Just okay. I've had them a few times now, in house and take out/delivery. Pasta dishes are so-so, and overpriced for the experience. Appetizers are usually good. Front row of house staff is usually friendly but kitchen is slow routinely. The pasta is usually over cooked for my taste. Sauces are hit and miss, with the bolognese being especially disappointing; too runny and acidic. Alfredo in the past has been too runny. Had the piccata once, the sauce was good, the chicken was just passable. I wife and daughter love the burrata app. Overall, I wouldn't recommend for entrees, but maybe their sandwiches give better value? read more

Parking on Main St. is m limited; so Parking is better in the back. It is casual but elegant. Comfortable seating at tables or along the bar. The Service is outstanding! The Waiter was very warm, friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We had draft beer in a chilled glass (not frosty, which I prefer). Appetizers: We got Arancini (see image) and they were slightly over toasted but delicious. Entrees: We chose Pappardelle Bolognese & Manicotti delivered with buttered focaccia bread slices (see image). Both were delicious! Pappardelle pasta was a tad overcooked, and the Manicotti was the Star of the two! The bread is warm sliced fresh focaccia and lightly brushed with butter and a sprinkle of Parmesan. Portions are generous, and we both took leftovers home and we asked for more to-go bread. Summary: Prices are good for the quality, portions and service! Our visit was $51 (before tip) with 4-beers, appetizers and 2-Entrees. So a couple will pay about that much with a comparable restaurant. Restrooms are small but clean. Albeit the men's toilet tank lid is missing(?). Recommended. Would have been a full 5-stars had arancini and pappardelle had not been slightly overcooked. But not enough to send it back. For local this is the best in Joplin. Not that there is allot of Italian places but this place has friendly staff, nicely lit dining area and a nice selection of food. All four of us got something different and everything was hot fresh and our drinks never got low. I enjoyed the blackened chicken Alfredo most. The chicken had a nice little kick to it. The Alfredo was creamy and the peon was more than enough. Shrimp scampi was creamy and the penne a la vodka was rich creamy and oh so good. We will be back for sure. read more

They're mediocre , not bad for fast food.. Their Italian beef sandwiches need to be dipped, as they were quite dry. I'm an older part-Italian culture and lived near Taylor street in Chicago, back in 2014...if you are Italian , you know that area as one of the best neighborhoods in Chicago for Italian food.... The food is excellent but we ordered a appetizer and it took 45 minutes to get it. Our salads came and went before the appetizer and the meal took even longer but was very good. The waited was very good and kept coming back and say he was sorry but the kitchen was running behind even though there was about 15 people in the restaurant. We were not offended a glass of water. First time going to this restaurant, which recently moved to a location downtown. Wiseguys wasn't busy (it was before 6pm), but we did have to wait several minutes to get seated. The service was good but a little bit too casual and nonchalant. The food was good, but had some issues, which I really hope they can get fixed because we like the place. First , the Greek salad was delicious. When our entrées came out, my wife's was chicken piccata with pappardelle pasta was cold. The dish would have been much better served warm/hot. My muffuletta panini sandwich was good. Would've been great if they had put the olive tapenade on the entire sandwich and not just in a few places. The side of potato chips was disappointing- they need to develop some better side dish options. read more

I'd like to preface my review by saying I did not have the opportunity to eat any of the food. A few days before Christmas, my family went in to try WiseGuys for the first time - my parents, myself, my wife, and my two sons. We all walked in and were immediately greeted with an overpowering unpleasant smell. I'd like to believe it's one of the hard Italian cheeses - Asiago, Parmesan, Romano - but I'm unsure. We all walked up to the counter and waited to be helped. After a couple of minutes, one of the two guys in the kitchen made eye contact with us, let out an enormous sigh, and rolled his eyes at the fact we were at the counter waiting to order. I looked over at my father to double check and make sure I had seen what I thought I did. He also saw it. We waited another minute, and no attempt was made to come take our order or even do something as little as greeting us or acknowledging that we were in line. We began discussing if we should leave, and we tried to catch the eye of the guys in the kitchen again, and when we did, he disgustedly rolled his eyes again, do we left. I hate to be a man Karen here, but we don't plan on returning, which is disappointing, because we'd like to support local businesses, but I don't have any great desire to support people who don't want or deserve it. read more

