Food is horrible. I ordered wonton soup and got one wonton !!!! Can you believe it?? I also ordered the beef with spicy plum sauce and all I can taste is the sauce?? The beef is gooey and sticky covered in thick batter! Do not order delivery from there they drop the ball then expect you to suck it up and pay for it!! They also honored my request for extra scallions and soy sauce for the fried rice. So, I guess the service was on point. I did get an extra egg for the fried rice. I've been here a couple of times with my co-workers to grab a quick bite for lunch. Wokcano opens at noon, so it's ideal coming right when they open as they get busy. They have a good happy hour menu from 3PM-7PM daily if you're looking for food and drinks on the cheap. The Edamame and sushi I've tried have all been good. The service is really hit or miss, with servers disappearing for long periods of time even when there's few customers. One likes to blast some junk techno music - I don't know about you, but I don't want my heart racing when I'm just eating a chill lunch. 18% gratuity is automatically added to parties 6 or more. We visited Wokcano many times in the past and always enjoyed great dinning experiences. However on our most recent visit while in DTLA for a late night dinner, things felt very different. Valet parking is no longer available so we had to park in a dingy parking structure a few doors down where the elevators are filthy. During the short walk to the restaurant, we also encountered individuals openly using drugs, which was unsettling. Once inside, the restaurant looked run down and no where as clean and polished as I remembered. It was almost empty, which was surprising since it was always bustling no matter the time of day. Most of the dishes we tried were very good, which is why I'm giving 3 stars. However the Korean short ribs were disappointing - the meat was gristly, chewy, and had a rubbery texture. On a positive note, our lead server was extremely polite, attentive, and friendly. She was wonderful as was the rest of the waitstaff. In conclusion, we were underwhelmed with our overall dinning experience. Wokcano used to be our go to spot whenever in DTLA, but after this visit, I don't plan on returning. read more

Have to say that this place was great with service, timing and quality. We found it while walking around downtown and decided to pop in. The interior was divided into the front waiting space and the back bar and dining area. I really liked the dark color scheme and the vibe. The employee at the front was courteous and immediately took our order. We barely had to wait before it was ready. The food itself was amazing! The dishes were hot and fresh and were well packed. We ordered the fried rice, noodles and my favorite-the honey walnut shrimp. The portions were large and the food was flavorful and delicious. The shrimp was the perfect mix of sweet and savory with the texture of the walnuts complementing the softness of the shrimp. We went there a few times due to how good everything was! read more

Tonight I ordered takeout from Wokcano DTLA. When I arrived to pick up my order, around 10:30pm, the doors were locked. This was surprising considering I needed to pick up my order and the listed hours of operation end at 11pm. The host signaled that he would not let me in and they were closed until I managed to communicate that I was merely there to pick up my order. He seemed annoyed that I was there despite the fact that the order was right next to him waiting to be picked up. The food itself was really dreadful. I got two dishes, the short ribs and the black pepper beef. The short ribs, an item I reliably enjoy from this location, were shriveled and mostly fat as if the entire order had been filled with the day's scraps. The black pepper beef was so slick and oily that it was basically inedible. Overall, it was hardly worth the $60+ I paid. Frankly, it was bad enough to make me feel like I can never order from here again and should instead go to Northern Cafe down the street. This used to be a reliable if overpriced late takeout option in DTLA but their standard is completely gone. read more

