Met up with some friends at Fogo De Chão for happy hour in downtown Los Angeles and had an amazing time! The restaurant is accessible by driving (you'll have to pay for parking at the meters or nearby parking lots) or taking public transportation (subway or bus)! Happy hour was all day and we had a blast. There was a server and a bartender that took our orders. They were friendly, nicely dressed and very knowledgeable about the food and drink menu. How the fuck do you fuck up AYCE Brazilian BBQ to a group of meat lovers? This location showed me. Group of 12 on a weekday night for work dinner, they scrounged up tables for us while we figured out valet parking from the stand outside. Then it's the usual pleasantries, drink orders, salad bar. All downhill from there. The cook and the seasoning of a lot of the staples just felt wrong. Overly salted and grisly steaks are not something I've had at other locations. The frequency of getting serviced was also terribly infrequent - maybe 2-3 at the beginning with a 30 minute lag before another. Keep in mind not like they were busy serving other tables - restaurant was half empty. Even special requests couldn't be followed. When we asked for well done picanha for a member with stomach issues, they failed both times, first bringing rare steak, then serving up beef rib that was dripping in fat. When we asked for corrections the hostess kept rolling her eyes instead of trying to help us correct what could've been an honest mistake from the kitchen. Hands down worst experience I've ever had at a Fogo which I had considered a safe bet in the past. What should've been a fun night out ended up with two of our guests vomiting in the hotel. First time here at Fogo. Coming in we were hesitantly greeted by the hostess. We arrived 6 minutes early to our reservation and she asked if we wanted to wait for dinner or do brunch. I advised her it was our first time here so we didn't know the difference, she stated dinner is almost twice as much as brunch is. We asked if there was a difference food wise, she shrugged and said "uhhhh the price?" and again stared blankly at us, which didn't really answer or acknowledge our question about any food differences between the two menus. My husband and I stared at each other and discussed, thinking if dinner cost more, there must be a different range of courses or different varieties of food, something of that sort, so we opted to wait until dinner. She observed us as we discussed and did not opt to give more information when hearing our confusion. She directed us to the waiting area and once it hit 2pm on the dot, she sat us down at a table. To our surprise, our waitress was very kind and informative opposed to the hostess. This was a great change of pace after the uncooperativeness we received from the very first person we interacted with when coming into the establishment. She welcomed us and asked if we had dined in before, which we notified her this was our first time. She seemed confused that we received the dinner menus when she saw us walk in minutes before and let us know that we would be ordering from the brunch menu. Through our waitress, we found out that the difference from dinner to brunch is just the time block which affects the pricing. She stated food is all the same and only the prices change. Had the hostess explained a little bit more or had a confident tone when she spoke about the differences, we would have just opted to sit down when we arrived instead of waiting. Everything inside was nicely decorated, colorful, and lively. Tables are set cleanly and welcoming. Again, our waitress was very informative on the whole process and the open salad bar and sides available to us. She made great drink recommendations based on our preferences. When I advised her of a severe kiwi allergy I have, she checked in with the kitchen staff which advised us that the fruits may have been cut on the same surface as the kiwi. The kitchen offered to cut me fresh fruit of my choice so as to not worry about any cross contamination. This meant a great deal to me and was such a kind offer and I gladly took them up on some dragon fruit and pineapple. Having never been to this style of food before, we over estimated how much we could consume and kept saying yes as we were offered different cuts of meat. My top 3 were the garlic steak, flank steak, and the chicken drumsticks. The filet was less tender than I've had in the past and though it was a perfect medium rare, was still dry. Overall great flavor variety, we would come again. The experience was made great from the servers bringing out the cuts of meat and most of all our waitress. As we left we said good bye to the hostess and she never stated up from her phone at the stand and never acknowledged us. Even though my husband and I agreed we'd come back we stated would probably not come back to this specific location due to the hostess. This visit was just as wonderful. Every cut of meat was flavorful, and the service was excellent from start to finish. One of my favorite parts is definitely the salad bar. When we were seated, there was already a bottle of sparkling water on our table. My husband and I visited this location on Saturday July 18 to celebrate a special occasion. It was our first time. We