WiseGuys is a small, quaint restaurant with an extremely vast menu. I'm grateful for it as a vegetarian because I have plenty of options unlike most restaurants in Joplin. My friend and I walked in on a cold Wednesday evening hoping for some comfort food. The restaurant was empty but the staff was very lively. They were so sweet and gave us recommendations as it was our first time here. We asked for the cajun pasta to be made vegetarian which the chef gladly accepted. There were plenty of veggies and the portion size was very big considering the pasta was roughly $10. The pasta was well cooked and the sauce was a little surprisingly taste wise. It was creamy and had a kick to it. Additionally, we ordered a cannoli and a tiramisu. The cannoli was $3.25 and it was mediocre. The tiramisu was yummy but it was $6.25! I wouldn't say it was worth that much but if you are craving some tiramisu, it definitely hits the spot compared to a Walmart version. For Joplin, I would recommend this place as it is a decent restaurant with good quality and portion size. It's a quick Italian craving fix but I wouldn't consider it as authentic or the best Italian I've been to. read more

On our way from Texas to KC, found this hole in the wall for dinner. We had shrimp Alfredo, chicken parmigiana, veal parmigiana, lasagna. All were delicious and fresh. The best part was the amazing cannoli! It's order at the counter and pick up your food, so not fancy. Good find. read more

Absolutely terrible. Pictures on the website are very deceiving. Extremely unclean, dead bugs on the floor, live bugs flying all over, bathroom is worse than a gas station, and poor customer service. I know the locals will have my head for this review but I've got to be honest. It is a small little restaurant, not a lot of seating- that's not a problem for me at all. They were very busy, also not a problem. When you walk in you'll order your food at the counter, take out or dine-in same process. After we placed our order and sat down to wait I tasted my unsweetened tea, it tasted like water, no tea flavor at all. That should have been my indication, but the reviews were so great I ignored it, ordered a soda and pushed on. Your food order is called out when ready and you go to the counter to get it. The Arancini was very good! The marinara, not so great but you really don't need it. The food looked really appetizing, I liked the bread sticks, very unique. We only ate a few bites, not that it tasted bad, it just lacked seasoning. I've got a sensitive stomach and decided it would be best to stop. I didn't stop soon enough- just a warning to those with sensitive stomachs! So yeah, I'm sorry local people who rave about this place, it missed the mark with me. read more

This place gets lots of rave reviews from the locals, so we were very excited to give them a try. I like Italian food - I tend to stick with the classics, and when classics are done right, I'm in heaven! First off, they have excellent breadsticks. They are soft and garlicky and practically melt in your mouth. I could've left with a bag full of breadsticks and been perfectly happy. As for entrees, I chose the spaghetti and meatballs. You get a pretty hearty portion with two very large meatballs right on top. Sauce was great as well. I was happy with my meal. Hubby was not so impressed. He chose the Chicken Piccata. Usually you get a pan-fried piece of chicken; however, this one just looked boiled. Maybe it wasn't, but it definitely wasn't pan-fried which was a bummer. Piccata sauce was fine and noodles were okay but the chicken just ruined it. But then dessert saved the day! The Tiramisu was delicious. Creamy and cold. Nom nom! Perfect end of the meal. They have a large menu so they'll have something for everyone. We'll definitely go back to try again. People truly do love this place - for us it was A-OK. Worth another shot for sure! read more

Don't let the strip mall fool you--this place is legit!! I had the lasagna and the noodles were perfect and not soggy. The breadstick was so good with great flavor and nice crust. Atmosphere reminds me of a fast food pizza place on the east coast; that's a good thing! They offer zoodles and healthier alternatives to pasta, which is helpful for the health conscious.
