American Septic…read moreagreed to replace our septic system over two years ago. 1st: they couldn't get the permit done correctly with the county, which they took 12 months t complete. 2nd: they couldn't find birds eye gravel in the greater Chicago area (it wasn't that difficult - it required a separate company to help them), which took another six months. 3rd: They can't figure out how to purchase the septic system we need, which has been approximately 6 months. I am only guessing because they haven't returned any calls/texts on my inquiries to schedule the installation. Consequently, our permit has expired and we have FINALLY MOVED ON FROM AMERICAN SEPTIC. While we were waiting for things to get done on their end, they never responded to text message inquiries, or phone messages requesting updates.

When an hour after that time window passed, we called the company, they informed us they were not able to be out that day due to light rain. We had to be the ones to initiate the conservations to find out where this service was. Which means the person who was responsible for being at the residence to be there for the workers, lost a days pay and they did not seem to care at all. Then a second chance was given, when the company provided us with a time and date to be at the residence so another day of work was taken off, again with no pay from their original mistake. Once again, the time block they gave us passes, no show yet again. We then again had to initiate the call to find out what the delay was. They informed me that they made some sort of error that we were not on the schedule, and there is nothing they could do about it. I will NEVER recommend this service again, to anyone at all, unless you have no life and can sit around for whenever they decide to show.

Tony's Drain and Sewer Tried to Drain Our Wallet Instead…read more.. My husband and I called Tony's Drain and Sewer because a contractor recommended them, and we had a stubborn main line blockage. They sent over a technician who attempted to rod the line but couldn't get the equipment in. He gave up and stuck a camera in there. My uncle is a general contractor/handyman with over 30 years of experience, and he's run into this exact issue before with our plumbing. Last time we had this issue, he told us it was likely root intrusion, and that it just needs yearly maintenance. Unfortunately, we didn't keep up with the maintenance, and he lives across the country, so we couldn't exactly fly him in for an emergency toilet rescue. Tony's charged us for a camera inspection and promised to send a quote. The next day? Boom! "$7,500 minimum"... And that didn't even include landscaping repairs. For that kind of money, I was expecting front row VIP tickets to see Dave Chapelle, since clearly, Tony's team thinks they're in the comedy business. Thankfully, we got a second opinion. Another plumbing company with over 20 years of experience came out, scoped it out, and spent about 3 hours clearing the line and doing a full inspection afterward. It was a root blockage and some baby wipes. They got to the root of the problem (yes, pun intended) for just $300. Moral of the story: Don't flush wipes. Also, don't flush your money down the drain with Tony's. Always get a second opinion. 0/10, would not recommend!
