I discovered this bar thanks to a friend of mine, that invited us all for a little get together…read more You have to know that I highly trust this person concerning bar advice, as he recommended me several of my now favourite places.. I was first intrigued by the name and didn't remember ever going there... and indeed, this bar opened not so long ago. As soon as I enter I found that the atmosphere was very pleasant. The dim light and the nice decor, with dark tones and a rustically minimalistic feeling had a nice, clear touch to it. This place is all about the cocktails. No doubt that this is a gentleman's bar. All the bartenders are wearing a vest, shirt, slacks combination and are very professional indeed. This place is owned by New York born Bill Fehn, around Munich known for his cocktail mastery. You might recognise him if you have ever been to Bar Reichenbach near Gärtnerplatz, or many places previous to this one. He has this very particular style and an impressive beard. Also him being the man that my trusted friend followed trough so many different establishments. As he is 'one of the best cocktail artist in town'. So I was already sure I would not be disappointed even before ordering. I had several drinks, that are not the usual cocktails that you might find on most menus, but some unique creations that are very tasty indeed! I noticed that Jaded Monkey also serves food. I didn't try it myself, as I was not hungry, but one of my friends at the table did. It looked very appetising. All I can say in the end is this: I highly recommend this place!

Awesome late-night bar in Munich! Highly recommend. Cool drinks, open until 3 am, fun place.read more

Don't hesitate to walk in the restaurant on the first floor and walk up the spiral staircase to get there. It's a cool dim vibe. There's a grand piano in there that I believe anyone can play. I noticed a few different people sit down and tickle the ivories without asking anyone permission. Feel free to challenge the bartenders to make ANY drink. He scoffed at my request for a White Russian saying it was so easy. It ended up being one of the best I've ever had! Highly recommend you check this place out if you are tired from exploring Munich and want to take a load off.

Loved this place so much that I came twice during my trip! It's located on the first floor (which…read moreis actually the 2nd floor if you're North American) of the 25 Hours Hotel. Going in, you're lined with type writers on the left and a drawing station on the right complete with stamps, pencil crayons, and what I assume is charcoal. Paper as well as envelopes are provided as well. Too bad I couldn't figure out how to work the typewriters. So cute! I think I liked this bar so much because of the decor. There are super comfortable and plush, royal chairs or you can choose to take a seat by the window area, complete with cozy cushions. Tons of coffee table books on the shelves. Vinyl collection on another wall. A small piano in the middle. A random swan chair and a gigannnntic book at the front. You can seat yourself and the waiter will bring the menu to you. No ordering directly from the bar. There are lots of drinks to choose from. We tried about twelve drinks and they were all delicious, though some were made a little strong. They are reasonably priced, with most of the drinks being about €7. I would 100% recommend checking it out if you're in Munich.

If I could give Zephyr 10 out of 5 stars I would. Legit some of the best cocktails I've ever had…read more(and I've had a lot of cocktails). My boyfriend and I got to Zephyr around 8:30 on a Friday and every seat was already taken. This place is tiny, and popular. Eventually we were able to grab one bar seat (while my boyfriend stood next to me). By the time we left, this tiny bar was so packed there were at least two rows of people standing in the 5 foot space behind the bar. Honestly, it was a bit claustrophobic -- but worth it. We had four drinks, and each one was better than the last. Sitting at the bar, I got to see some real effort going into cocktail making and presentation. Usually pretty cocktails lack substance, but these drinks were both delicious and interesting to look at. Some were served in Chinese containers. Others had a croissant on top. We got two drinks off the menu. But, Twice, we asked the bartender to make us a drink, and each time he absolutely hit the nail on the head. My final drink -- some sort of Smokey grapefruit concoction felt like The bartender pulled my ideal drink out of my head and brought it to life. The service was also excellent. Even though the bar was packed, I never had to wait too long for a drink. And the bartenders were so kind about offering recs, and didn't scorn me for only speaking English. When I saw one person order a popcorn cocktail I asked if I could too. Although he was out of popcorn, he made just a little bit extra and gave me a shot glass worth of the drink to try (amazing -- no wonder he won a cocktail competition with it). And, the clincher was my dumb ass forgot my wallet (which is particularly terrifying as a tourist). I sent them an instagram message the next morning when I realized. When they opened again the next night I went back. Although the bar was packed, they handed me my wallet the second I walked in. Most bars would have taken the cash out and called it a dumb tourist tax (justified) and claimed some bar patron took it. But nope, everything was there and I was extremely grateful. If you visit Munich, do yourself a favor and visit this bar. It opens at 8, and If you want a seat, that would be a great time to go.

I ordered the Mahogany Brown and absolutely loved it, the caramel rim was the perfect touch, almost like having a little dessert after dinner. I also tried my friends' cocktails, and each one was unique, creative, and perfectly balanced. One even arrived in a Chinese takeout box with a fortune cookie, which was such a fun surprise! Can't wait to come back and try more.

Augustiner Bräustuben was unfortunately one of the biggest disappointments of our Munich trip. I…read morereally wanted to love this place given its reputation, but the experience fell far short. We ordered the pork knuckle, pretzel with beer cheese, and beer. The pork knuckle arrived cold and lacked flavor, while the pretzel didn't seem particularly fresh either. The beer pour was especially disappointing--the amount of foam/head was ridiculous, and for a place associated with such a famous brewery, I expected a much better pour. The photos really speak for themselves. Service was the biggest issue. We repeatedly tried to get someone's attention to place our order, but the servers seemed to avoid eye contact and kept waiting for someone else to help us. Even getting the check was a struggle--we eventually had to get up and go to a counter ourselves. It felt like the staff had little interest in actually serving the customers. The atmosphere itself has the traditional Bavarian beer hall feel, but unfortunately, the poor food, disappointing beer pour, and especially the terrible service completely overshadowed it. I really wanted to like this place, but based on our experience, there are much better beer halls and beer gardens in Munich.
