In April, I paid approximately $3,000 for a new sump pump and backup battery system. In August, that backup battery failed, resulting in my basement flooding. What is incredibly frustrating is that after spending that much money on a system that was supposed to protect my home, I was left dealing with the consequences when it failed only a few months later. To make matters worse, the response and communication throughout this entire situation have been extremely frustrating. I had to take multiple days off work for appointments, only to have the company fail to show up when they said they would. I was repeatedly given different timelines for when someone would come out and address the damage. The battery was eventually replaced, but the mitigation process was another nightmare. I was told the mitigation team would come out, only to have someone come later simply assess the damage and take pictures. I was then given another date for the actual mitigation work, only to be told at the last minute that they didn't have anyone available. At that point, I had enough. J. Blanton will not be stepping foot in my home again. I do want to specifically thank Nick and Michael from the mitigation side for at least trying to help and work through this situation with me. I appreciate the effort they made, but unfortunately, it doesn't change my overall experience with the company. When you spend thousands of dollars on something that is supposed to protect your home, you should be able to expect it to work and expect the company to stand behind its work when something goes wrong. I have since used Servpro to mitigate the situation. My advice: save yourself the headache, money, missed work, and frustration and choose another company. I would never use J. Blanton again.

They are deep and very obvious/noticeable scratches that cannot be fixed without fixing the entire floor in the house, as it's all the same wood and style. I emailed them, called more than 3 times leaving a voicemail and messages with whomever answered the phone. I was told they would let the manager know, but I never received a response from anyone. At that point I figured it wasn't worth it. Then, fast forward to a few weeks, (now 2.5 years later), we find out we had a gas leak. The People's Gas repairmen came quickly and said they were shocked at how loosely the pipes for the water heater were put together! He showed me how he didn't even need a tool to take them apart! In two small twists the pipes were off! So apparently, for 2.5 years, we have had a gas leak and didn't know and are very lucky to be alive at this point. We have a child and have many family members and friends over! We are appalled! So, not only did this company permanently destroy our floor and act extremely unprofessional by totally ignoring us, but they almost killed us due to their negligence! Literally ANY company would be a better choice.

While doing the cleaning, they said that they noticed a break in the line to the main sewer and explained the Private Drain Program, saying that they were able to provide the service for calling the city inspector and getting a work order approved to repair it. They were polite, friendly, and very communicative throughout the entire process. They walked me through exactly what was needed and what would happen going forward. He looked at the leak and went to Association office of my condo building to request a water shut off to change a cartridge. He was told the shut off would have to be scheduled. He came back to remove cover to see if I had a shut off by the cartridge. I did not. Even though I did not have a shut off he decided to remove the cartridge anyway, but was unable to turn it. Then he said if he was able to remove the cartridge everything would get quite wet because the water wasn't able to be shut off. Then he said he didn't want to get wet and would not try to remove the cartridge. He told me that he would have to return in 3-5 days when the water shut off to my tier could be scheduled. Since he could not remove the cartridge he decided that it was on too tight. He told me I would have to soak rags in vinegar and wrap them around the cartridge and keep rags wet until he returned. He told me if I didn't do this that he might have to go into the wall in the hallway to get to the cartridge. I told them that he would have to get permission from the Association to do something so drastic. The Association told him no. Then before he left he told me to keep the bathroom door closed and leave the ceiling fan on until he returned in 3-5 days. He closed the door. I told him that I had the fan on but wasn't sure it was even working. He did not check the fan and closed the door. When he left, he left muddy boot prints from my bathroom all the way to my front door. When I responded to the ad on Yelp the price to come out was quoted as $69.99 to come out. When he replied to my email he changed the price and said it would be $39.99, but before he left he changed the price again to $69.99. I am a disabled senior citizen dealing with a stranger in my unit and was afraid to question him. I notified his company about the mess he made and they said they had no one to clean it up except him. I told them I did not want him coming back at all because I didn't trust him. I also talked to Association office and we decided he was not competent and that he should not return. I hired a different plumber to come and look at the faucet. They came and found the bathroom door closed and asked me why it was closed. I told them that Preferred Plumbing closed the door. When the door was opened my entire bathroom was dripping water - from the ceiling, down the walls, dripping from the light fixtures and my medicine cabinet. All of the knobs on both my medicine cabinet and my vanity were corroded from the dripping water. The paint was pealing off some of the walls and bubbling up on others. The stain on my medicine cabinet was also peeling off. The floor was so wet I had to put towels down so this plumber could have access to the leaky faucet. Even though I had told Grant that I didn't believe the fan was working, he never checked it before he closed the door. The light fixture was blinking off and on. The new plumber told me that the water probably got into the walls and may have shorted out the wires. Even the floor tiles were coming up. The bathroom door was so distorted from the excessive water it had absorbed it had to be forced to open it all the way. I have been back and forth with Preferred Plumbing explaining the discrepancy in the pricing and the amount of damages Grant caused by closing the door, but they decided that Grant was not at fault. They also refused to adjust the pricing even though I sent them a copy of the email that Grant sent to me quoting the price as $39.99. When the new plumber came he had no problems removing the cartridge even though I had been unable to apply the vinegar soaked rags that Grant insisted were necessary. I would not recomend Grant or Preferred Plumbing to anyone. They changed the pricing and caused a lot of damage to my bathroom. They accepted no responsibility for the price changes Grant made and refused to take responsibility for any of the damages that Grant caused by closing the bathroom door without checking to see if the fan was working even though I told Grant that I did not believe it was working.

