Where do I begin? The amazing food? The great service? The cool atmosphere? The blend of old-school and hip? Servus Heidi ticks all boxes, and is always a must when I am visiting Munich. For those who are new to Bavarian culture, this is a great place to get exposed to the food and beer of the region. And for those more exposed, it is a great place to get some of the best executed versions of traditional Bavarian cuisine. One is always greeted with a smile by the young and fun staff. The are hip and hospitable, making all guests feel welcome regardless of how you are dressed or where you are from. My go to has always been their Schnitzel: a perfectly pounded, breaded, and fried pork cutlet. It is expertly seasoned and served with an addictive berry condiment that compliments it perfectly with its sweet and sour notes. Other stars of the menu are all of the wursts, as well as the starters including the beef tartar and the pretzels. SH serves Paulaner, which is one of the best beers in the land of beer. Servus Heidi came recommended from a friend who lives in Munich and ended up being my favourite dining experience of the entire trip! While not entirely traditional, they definitely had the best vibe. Small, cozy, fun, and absolutely amazing food and service to boot! I love the modern take on the traditional Bavarian classics. For starters, we had the beef tartare dish which came with pickled vegetables and an apple/cheese dish which I forgot the name of. Both were very tasty and quite filling. For mains, we opted for a pork belly dish and a roast beef dish. They were fantastically cooked and delicious. Even the accompanying salads were great. Wish we had room for dessert as they looked super interesting. Even with a late dinner at 8pm, this place was lively late into the night. The servers were very lovely, checking in on us every so often and clearly having fun with the all the guests. Our food took a little while to get out to us, not that we minded, but our server brought us a round of shots to make up for it at the end of our meal! I was there two night this trip. One reason was it's so close to our hotel, the second reason is because the food is solid. I are the schnitzel twice and loved it as much both times. Last night we were there later and it was a Friday. They took a six top and asked if the two of us would share it with two others. I said sure. I suggested the schnitzel to them and they both ordered it as well. Both the man and the women plowed it down and said thank you for the recommendation. The schnitzel is served with a cranberry jam and redskin potatoes. It's delicious. On the second trip my dad got the bruschetta as his main. He didn't seem to enjoy that. I did give him some schnitzel. Downside, it gets busy and takes forever to get your check to leave. Also it is a very small menu. Upside it'll the food, at least the one dish, is solid. The staff is super friendly. One word of advice for US folks, is if you pay with a card ask them to put tip on before the my run the card. I didn't know that and they couldn't put it on after. To my surprise, Since we didn't have cash, the server said it's okay, you US folks don't realize this and not different than home, plus you waited awhile. So please don't worry about a tip and I just thank you for coming. Super nice of him even though I felt awful. read more

Loved everything we ate - Apps = Hash brown goat cheese combo and Bruschetta w/ mushrooms. Pork belly melted in your mouth. I subbed spinach spätzle instead of my potatoes (best decision ever) w/ my schnitzel. Roast beef w/ caramelized onions was filling and flavorful. Great portion sizes for the price (including VAT). This restaurant was amazing. I came in by myself on a Saturday evening and they found a spot for me at a tiny bar. The pork belly dish was the best meal I've had in the past week in Bavaria. The beer is top notch. It maybe is a tad overpriced but the quality is A+ and it's worth it. Highly recommend. Would return again if not leaving town tomorrow. read more

Some slight drawbacks - the location isn't too excellent for dining outdoors with the nearby road being too loud. This was our first time in Munich and the front desk person recommended Servus Heidi when we checked in. We arrived around 9:30pm on a warm Friday in October. The place was full (which appeared to be locals and not tourists. The hostess informed us they were completely booked and couldn't seat us. I proceeded to make a comment about how long our day was and how far we had walked from our hotel so she offered us bar seating, which was ok with us. Upon sitting down, the bartender gave us drink and food menus. He helped us pick a beer and they were very good from local breweries. We then ordered an appetizer of cheese spread and pretzels and they were also very good. Our entrees were delicious - duck, meatballs and the rouladen. All three were excellent choices. By this point we were full but had to try one of their desserts. We ordered the chocolate cake and it was outstanding. Did I mention the bartender spoke perfect English and chatted with us during our visit. We would recommend this place without hesitation. read more
