Took my family here for the first time. Ordered 3 chicken parmigiana's, and 1 sandwich. When we went to the counter, I told the person working the counter it was our first time here. He didn't respond, nor acknowledge our existence. Ordered, and you tip up front. Left a tip. Food took about 20 minutes to come out. When I say come out though, we had to go get it up at the counter. Anyways, the food. The chicken tasted like it was from yesterday, hard and inedible. My parents compared it to a TV dinner. Portions were small! Oh and our food came out on paper plates, the only other person I saw with food had an actual dish. The experience was so bad, it was actually comical. Last nite we were looking for a restaurant that has delivery. So I checked yelp to find a pasta place. My choice was Wise Guys because the reviews were good. I was glad to see a menu posted in the pics. It helps to make a choice. I found the prices very reasonable and received a good amount of food for the price. Matt was very polite and he sounded busy. He asked if he could call me back with my total, which doesn't happen often. After a couple of minutes he called back with the total. It took about 30 minutes for the food to arrive. I order the Manicotti with a side salad. My husband order the lasagna with a side salad. We both enjoyed our meals. Lots of good melted cheese on both dishes. I personally found the sauce a bit bland. It could have had a little more flavor to it. Still the whole meal for was good. We will try them again read more

It was good I the ravioli was a little dry. The cheese balls were good and so was the masticoli and the Alfredo.

Cozy little Italian comfort food restaurant located on 7th street, in the plaza next to dollar general. Menu is on a screen above cashier and its a simple and yet varied menu. this place is clean and staff is friendly. The decor suits the name with photos of old school "brat pack" and "wise guys" gangsters. The classic red and white checkered table cloth add that "italian feel" to the place. It is super casual "plastic cutlery" which is fine given the casual atmosphere and menu pricing. Now, I tried the shrimp diavolo, which was tail off shrimp tossed with spaghetti in a spicy marinara sauce. The sauce was nice and spicy with nicely crushed tomatoes, fragrant garlic and looked to be fresh basil. It arrived at my table piping hot. It was very delicious. I love nothing more than to patronize our local economy by frequenting nice little Mom n Pop restaurants and shops. The selling point was Italian comfort food. While this is not Arthur Avenue, the food was really good. Arancini as good as anything including my own. Pasta dishes were flavourful and the breadstick more of a slice from a slab of focaccia- perfect to mop up the sauces. Pushed ourselves to order side salads - only so many carbs the body can handle. They were fresh and dressings tasty. It is in a uninspired strip mall but do not be turned off by that...good eats can be found in the least expected places. read more

And at first he seemed nice and then says he cant do anything about it but hopes i give them another chance and i asked why i would if u cant do anything about my food not being right and from there he stared yelling and cursing at me and said i was a shitty person. This was my first time eating here and I have to say the customer service is beyond horrible! We arrived around 3pm on a Saturday and there was no other customers but myself and my boyfriend, yet the man at the counter was very rude and gave off the impression that he just didn't want to deal with our presence. If I hadn't been so hungry, I would have turned around and walked out the door. I wanted to see how the food was since I love Italian. The food arrived and I ordered the lasagne. I would give the food a worse rating than the service. It was very blah and looked and tasted like something they just pulled out of the freezer and microwaved! The side salad was bland and microscopic in size. My boyfriend commented that between service and food, He had never had a worse restaurant experience than this one. We were extremely disappointed. We went to eat here during our lunch break, I alone spent over $40 on meals and apps. While looking over the menu, I told the lady at the counter that I was a vegetarian and she recommended several things (including what I ordered), I ended up getting tortellini with vodka sauce. I got my food, ate a few bites thinking it had a weird taste then got a bite of pork. Upon taking it up and calmly letting them know the issue, she was rude but said they would make me Alfredo instead. When they called me up to get my food, the lady was AWFUL. She told me that it wasn't a big deal that I ate meat, it was not very much, and that it didn't matter. I told her that while it didn't matter to her, it was very important to me, as I had not eaten meat in 10 years. She proceeded to take the food they remade from me yelling "is this remake not good enough) and the man that was cooking came and slammed $10 down on the counter. First off, be aware that Wise Guys is more of a fast casual place and not fine dining. It's clean but nothing fancy to wow a date and you'll dine with plastic flatware out of take out containers. Now with that out of the way, it's an awesome place to grab delicious, affordable Italian takeout or a quick meal. My husband and I both really enjoyed our first visit. We ordered quickly at the counter and our food was served shortly. The music was a little loud but very festive (Italian greats). The staff seemed "green" yet very capable and welcoming, which is somewhat expected with a new place. My chicken with vodka sauce had good flavor and perfectly cooked pasta, and the portion was enormous for a low price. At this time it's a very small upcharge for a salad to accompany your entree, and my husband's looked very good along with manicotti he really enjoyed. I love that you are given a nice big piece of grilled focaccia bread here, instead of an anemic flavorless breadstick like you would find at many chains. I'm a San Pellegrino fan so having it chilled was a win for me. We'll certainly be back and can't wait to try other menu items. read more

You don't go to this restaurant for the atmosphere, although it is very clean and pleasant, you go for the food. The pastas are fresh and flavorful. I tried the Shrimp a la vodka and feel in love with it. The focaccia is outstanding. The chef came out and visited with us; a great guy who takes pride in serving high quality food. The average price for an entree is around $6.50 and it is a meal. I think Joplin finally has a quality Italian restaurant and I will be a regular customer. read more

OK. You know an Italian place is judged best on its lasagna, or the meatball and sauce. And if a small place the aromas that greet you. I walked in there and the smells took me back 35 years to my grandmother's home, filled with cooking oders mingled with tomato and garlic. I didn't go with lasagna (because I cook it often and judge harshly being picky!) But we did have some meatballs... Meatballs that have a good stand alone flavor and a sauce that was robust and balanced instead of tasting like pureed tomatoes! I dispise a sauce that is all tomato-acidy! Whaaat? The sauce was RIGHT! The local big chain can't even claim that one! The waitress was a sweetheart, full of smiles even while running about between customers, helping in the kitchen and so forth, the cook in the back was mellow and pleasant and seems to like cooking. My one criticism is the wait....but honestly to do it right (which the cook was from my cooking knowledge) it will take a little extra time. Alfredo made fresh by the order for example. This place is a disappointment almost all the sauces taste bland and underwhelming. The bread that you get with the meals could have saved the experience some but the bread is just soggy unflavored and lame. There are what looks to be grill marks in the bread but there is no crisp to it and tastes like watery butter. If you want to order something to be disappointed this is the place. Hands down the best Italian food I've had in years. Was our first time there tonight and we will without question be back time and time again. The food was amazing the menu has tons of items we want to try. We had the chicken parmesan and the chicken Marsala and they were outstanding. The Cannoli is absolutely delicious and the tiramisu is incredible.