Things that stood out: Communication - We felt the main point of contact, Anthony, was clear and helpful through the whole process. This is true of every crew member we interactacted with as well. I was hesitant at first because of the distance between my home in the Western suburbs and where they're located in the city, however, they made it work! I had a sewer line backup last night where dirty water was coming up my basement toilet and running over the brim. The water came up over the brim half hour after I had given up plunging for the previous hour the water that didn't go down, hence my clue as to why the main sewer line was backed up. I reached out to someone there. The dispatcher gave me a call back immediately. He scheduled a time and told me to expect a call from Mike. Mike gave me a call shortly after and told me he'd be here by the top of the hour. He and his partner, Peter, was 15 minutes early. I appreciated that. I wanted to learn about what he was doing, as I like learning new things. He didn't mind me standing there and asking questions and did so with a great attitude and a smile. In about an hour or so, he was able to not only rod out space for water to flow to the sewer, but he was able to run a tool down the line to clear the four or five root balls out of the line. He ran a camera to confirm what was down there before removing them and he ran a camera after. The bill was right, but I've also always understood the perspective of quality and value over quantity, as previous plumbers just rodded the pipe, which is simply a band-aid to cover a bigger issue, whereas Rocket Plumbing provided the quality and value. Along with what I paid, there is a two year warranty to warrant their work in case I need them to come out to resolve the same matter. read more

I had a great experience with Rocket Plumbing/Roots Be Gone!!! Ryan and Z arrive within the window. They came right to the door to ask me what was going on and explained what they would do to help clear the roots from my sewer drain. Then to my surprise, Brian, the owner showed up and brought a machine and an attachment I had never seen (and I have unfortunately had to have my sewer line cleaned too many times to count by other companies). He proceeded to work with the guys and used multiple tools and hydro jetting to COMPLETELY clear my drain!!!! They took their time, ran the camera multiple times, and went above and beyond!!!! I couldn't be happier with their service and knowing I don't have to worry about my sewer line backing up over the holidays etc!!!! Will be using them again. Truly appreciate their hard work and honesty through the whole process!! We have a single family home in Norwood Park that needed updating. Brian did our work. He installed an Insinkerator disposal and our Grohe kitchen faucet, and dishwasher. He is definitely knowledgeable about plumbing, and took the time to teach and explain how to properly care for what he was installing. He was on-time, super professional and offered options. Hands down the best solution to all plumbing problems! Had a clogged drain line to the street. Roots in several locations blocked the flow almost completely. The drain line cleaning tool/machine owned by Rocket Plumbing is revolutionary and returned our entire length of pipe to 100% flow with zero evidence of roots. Having hired A & T Plumbing in the past with excellent results, i called them first. They had a plumber onsite shortly who not only fixed the problem, but was able to suggest some small changes needed to bring things up to code. Everybody I spoke with worked very hard to treat customers in a cordial and professional way, and, they did everything they said they would do in a timely manner and for reasonable price. So, all in all, it seems clear that these people take customer service seriously, and that showed throughout the whole experience, from our initial call through the end of the repair. Dad's a tough customer since he used to do all that stuff himself. They were great - patient, professional, efficient and got it all done quite quickly. Even dad thought they did a good job and he would hire them again. Special thanks for hauling the very heavy water softener and salt from the softener up the stairs to the garage for disposal. Dad's also hates to pay for stuff he used to do himself, but the cost was reasonable - even to dad. Planning on having them back soon to fix other stuff that dad has put off.

