We stopped in here to get out of the rain and watch the end of the Oregon game. Nice big screens on the wall. This is kind of a dive with a very mixed crowd. Slow service. Lots of domestic beers. Chicken nachos for $17. It did the trick but nothing remarkable. read more

Tried the fish and chips, buffalo chicken spring rolls on our first trip. 2nd trip was steak (med. rare) and their Sunday pasta of the day and glass of wine. I don't recommend the fish and chips, batter was soggy, but fish and tarter sauce were good. Buffalo chicken spring rolls were yummy and a different take on rolls. The steak was cooked perfectly, along with our two sides of baked potato and onion rings. Very tasty, I would order that again! The pasta of the days was a penne with chicken in a cream herb sauce...I'm going home to figure that recipe out, delicious! I even used the sauce on my steak (they don't serve horseradish...) and it was soooo good! Long Island iced tea was Uber strong, only needed one! read more

I can't tell you how much I love this place and how happy I am to have found my "Cheers" bar.. you know, where everybody knows your name?! The owner, Jimmy, is such a great guy who really cares about his customers. He wants everyone to feel welcome and to have a great time. All the staff members I've met are incredibly friendly as well! If you're ever going to a show at Gotham Comedy Club this is two doors down in the perfect spot to hit up right before or after the show for a couple drinks and some delicious food. Typically barfood isn't very impressive but the chef really knows what he's doing. I'm vegan so I ordered the vegan burger which was so delicious and surpassed my expectations. They even make their own vegan aïoli that I could drink from the cup! I don't know how they made a Beyond burger so exceptional (I've had at least 100 by now) but it's clear everything is super fresh and made with love. My friends got a mix of fried apps and said everything was excellent! Can't wait to come back! read more

This is a second location of the original Jake's Saloon. It is a classic pub/Irish bar. Wooden tables, wooden bar top, and bar chairs with backs. Well the last part isn't classic. A stool without a back would have been classic. But the ambiance is exactly as you would expect it. During football/basketball/baseball any sports games really, you'd expect a more rowdy crowd. Beers on taps are standard. The bartender was cordial even on a slow night. Sometimes what you expect of a place is exactly what you came for. In this case, I came for a glass of water but also for a brew. Win. read more

Myself and the boys were painting New York City red one night, and had this place as a stop. It was a fun little bar! The people that both worked in here, and the patrons were very friendly. Everyone was in a very cheery mood. This is the kind of bar you can go into and easily make friends. The cocktails are tasty and the beer selection is fair. We didn't try any food and just stuck to drinks. The place itself is pretty big. It has a dining area behind the bar. Come the late evening time, it gets pretty dark in there. Drinks are fair priced and not overly priced for Manhattan. Overall; good place to grab a drink and meet some people. I think I'll stop by again next time I'm in town. read more

I almost forgot that I had been to this bar once years and years ago I think for a burger and a beer with the ladies. Came back in recently when trying to find a new bar to go to with a friend/date(?) Operative word. But the place kind of has a certain charm to it. The Irish bartender is plenty nice. It's super dark. Not many people. The draft selection is mediocre. If you get any of their house ales don't get the wheat one. It's a terrible lemony rendition of Blue Moon gone slightly bad. But I also don't love Blue Moon. Their house red ale is a lot more palatable but then again their prices aren't amazing and come in around $7-8 these days. When forced to order bar food we went with their jalapeno poppers. I was expecting cream cheese to ooze out and was pleasantly surprised it was at least cheddar. I kind of like the place but it had a 'I'm in my late 40's and have no friends where do I hide myself from the world' kind of vibe. read more

Went to Jake's Saloon last night with a bunch of friends for March Madness and it was exactly what you look for in a sports bar where you can actually move and talk to the people you came with. The owner Jimmy is the nicest bar/restaurant owner I've ever met and made a point to learn all of our names. The food was fantastic bar food, the drinks were strong, and plenty of TVs to watch games - great for happy hour or weekend spot. Ordered the lobster ravioli to-go. It was $18 for legit 5 pieces of ravioli (see the attached picture). That comes out $3.60 a ravioli. Seriously?! And they were cold! They tasted ok. Party of two for after work bar night with my baby boy, we ventured nearby to Jake's Saloon for a look - see of their alcohol. For Him: Long Island Ice Tea It was weak according to my friend and from my little imbibe it tasted like grapefruit juice from the acidity. For Her: Cabernet Sauvignon wine It was average but got me very tipsy. A sports bar with eight (8) TV screens. Nice ambiance with nice varnish wood tables without the wobbliness. Obscenely expensive for two drinks totally over $21.00 (with sales tax). No comment on the bar food as I did not consume any. No comment on the facilities as I did not utilize. Customer service was mediocre as they seem to ridicule customers fending a insincere mask to degrade me passing off as rude joke. read more

Tonight was my second time at Jakes Saloon and it was even better than my first, which was great. The staff are super courteous and diligent. I had Jake as my waiter tonight, what a pleasure. Food was great, you must try the wings. Drinks were served cold and to the top....try the Spicy Pear Martini, my wife loved it. Met the proprietor tonight, what a great guy, his name was Jimmy, super talented at keeping you engaged and checking on things, without being intrusive or pushy. Ok atmosphere if you are looking for a sports bar with tv's in front of you. But that's probably about the best you'll get at this place. Drinks were watered down but the worst was the food. We ordered the flatbread and it tasted like chef boy r dee sauce and the bread was soggy like a wet piece of undercooked dough. The mango and chicken spring rolls were inedible. The chicken quesadillas were barely passable. The chicken was over cooked and tasted like it was at least two weeks old. Why not one star? Well the bartender was nice and it is a sports bar. We stopped by here because we wanted to grab something quick before our comedy show at 8 at Gotham theater. Came here I'd say around 6:45. A lot of open tables. Seated right away. Cute inside. They had Halloween decor up which I appreciated. I also really enjoyed the music they were playing. Food was also pretty darn good. The only reason I docked a star was because service wasn't that great. Took a while for someone to come to even take our drink order. We were in kind of a hurry so at that point we put in for our meal too. Took a while to get our drinks (and all I got was a Diet Coke). When we got the bill we had to actually bring it up to the bar to speed up the payment process. Otherwise again ambience and music was excellent. The prices were very decent too. I got a cheeseburger which was delicious and super juicy. The fries were also GREAT! (~15.00) My husband got the wings and said they were very meaty and flavorful (12.00). My friend got the beef chili nachos-12.00- (which i didn't think they were much to write home about but she really enjoyed them and really liked the chili on them) My friend also got a spicy pear martini. I tried a sip and it was delicious! Very tasty and not weak. Besides the service aspect (which wasn't a huge deal to us) we had a great experience and would go back for sure. read more

Great bar and food is awesome. Reason for the 4 star and not 5 is unless you're 60 years old, the music is awful. Different bartenders have their music, but I watched an entire crowd leave once the music changed from 90s rock to music from the 50/60s. If they change the music to an updated playlist, it would be perfect. read more