decided on the buffet. Overall the experience we paid for was not worth it. Fogo de Chão - DTLA (Weekday Lunch) FOOD Damn--they serve authentic Lamb Chops! Many restaurants tone down the characteristic flavor of lamb because a lot of people don't like that distinct taste. But Fogo's lamb chops stayed impressively close to the original flavor. Thank you, Fogo! Next time I come here, I may just order the lamb chops and nothing else. Their Picanha was also very good. Their Black Beans were delicious. My co-worker pointed out that there was meat in them--I honestly didn't notice. So it probably wasn't full Feijoada, but rather black beans with a bit of meat added to enhance the flavor. Either way, they were excellent. Our server suggested adding Chimichurri on the side for the black beans, and that was a fantastic recommendation. Absolutely delicious. Thank you, miss! I also loved their Mashed Potatoes. And of course, the famous Brazilian Cheesebread! Love it! (Be sure to ask for it. Because ours came towards the end of the dinner.) DÉCOR & FOOD PRICE The décor was just so-so--not as nice as H&H Brazilian. However, Fogo's all-you-can-eat churrasco costs significantly less. H&H was $73 per person when I went last December, while Fogo's weekday lunch was only $55. That difference definitely matters. DRINKS The drink prices were also a pleasant surprise. A glass of South American Chardonnay was only $8, and their Clean Cosmos (a mocktail) was around the same price. Our server brought us bottled spring water, which cost $8.50. I don't recall being asked whether we wanted tap or bottled water, but times are hard and I want them to stay in business. DESSERT You may not even need dessert--the fried plantains are included as part of the all-you-can-eat churrasco, and they're a satisfying sweet finish. Service was very friendly and attentive. We also had access to the buffet, but I was a little turned off watching one customer taking Cesar salad out of the bowl with my bare hands. I asked the waiter if there was anymore and was told no. So I passed on the salad. The rice and beans smelled good except the beans were cold. The rest of the buffet was well stocked and offered selections for everyone. This was the first time I've dined at a 'Fogo restaurant and I'm sure I'll dine at another one in the future. I was starving and had the Full Churrasco. It is this combination of great meats that made Fogo famous. It is an experience and you are so well cared for. It includes tableside carvings of the best Brazilian cuts like signature Picanha (prime part of top sirloin), Fraldinha (bottom sirloin), the most wonderful Roasted Chicken, Bone-in Ribeye, Filet, and Lamb Chops. You get so much I am sure I left something out. It also comes with great sides. My husband had the Wagyu Ancho (Ribeye) cooked rare and it was magical. He loved it. It was perfect. It is made for sharing for a table of 4. There was 3 of us so our dogs were in heaven with a lot of meat. My grandson was with us so we all shared and ordered a lot of sides. Some of the must try sides are the Butter battered Lobster and the crab cakes. They are so great. Also, their lobster mashed potatoes are some of the best ever and their crab asparagus is just the best. Now, we spent a lot of money, but you don't have to go crazy, one of the dishes I mentioned will take care of several people, but get some more sides. Have the best time. read more

Absolutely my favorite Brazilian steakhouse. Easy walk from my place and it's always amazing. My mom and I are obsessed with the cheese bread and grilled cheese with honey. Would eat them all day long if I could. This time around, I was celebrating my anniversary with my bf so we got the full experience but my parents and I often get the special (which tends to exclude ribeye and lamb chops). I like how you can request a specific dish to come out if you preferred it. I'm not a salad person so I'm not too big on the salad bar, just a personal thing. My recommendation, for your first time, I think it's good to try everything but if you really want your moneys worth, the penchetta, filet minon, and sirloin (and ribeye if you get the full experience). We were invited to a work event with our hosts from Korean Airlines. We started with the drink menu and they offer happy hour with very reasonable prices. I tried two different drinks that had Brazilian liquor and they were both delicious with a good buzz to it LOL. We were treated to the Full Churrasco and just to let you know I went in starving and came out so full I had to a walk around downtown before heading home LOL. read more

I can't believe I just discovered Fogo's happy hour! It's available all day, every day at the bar or patio. While the happy hour menu doesn't feature many vegetarian options, that's fine--after all, you go to Fogo for the meat! The portion sizes are impressive and reasonably priced. Where else can you find a delicious picanha burger with fries for just $10? Some of my other favorites include the blistered cheese with honey, lamb lollipops, the filet mignon board, and chicken sliders. I would skip the empanadas, as they were a bit lacking in flavor. I've also gone to fogo for their lunch & dinner service and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. read more
