First meal in Munich, and it was absolutely delicious. The service was great, but be sure to make a reservation before you arrive. We got lucky, but it looked like most tables were already reserved in advance. I ordered the Munich Meatballs which were extremely delicious. If I had to give one critique I would say it was a little salty, but coming from America we are accustomed to that. It was so delicious. My meatballs came with a substantial side of potatoes which were SO GOOD! I've never had potatoes like that, sort of vinegar-y but sweet and with greens. Yum. My bf ordered a chicken special and he said it reminded him of his grandmother's cooking. Only one other restaurant in Italy has that same stamp of approval from him. Lovely authentic German dinner! My husband and I stopped by here Saturday. It's a small classic German restaurant, reservations encouraged but we didn't have one so they sat us in the back at a shared table. We had the 9 wiener plate served with sauerkraut, and a pretzel. We also split the pork schnitzel with potato salad. Both dishes were delicious! I'd order them both again. For dessert we had their homemade Apple fritters (3 total in one order) served with berries and homemade ice cream. Wow! This was the best fritter I've ever had. We are from the US and are used to the fritters being mainly dough but this one was packed with apples. The service was great, our waitress spoke English, all the fellow guests were German, beer was cold and highly recommend this place. read more

I didn't know that you need reservation for brunches in Germany.... We were supposed to go to the Arts and Boards nearby, but that place has a 30min wait. Since I need to catch a flight, we decided to try his place. I ordered the "variety" breakfast which basically has everything on the plate. That was a lot of food! Outstanding. Sat outside on a nice day, tucked in a quiet neighborhood, but close to so many areas. We were very fortunate to attend on the celebration of their asparagus menu. Wonderfully prepared white asparagus with the most yummy hollandaise sauce was top shelf. The schnitzel was huge and prepared to German standards. The beer, what can one say, was perfect. My first impression walked into the restaurant Gasthaus Weinbauer was like walked into a hunter house, also felt like the restaurant in the woods. It was quite cool, I guess the whole style of the place seem to be just meant for this, there were some animal trophies and green all around the places. And some they sure got their own humor. I found the place has a really great atmosphere for dinner. The service was quite nice and efficient. After my friends and I sat down not long later, we could order something. And it did take long to get our drinks. We all ordered different kind of food from the menu, there were quite many different offers. Schnitzel, beefs and some special homemade dishes. I really enjoyed the food I ordered. I ordered the Bavarian duck from their special menu, which was only writing in German. Not sure if there also wrote that in English somewhere inside the house. The dish was really great, I even could said that was one of the best dishes I tasted so far in Germany. The potion of the dish was great as well. plus the beer together, that was just fantastic. I was really happy with the food and my friends as well. One small thing, just in case you didn't know, their toilet's signs are writing in the Bavarian language. "Buam" is for men, "Madln" is for women. Don't mix up. The location of this place is quite nice, not so difficult to find. From the U-Bahn station Feilitzschplatz to here, it took about 5-10 mins on foot. For me, this is a great place to have dinner with friends. I am sure, I would like pay a visit again when I'm in Munich. read more

After walking around the English garden all afternoon and the local street fair, I waited until just after 5:30 to try this restaurant. Had the King Cordon Blue which had a wonderful emmental and salami along with a thin pork in a perfectly done battering. Salad was OK. Would definitely come back. read more

Came in on our first day in Munich and were the only Americans. In fact, the Germans sitting at the communal table with us were shocked that we heard about this very local restaurant. Food was delicious with vegetarian options for our son. Service was fantastic. People were fantastic. Wonderful experience. If possible, we will go back. Excellent and authentic Bayrisch/German food. Visited with a local friend, who received recommendations from a few other locals when asked the best place in Munich for typical Bayrish/German kitchen. Beer, as always, is delicious. I had the Semmelknödel with mushrooms and a cream sauce, one of the few vegetarian dishes available (in all fairness, one does not typically go to eat Bayrisch food when vegetarian, seeing as the meal is almost always centered around meat and some variation of potatoes). This was very filling and delicious. On the plate it looks like a dough ball in a sort of cream soup with mushrooms--sounds odd but I promise it is great. We sat in the Biergarten, which had a nice atmosphere, filled with mostly Germans. The meal came to about 12-15€ per person. Reservations can be made online and probably best for the weekend and when a Biergarten place is preferred. read more

This place was very tasty! Got a parking ticket, because well...I am dumb, but it was worth it. Had a reservation for my self and was sat at a table with another gentleman from the US so it was nice to chat. Apparently that's a thing in Europe, sitting with other solo riders. Not a problem, just be aware. He recommended the Ox soup, which was fantastic. It was a meaty thin broth with some noodles and sliced veggies, along with bite-size chunks of Ox which had a roast beef flavor and was very tender. For my main meal I ventured out side of my comfort zone and did the Weinbauer's Kaiserschnitzle. It's a veal schnitzel with a perfect crust that has been treated with sweet mustard and some other flavors. Biting in gives you a bit of a sweet hit...but the meat and the mustard flavors go great together. It was so far the best schnitzel I've had in Germany. The decor is simple and very rustic feeling and it's not a super fancy get dressed up place. The waitstaff was great and the place was packed. I may have to risk another ticket and try something else tomorrow! read more

Get their specialty schnitzel and/or dumplings, they are both off the charts delicious! Our waiter spoke English and was really nice and helpful, recommending beers and stuff. A very typical Bavarian restaurant but not too old fashioned. The crew is young and quick. The food is great. Price is right. Beer is good. Location is brilliant. It's not as loud as in other touristy Bavarian restaurants if you know what I mean. Really enjoyed the evening with some friends. If you are alone or with a partner and there is no table the waiter will find a seat if you don't mind to share a table with somebody. Will go again soon. :-) read more

This Bavarian-looking place can be seen as wonderful or disappointing depending on what you would order! The Weinbauerschnitzel was truly exquise, one of the best I've had in Munich so far! The Käsespätzle though, were so disappointing.... The cheese tasted nothing, even with an extra portion of it nicely brought to us by the waiter! It's actually the most disappointing Käsespätzle I've eaten in Munich.... Good Kaiserschmarrn, but not a must-try either. We've been three or four times now, and this is at the top of our list to take out-of-town guests (my boyfriend's parents, for example, who are Swiss-German foodies, loved it) for food and atmosphere. There are even a few vegetarian options aside from the usual Kässpätzle. The waiters and waitresses are cool, service is quick. Atmosphere is a good balance between traditional and stylish, with groups of older guys still hanging out there just for beers (good sign!). We make reservations. They're a Hacker-Pschorr beer place, which is a nice switch from all the Augustiner places that you see downtown or the super-tourist destination Hofbräuhaus. They don't serve Schweinehaxe though, if that's the traditional food you're hankering after. read more

One of the best schnitzels and potatoes I have ever had. I wish I had room for the kaiserschmarrn but the main alone is a lot of food. I would prefer something other than Hacker-Pschorr but I can get over that for the schnitzel. Go, you won't be disappointed. read more
