I had a prescription for progressives in the past and had them filled by a really expensive store, but I found them unusable. When I needed a new prescription I did some research and found that Wohl's Optics out had a lot of really good reviews so I gave them a try. I will never go anywhere else! Doug is so friendly and gives lots of helpful advice, and I loved my glasses right from the start. He is customer oriented and will take you in if you have a quick little emergency and give you good tips for how to avoid it again. Wohl Optics is a great, locally-owned and operated business. I have been going there for glasses for a number of years and always had great, rapid service from Doug. A few years back my wife's employer changed our optical plan to one that require us to go to Vision Works and I had a series of issues with the glasses they made for me. This is a BUYER BEWARE for anyone considering ordering Transitions Lenses from Wohl's Optics. I recently ordered a pair. Every previous Transition Lens I ever had before, from any other Optician, always transitioned very darkly in sunlight. I believed that's what Transition Lenses were supposed to do. I advised Mr. Wohl that I needed a dark transition because of my sensitivity to bright sunlight. The ones I got back from Wohl's Optics did not darken at all whatsoever. Mr. Wohl graciously ordered a second pair from his Lens Lab - but this second pair also did not transition in sunlight. Doug tried to explain the glass his Lab used was not always capable of dark transitioning - but this didn't make much sense to me. I told him neither pair was satisfactory because none of the lenses transitioned at all. Bottom Line: I paid for Transition Lenses - but did not get them - and Doug angrily refused to provide any compensation. Since my new non-transition glasses are basically unusable in sunlight - I've had to buy "Clip-On" shades from the drugstore in order to wear my new glasses outside. I think the problem has more to do with the Lens Lab Doug uses. He should get a new Lab that is able to make legitimate "dark" Transition Lenses every time - or at least be aware of what his Lab may or may not be able to do - otherwise don't offer and charge customers for Transition Lenses if you, or your Lab, can't provide them. read more

Went to Wohl Optics and met with Doug Wohl today. Really like the relaxed atmosphere and personal consultation on the best eyeglasses that would work for my best vision. Aside from being a really genuine and honest man, he takes his time and is extremely accommodating. I did not initially understand the difference between readers and occupational glasses. Now I get it and I realize that my drugstore readers We're really straining my vision and that my prescription is different for each eye. Also at an older age I realize that prescription sunglasses or what I need to protect my vision and slow down the development of cataracts. Doug Wohl is a great source of knowledge. Needed new progressive lenses made for new prescription and needed issue with current lenses evaluated. Doug discovered they were not made properly (at different lab) because my eyes were not measured correctly and "sweet spot" in lenses were not matched to my eyes. Only a week later and I had new lenses installed in existing frames and now my progressive glasses work the way they were supposed to. Very happy with his service and attention to detail. Having worn eyeglasses for over 50 years, my wife and I have gone through a large number of glasses and too many opticians. Yet we've never had the personal care or detailed explanation received at Wohl's. Wohl took the time to ask what type of eye pad my wife and I wanted, whether a solid piece or flexible one. We had never thought about this as it was the first time anyone had taken the time to ask us about it. It had always been about how we liked the look in the mirror. This question resulted in us getting very great fitting glasses. We were also impressed with the care taken to do multiple measurements to ensure everything was perfect. On top of everything else we were pleasantly surprised with the turnaround time to get the new glasses. I had broken my old pair and Wohl had fixed them with a temporary adjustment but I was concerned it wouldn't last. Thus, when we got a call 7 days later that our new glasses were ready, I was greatly relieved. If anyone wants great fitting glasses, Wohl Optics is the place to go. I know we'll be back. read more

Went in for a check up at Wohl Optics recently and got the same friendly, professional, affordable service I received the last time I was there. And they're very informative about the whole process and what you can expect with your new glasses and what options are available. Doug went over everything I needed to know and tried to make my transition to new glasses as convenient for me as possible. He demonstrated my new lenses by holding them in front of my eyes as I looked outside. I didn't realize how unclear things looked until I looked through those lenses. And he helped me pick out new frames. They have a great selection of frames in there! When I got home, I realized he had tightened my old glasses and I didn't even notice him doing it. Usually I have a problem with progressives and if the optician doesn't measure properly, they need to be re-done. Not the case here. Was in to see Doug Wohl this past week and I'm so glad that I have changed opticians and optometrist to see him. I have had trouble with progressive prescription eyeglasses elsewhere and never really adjusted to them. Douglas was able to get me into progressive eyeglasses where I could see far immediately and also could read perfectly. Very friendly and pricing was much less than any other place that I have been.
