Take it from a patient that Dr. Wise is the best. Too bad he is semi retired.

Over the last few years, the quality of care at this office has significantly declined. It can be…read moreextremely difficult to get ahold of anyone to make appointments, even after multiple calls and portal messages. My most recent visit was the final straw. Before the provider entered the room, two staff members were loudly discussing my labs, medications, and personal medical information to each other from a clear distance where I could hear one person near my door and the other further away. It made me extremely uncomfortable. When I brought it up to the nurse practitioner seeing me, it was brushed off instead of acknowledged or apologized for, which only made the situation worse. The appointment itself felt rushed, and my concerns were not really addressed. By that point, I was already feeling uncomfortable and dismissed. What disappointed me most was the response afterward. When I told the front desk I would not be rescheduling and would be switching doctors because I felt the situation was unprofessional, I was told, "I don't think so, but OK." That defensive response spoke volumes. Ironically, I had been asked to schedule a more vulnerable follow-up exam there, and after this experience, I could not imagine feeling comfortable returning knowing the same thing could happen again. Patients deserve professionalism, privacy, and to feel heard. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

I have been with this practice for over 5 years. There are times when I think nobody is listening,…read more just inputting notes. My doctor stopped my depression medication without speaking to me.When I went to refill, my pharmacy said it couldnt be filled because it had a STOP on it. Long story short, it was 4 days to get this corrected. I became very anxious and deeply depressed...crying and experiencing brain shudders, also in a moment of panic I cut off all my hair. It was probably a mistake somewhere down the line. I writing this to make aware that 4 days without depression medication can be serious....im lucky to have support , your thoughts can turn worse if its not corrected quickly. I tried to contact my doctor thru the portal, but it wouldn't allow emails for some reason.

I complied and subsequently I called to ask for the results of a particular test. I was told that the lab had not been submitted to them. Over a period of two months, I called 3 additional times and was given the same info. I then found out that Rancho Family has a central answering system and that I could not talk to the doctor's office directly, but that they would expediate the request and I would get a response. That never happened. In April I had a follow up appointment to find out about the results. I found out from Dr. Sotis that he did not have the results of the test 3 1/2 months later. I asked why their office was not notified of my multiple requests, and why I could not talk directly with his office. His answer was " I will let you talk to my assistant, and he can give you an answer" I found it incomprehensible that he was unable to provide me with an answer and just walked out of the room. After about 10 minutes, I met the gentleman. He was apologetic as he provided me with a copy of the lab results. My first question of course was why he had a copy and the doctor did not have that information on his computer. My second question was why they had such a system where a patient has to talk to a third party, who then relays the info to their office. It is clearly not an efficient system. He did not have an answer for any of it. My third concern was that the Doctor did not have the courtesy to come in and apologize for their screw ups. He basically did not care, and that is why he just walked out and I never saw him again. One thing is for sure, I know that he will not hesitate to charge Medicare for his "professional services" of talking to me for 3 or 4 minutes at a usual and customary rate. I will surely contest it if he tries to charge me a copay. It was certainly NOT a medical appointment. Not very professional conduct

I'm so glad that I researched long and hard to find Dr. Matta...another plus for even accepting new…read morepatients. I absolutely hate going to the doctor and it drives my anxiety through the roof just thinking about it. Haven't been to a doctor since my OBGYN when I had my baby almost two years ago and knew that I needed a checkup! She is so sweet and friendly and puts you at ease, there was a nurse there as well (I believe his name was Joel) who was also awesome. I loved the feeling of not being "judged" as I answered all the basic health questions. Dr. Matta has an excellent bedside disposition and calmly answered all my questions without making me feel rushed. She patiently listened to all my concerns without making me feel paranoid and ordered a full blood panel to check all my numbers. I am so lucky to have found her and I'm hoping I can continue with their practice for years to come. Thank you so much for your excellent service!

So my impression is that Dr. Matta is a fabulous Doctor, but she is 100% hindered by the operations…read moreof her office. The office is either severely understaffed or mismanaged. There is a lack of operational efficiency at every turn. Enough to warrant a poor review on Yelp which I hate doing but people....BE WARNED especially if you are expecting timely service while trying to address a health issue. Calling the office is an infinite hold queue that EASILY exceeds 30 minutes. I did my best to give the benefit of the doubt that it was just a busy day but I am now on my 5th attempt to contact this office and my hold time today exceed 41 minutes before I gave up. Our 1st telehealth appointment was confusing, Dr. Matta was late, then there were zero instructions on how to obtain scripts for labs. We weren't informed which lab the requests were sent to. Since you can't efficiently get ahold of anyone on the phone this required my husband to make an extra trip to drive across town to find out in person. Now let's chat about the Patient Portal where we messaged the Doctor on February 11th and the office did not return our call/message for A MONTH. 2nd appointment. Our $100 copay was conveniently collected but our appointment time came and went with zero communication from the office. I remained in a hold queue for 30 minutes, about to hang up when a text comes through with a Zoom link. Dinner is now cold, there is zero respect for patient time and I am expected to join this call as if I was not just completely inconvenienced at the cost of $100. At the end of the day we are all trying to navigate a broken system. Practices that have zero respect for patient time are not helping. I can't in good faith recommend this office with my recent experience that spanned over a few months.
