Ambience and location. The patrons are nice and welcoming. The service isn't horrible it's standard. The drinks are a bit pricey but it's a decent place. I've never ordered food so I wouldn't know about food. I go here for drinks with friends and that's fun. The drinks are cool I order simple drinks or straight shots of whisky rum or scotch

Harassment complaint that I filed on the night of 8/12/18 against the Westside Tavern and its bouncer that I describe in my review
    Charles Y.

Had a really terrible experience here about a week ago that required my calling the police. After spending a few hours here and having a generally fine but not noteworthy experience, I was walking out of the bar to take a call when the bouncer threw me onto the ground outside the bar without any provocation or rationale. I climbed back up and asked him to explain himself, to which he responded with thuggish threats without providing any explanation for his actions. I called the police, who arrived shortly onto the scene. Upon being questioned by the police, the bouncer described a preposterous story about how I had been hurling homophobic slurs and grabbing the doorknob, to which he had no choice but to respond by force. Frustratingly, it devolved into a he said he said argument, and since I was lucky enough to walk away with a few bloody scrapes and nothing more serious, left it there for the night. I made a harassment claim to document the incident (which I've uploaded), and even now I am not sure what set the bouncer off on this relatively quiet night besides possibly a case of mistaken identity combined with totally inappropriate overzealousness. That awful experience aside, there's really nothing notable about this neighborhood bar in terms of ambience, and the quality of service was below average. I'd advise others to stay away from here and instead pick from the wealth of other options available in the area.

When the bartender (thank you, Chris!) pours you Jameson and turns up The Smiths, you know you're in the right place.

We wandered in here intending to go to the Highline afterwards for a walk. What we expected to be a quick drink or two turned into a few drinks followed by multiple games of billiards (my record 2-1). If you're in the mood to rack 'em up and knock a few into the corner pocket, it's $2 a game. There's a fan on in the back so be ready for a chilly game. There's nothing that really stands out about this place. It was a Friday evening but there weren't too many people. Most people looked like they stopped by to enjoy a few beers and watch Sportscenter.

Check-in was quick and easy, and even though it was a full house for a Saturday night, we were still able to find seats without an issue. The space was definitely lively and a bit crowded, but there was still enough room to move around comfortably. Our bartender was really sweet and made great drinks , the cranberry vodka and Long Island were both spot on. We didn't pay extra for the additional glasses to smash, but the six cups included were enough to make the experience fun and satisfying for a casual night. I can see why people would want to buy a full bucket though as it definitely adds to the excitement. The crowd was respectful, and the bathrooms were decently clean, which is always a plus. Overall, a great spot for an stress-relieving, spontaneous night out!

Can't complain. They have four booths in the back maybe it was three. I did notice one of the hanging lights was from an 80s pizza hut joint. Letting you know now the paper towels for your face at the table felt like jail toliet paper, very rough. The bar doesn't have bar stools with backs! You either need to get one or two tables by their mini kitchen, very hot there not recommended for preimenopause or menopausal women or one of the booths. The energy is right there, hovering, but it never actually lands. It's giving "almost iconic" but not quite--like a party that never fully starts. And that's what gets me. Because this bar could EASILY be that spot. The kind people plan their week around. Where are the themed nights? Where's the drama? The chaos? Give me a reason to come back on a random Wednesday. Do a city-event tie-in, a holiday takeover, literally anything that makes it feel alive instead of just... existing. Because right now it feels like a missed opportunity wearing a cute outfit. BUT--let's talk about the one thing they absolutely did not fumble: the view. The VIEW??? Insane. Genuinely stunning. The kind of view that makes you pause mid-sentence and remember you're in New York and not just spiraling in your own life choices. It's carrying the entire experience on its back, respectfully. So yeah. I'd come back... but mostly for the view and the potential. If they ever decide to actually do something with this space? It could be dangerous (in a good way). Until then, it's vibes... just not fully realized ones.

I also got the foreign forage, "a bourbon smash with a mint zing." It was also a delicious take on a classic. They have several types of cocktails, all broken down by spirit and flavor profile. They also offer a lot of spirits made in New York State. They have cocktails with earthy notes, fruity notes, fancy martinis, and a section boasting limited edition and special spirits, if you're "feeling fancy" and wanna cough up 35 bucks instead of 20 or 25! They have a bar snacks menu (sliders, nuts, and the like). I had their thick cut fries and they were light, seasoned, and tasty. I couldn't stop eating them.