Man, 0 star shout out review for the bartender working today. Hairless gentleman with one earring. Our team arrived for happy hour; spoke to hostess first; sweet, friendly, and informative on how our group can come in and enjoy a drink. As soon as our group arrive, we went to the bar; again after speaking hostess for what's appropriate and possible to seat us. Bartender came out and rejected us. We were there for the happy hour; we were told (since it's a group of 8) everything on one bill + gratuity. We agreed, yes, whatever is easy. We understand and accept. Proceeded to sit down; and wait 15+ min with no menus, no greetings, not even a "give me a few min before taking your order" from the bartender. Absolutely the worst customer service, even knowing he's getting the Bare min 18% tip which we agreed, on one bill. No service. However; one light at this place, the hostess and the other Female bartender during lunch hour (unfortunately not there). Came to Wokcano on a weekday as my wife and I were about to spend a week apart so we figured we would get some dinner together beforehand. We walked to Wokcano after struggling what to pick and were pleasently surprised that we were just in time for another happy hour deal that we've been encountering downtown lately. When we walked in we were seated right away and the server said we could order a few minutes before the time happy hour started, which is always kindly appreciated. The happy hour menu wasn't huge, but did have a good mixture on it. We decided to order a few different things such as the crispy garlic chicken wings, the spicy crabmeat tempura roll, and we split another roll that I honestly don't recall because she ordered it and I just ate half of it, oh well, it happens. The crispy garlic chicken wings were fine, pretty standard basic wings with sauce on them, not bad, but also not super great. The Spicy crabmeat tempura roll was pretty good, being a standard roll but having good taste to it, and the same can be said for the other roll I can't remember, good flavour, fresh fish, and a good roll overall. Overall, Wokcano was a 50/50 experience that I'll definitely be revisiting in the future thanks to its location. The sushi was solid enough, while the chicken was average. The staff here was fantastic and the restaurant itself looked very modern and clean with lots of seating. Waiter messed up our order, blamed us for his mistake, and then claimed he's too good of a waiter to make that mistake. Service was incredibly slow during happy hour (we were one of only two tables occupying the place). We had to ask multiple times for drink refills. Then the waiter acted put out when we asked for the check to be split according to what each of us actually ordered. Such a bad and disappointing experience after reading good reviews. Food came out cold when it absolutely shouldn't have. Waiter argued with us that we didn't order what we said we did, even though all 3 of us customers heard what each other ordered. This is the place to be in LA!! It's right in the heart of the city. It's close to in walking distance of rooftop bars, mall, city life, crypto.com arena and LA Live. This place has amazing Chinese cuisine, along with their amazing drinks. If you are in to shareable foods, the portions will do just fine. We came here for a Christmas party for work. There were about 13 of us in one of their private rooms. Our waiter was attentive and checked in on us often. The food was tasty. This place opens right at noon, and there is usually a line to get it. Thankfully both times the hostess has done a great job at getting everyone seated. This is a great place to have a lunch meeting as they have closed off sections and the overall environment is not as loud around lunch. Popped in for happy hour after running some errands downtown and had a great served/bartender at the bar. I was greeted when I walked in and they weren't too busy yet. I've eaten at a few other Wokcano locations. The one in Burbank being a favorite because it's closer to me so it was really cool to get a difference experience not only in service, but in food prep and ambiance as well! The mapo tofu, crispy orange tofu and spicy eggplant are all good choices for this veggie, but the Vegan Kung Pao Chicken is always a favorite. Unfortunately they weren't able to make it, but I had a few simple avocado and veggie rolls (not on the menu, but they made them as soon as I asked about them). I had a few afternoon beers... Earned via holiday shopping and a long week of work lol. Overall it's Asian fusion cuisines with primarily Chinese and Japanese dishes ranging from lo mein to sushi and beyond. So you have a bit to choose from. The restaurant itself is much bigger than it looks, when I got up at one point to go to the restroom (which were very clean)... I saw the rest of the layout including a back dining area. Definitely might revisit with friends near here or when in Downtown again. Wokcano DTLA is very close to 7th & Metro Station as well as The Bloc mall/shopping center. Parking structures in most directions... Street parking can be a series of circles, mostly metered as well, but definitely easy metro access to save yourself the hassle. read more

Several dishes ordered were the orange chicken, chow fun, curry, beef & broccoli, calamari, and some sushi rolls. All of it was decent and was on the more Americanized side of Asian food but still satisficed our hunger! I do feel that pricing is a bit high for what you are getting in terms of quality but the portion size makes up for it. Overall, we had a decent meal here and there was decent amount of parties inside having a good time. I would recommend coming by for happy hour since prices seem to be good then but it's only at the bar and not available at the tables. We sat at the bar and were helped right away. The wine they had for happy hour wasn't to my liking (Sav Blanc for the white), so I ordered something else. From the food happy hour menu, I got the salted edamame and the spicy tuna roll. The edamame was delicious and they gave quite a big portion. The spicy tuna roll was bland and disappointing. My boss also got the shishito peppers, and she seemed to like them - also a big portion. All that to say, I would go for some of the apps. This place has gone downhill a bit, it's not what it was in 2012-15 when I was living in the area. Good thing there's always room for improvement. My waiter was very sweet he made sure we had good service and he let us know we were still in time for happy hour. I had the sangria it wasn't very strong but it was tasty, along with my favorite the "Party Roll" which didn't come out sizzling like remember but it tasted ok. Along with two Crab hand roll which and were okay definitely not sure if it was real crab, tasted and looked a bit like imitation crab but I could be wrong. I use to come to this place for their yellowtail in ponzu sauce and I have to say I was a little disappointed the yellowtail didn't taste or look very fresh.
