    Weißbier obatzda!
    Hannah Y.

A late night dinner reserved for four; we met two friends at 9pm on a Monday evening so I can try Bavarian food for the first time. The open space interior was inviting with an open patio that was quiet that evening. Don't be surprised to see American tourists here What I had: W E I ß B I E R O B A T Z D A [ 5,90€ ] If you have never tried obatzda, it is a silky heavenly, cream cheese Camembert European butter dream. It's strong on the palette, but I'm assuming it goes well with bier (something I do not consume). You can spread it on rolls or brezels, or little grissini sticks. Apparently this is an appetizer, but to me, it's a meal in one sitting x

Our party of 4 was able to be seated quickly without a reservation on a Saturday night. Decent food at a decent price. English menus are available and service was friendly. I didn't find the food to be the best Bavarian food, but it wasn't bad!

Decided to go here after seeing such great yelp reviews. And certainly glad we did! Thankfully the bartender and one waitress spoke English and they have a menu in English. The menu was very large with many authentic German options to choose from. We both eat schnitzel, I got weiner schnitzel and my boyfriend ate Munich style schnitzel. It was delicious and reasonably priced!!! During lunchtime it wasn't too busy but I could see this place filling up for dinner and which point it would probably be very loud. I would highly recommend stopping by here for a beer or bite to eat, you won't regret it!

Cozy atmosphere, perfect escape from the rain. Very attentive and nice waiter who gave us good recommendations. I had the pork roast which had delicious crispy skin, however some parts of the meat itself was quite rough so I could not eat it all. The parts that were tender was very tasty. It came with slaw which was light and refreshing compared to the meat, and dense potato dumplings which I was not a fan of (seemed more gelatin-based than potato-based) but my friend really like them..not very flavorful but a nice side to accompany the meat and pick up the sauce the dish came with. I also had the beef ball soup..the broth was light and slightly sweet, very flavorful. The meatballs were good, not something I would typically pick on my own so glad I got to try them. My friend had the schnitzel which was nicely fried and really tasty. It came with a fresh veggie salad. Lots of beer options and reasonably priced.

We would definitely come back again and would highly recommend this place. Everything from the drinks, bread with special butters, soups, truffle pasta, chicken with a pastry top version of a chx pot pie and some other entrees were all terrific. The apple dessert did not disappoint either - yum ( need to order ahead to give it 25 mins or so ) First rate -don't miss this gem of a restaurant! . Thx you for a wonderful dinner! Enjoy

Pretty good restaurant. Really enjoyed the ambiance the most. Especially because it's away from all…read morethe touristy stuff. The amuse bouche was bread with two spread and a cold pea soup. The soup was refreshing and I really enjoyed it. The bread was good as well. One of the spreads was obazda dip which I love. I thought they made it ok. We started with the veal ravioli. They were tender and tasted pretty good. I had the restaurant special which was basically a chicken pot pie. I thought it was good but I've had better. I thought the chicken was over cooked and the capers inside was a bit off putting to me because there were so many and made the whole dish too sour for me. It was a bit off putting. My friend had the fillet with white asparagus and potatoes and hollandaise sauce. It was basic but I preferred her dish. The dessert had strawberry and tarragon I believe. It was well balanced, not too sweet, and I liked the herbs with the dessert. They also had a nice drink menu and a good variety of wines. They did not let us try the wine before pouring it which I expected since this is a nice place. Overall thought the service was decent but not great.

Sometimes I look at the conglomerate reviews for a place and I question why they're generally low…read more I try to keep an open mind about a restaurant's purpose, size, cuisine, location etc. to establish a reasonable expectation of service, food and decor. So I felt that for it's purpose, being an Italian restaurant, in the heart of Munich, during Oktoberfest, L'Osteria was hitting! I saw a line when we first got there which made me nervous because we didn't have any reservations. So I quickly made an online reservation on the spot. It didn't end up being needed because the host sat us where we preferred, at a table just inside the establishment but close enough to the outdoor seating to get a little bit of both worlds. We had a nice view of the Famtain [Hotel] building as well as Karlsplatz Square. So it seemed that a 10 min.+ wait was worth it. We immediately got drinks, specifically the Passionfruit Aperal Spritz which was so good. It's the perfect drink after a long day of walking in the heat. We also ordered a pizza, split with Spicy Pepperoni and Chicken Bacon Ranch. I wonder if we were type-cast as Americans when the Chicken Bacon Ranch part was suggested to us. Don't tell them that I told you it was good! We also had the most delicately sliced Carpaccio with just the right amount of parmesan on top. I loved all of it! So listen, for the bad reviews, I don't know what happened. I think the place is solid. You might have to wait a few minutes to be seated but the turnover should be quick enough for you to get a nice spot. If you're visiting the city it's in a nice central location. Keep your expectations reasonable and you should have a great time!

Pasta was ok with a good sized portiin of cheese. Lasagna was piping hot but nothing fancy or unique. Pizzas here are popular, big but thin crust and minimal toppings.
