger. The taste of the dish was high quality. The sandwich had hummus (also home made) and sliced tomato and cucumbers. And it had cabbage for a nice crunch and texture. I would reduce the tomato and add a little more cabbage. Maybe marinade the cabbage a little bit more. Overall it's a high quality sandwich for a reasonable price, especially in this neighborhood. The taste and flavors are right there. Yummy. And I got my choice of salad or fries. Nice touch. Much better than the weird salads they serve across the street at Tavern 29. The food at Tavern 29 is pretentious and overpriced. Don't eat there. Eat at Wolfe Tone's instead. I have been here 3 out of the past 4 days. Friendly staff and fun people. Yesterday they had karaoke and I'm disappointed I missed it. Keep up the good work! And thanks for the top off. read more

I'll never understand why bartenders spend more time talking to their friends and less time taking care of paying costumers. By they time he finally got me a second beer I should be on my third. I was looking for a place to chill after work. I don't think this is the place. If I was the owner I would be concerned about the money being left on the table. I would have eaten and had more beers, bur was ignored. Plus I am so sick of bars over charging for beer and giving an inch and a half of foam. They make huge profits on beer fill the damn glass. I'll be more inclined to return if I don't feel like I'm being ripped off. read more

Bar tender from hell - We arrived 10minutes before 11 and were stalled by the bar tender until the late night menu kicked in at 11pm. We asked for burger's without onions and chicken fingers with ranch and honey mustard and received burgers with onions and chicken finger with only ranch. It was clear that the bartender couldn't have cared less! He disappeared before the food arrived and didn't show back up until we signaled him to get the check. As for food quality the chicken fingers were the worst I have ever had. FYI - this is my 1st yelp review since I started using this service 2yrs ago. That's how bad it was!! read more
