My wife and I recently purchased a home and wanted to remodel some areas of the kitchen and an upstairs bathroom. Wiz plumbing was recommended by a friend who used them in the past. We needed to repair/replace two copper water lines under our kitchen sink because of corrosion, as well as repositioning a toilet upstairs (the bathroom was narrow, with the toilet at the end, parallel to the bathtub. We removed a closet directly in back of the bathroom, and repositioned the toilet perpendicular and behind the bathtub). Derek, who came out for the inspection, gave us a free estimate for the repair in a timely manner. His keen ability to patiently and throughly explain the problems we would face and what solutions he had in mind spoke volumes about his experience. He presented us with several options and let us decide on what we wanted to do. His patient demeanor felt like we were not being rushed to make any decision. Of course in the end we chose the option that was most difficult to accomplish for them, but would give the best result. At one point they ran into a major problem that would be very costly to continue with the option that we chose. When all hope was lost, Derek was able to figure out a way to make the plan work and give us the result we wanted, and kept our cost low. He even gave us a discount on another project we decided on (installing a gas pipe for the stove and cleaning out the main sewer line with the rotor rooter). It was an incredible experience, something of a throwback from decades ago. I had a toilet severely clogged for 24 hours and after attempting to rectify the situation myself with limited tools and know-how, I called Wiz Plumbing. A technician came out at 8 a.m. the following morning. By that time, some 14 or 15 hours after having last attempted to fix the problem, the toilet had been sitting full of water. When the technician arrived, however, the water had drained and the toilet flushed perfectly as if nothing had been wrong. After a few more tests and test flushings of other toilets in the house, the technician proclaimed the system was in fine working order and departed, refusing to assess even a service call charge. Incredible! I have to go back to the 1970s to say that has happened to me. Bravo to Wiz, the integrity and to the sincerity of this local business. Wiz Plumbing is PHENOMENAL. And when I say phenomenal, I mean beyond phenomenal. Felicia, the office manager, hands down was so easy to work with, went above and beyond to handle our weird emergency. When a spigot broke outside in the backyard and water starting flooding into the basement, she knew exactly what to do and guided me through turning off things and checking to minimize damage to my house. She then got on the phone and tracked down every plumber they have at Wiz until she found one who could come out ASAP. She was prepared to come herself if she had to, no joke. She stayed on the line with me as the fire department showed up to turn off the security alarm that got set off bc the electrical panel got soaked. She talked to the fire department and made sure she documented everything they did so the plumber would know exactly what to do when he arrived. We have used Derek twice now & he did good work. He is very professional, polite, & takes the time to explain problems and how they will rectify them. I am most impressed with his customer service. Most contractors are lacking in the area of people skills, but he is extremely polite and communicative. He also needed to reschedule my job by a few hours, due to an emergency plumbing job that he got a call for, but he still asked if that was okay with me, rather than just telling me he could not come. It really was not an issue to push it back by a few hours & of course we were understanding of the matter, but we especially appreciated the advance notice & how cordial he was about it. I called to have my outdoor faucet replaced as it had blown off (the threads were bad) and was shooting water out. Luckily a neighbor let me know and I shut the water off at the main. Derek came out on time. He explained to me my options. He ended up having to remove some of the wall for access to where the bad faucet connected. He replaced it with a brand new frost free faucet. I can't say enough about the great job that Derek did. He even put the tiles back on the wall and put the drywall back in place. Derek saved the day. He's a very polite and knowledgeable guy. I needed service for a sump pump on a specific day when I could be there, and Derek was able to accommodate. He arrived on time and with all the necessary parts, and took care of the replacement in less than an hour. I had requested estimates from two other plumbers; the first one gave me a "ballpark" estimate and said they would give a final price once on-site and the second gave me a firm estimate. Both were higher than Derek's estimate. I felt very comfortable with Derek when speaking to him about the problem and estimate, and he was obviously very knowledgeable. Having had previous kitchen plumbing reconfiguration work performed by Wiz Plumbing (with excellent results), I engaged Wiz Plumbing again for a surprise sewage back-up issue following extraordinarily heavy rains. Wiz Plumbing was able to accommodate my request despite a heavy workload elsewhere in the area. The plumbers responding were very professional, very courteous, and used rotary coil and water-jetting methods to clear the obstruction (a root clog located a significant distance from the house) and returned us to servi ce. This is the plumbing firm you've been looking for...they do great work, respond fast and stand by their work, all at a very fair price. I've used many firms over the years and they are the best. I had them replace a sump pump and fix a difficult shower leak. They did it for 1/2 of other quotes I received and did a great job. Then a year later, the shower leaked again, just a small amount, but they came right out and fixed it at no cost even though the 1 year warranty had expired. My garbage disposal was making a terrible noise when I turned it on. I called Wiz and really thought I would need to have it replaced. After checking to make sure the blades were working correctly, the repairman poured ice and dish detergent through the running disposal several times. The abnormal noise disappeared. The repairman could have told me I needed to buy a new disposal causing me to spend several hundred dollars. As a senior I appreciate his honesty. Called Wiz Plumbing for a leak in the base seal of our toilet. They could have sent someone immediately, but since no one was going to be home, we arranged an appointment for the next afternoon. Derek is a great plumber and I highly recommend him. I have been disabled for a year and literally have EVERYTHING falling apart. He came over and fixed a very screwed up, leaking kitchen sink, (for a great price). He also gave me free estimates for all the other projects I need to have fixed. (again, great prices).