They were available that same day, but chose to have them come out today because i knew i would be at home.My appointment was between 7:30-8:30 am and Dereck arrived at around 8am. He was nice, professional and efficient. Come to find out, i had an eyebrow shaper stuck in my toilet, so all i could do was laugh. They travel all throughout the city, unlike most plumbing companies I've come in contact with...and they're black owned, which is a plus for me. Will be calling them to replace my faucet soon and if any other issues come up in my condo. This will now be my go to plumbing company! :) Thanks Dereck!!

I appreciate their honesty…read more We had two other companies evaluate our air conditioner. There were three possible issues: a bad capacitor, a bad motor, or the need for a completely new unit. We suspected it might be the capacitor, but the first technician pushed for a new motor. The second technician didn't mention the capacitor or the motor and instead recommended replacing the entire unit for $9,000. Aquaduct diagnosed the problem as a faulty capacitor and replaced it. If we truly needed a new air conditioner, that would have been fine. Our current unit is 15 years old, and we understand that it might have been time. But what we wanted was an honest assessment, and that's exactly what Aquaduct provided. I highly recommend Aquaduct!

We had an extremely poor experience with Aquaduct Plumbing after they installed our water heater…read more The installation was not done correctly (dielectric union, flue and drain pan) and corrosion developed at the dielectric union within a few years. This issue was pointed out to their technician during a service visit, & we followed up by email with photos clearly showing the corrosion. They claimed it was not their fault and since it is outside the labor warranty they wouldn't take care of it. When the issue recently worsened and we asked them to stand behind their installation, they pointed to an expired labor warranty and then stopped responding to our emails entirely. A water heater installation should last far longer than this without corrosion at the fittings, and a reputable plumbing company should take responsibility when a clear installation issue is identified, regardless of elapsed time. Unfortunately that was not our experience with Aquaduct Plumbing. Now I have a 4 year old water heater that will likely need fully replaced because of this piece that is almost fully corroded. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Mike came to help very quickly after we reached out to him, despite being swamped with tons of other similar complaints. He quickly addressed a huge range of issues ranging from cleaning and cameraing our sewer line to closing our stack drain, fixing our flooded out water heater, helping us with our boiler and radiators (which suddenly weren't working just as it started to get cold out), and more. Mike's honest and fair. He tells you what really needs fixing, what can wait, and is able to think creatively about solutions to save money/maximize value. Well Mike and his team went to my Mom's house that Saturday and were able to resolve her water pressure issue! I just used Frank for what I thought was an emergency…read more We had some flooding yesterday in our basement. We were able to remove the water and dry it out and called Frank shortly after. Frank responded to me within an hour and said he would be out today. He and his son came out. They communicated the whole time and asked before they did anything. Turns out our contractor installed a GFI that didn't work and our sump pump was plugged into the bad GFI. While Frank was here, he also fixed our sink. Highly recommend. Reasonably priced. Did a good job and also didn't shame me for not checking the GFI.
