GENERAC INSTALLATION; DO YOUR RESEARCH & SHOP DEALERS Firstly, I want to give credit where credit is due. My 2 stars are exclusively for the Wired Electric crew who does the manual part of generator installation. Kudos to them all; Mason, Greg, Jacob, the digging crew, and everyone else who installed, moved, and reinstalled my Generac when it was moved to a safe location. They were all truly kind, professional, and did a fantastic job. Here are the condensed facts of my story. My main purpose in posting this is to prevent this from happening to anyone else. I own a nice old frame house that is on blocks and has a crawlspace all around. I entrusted Wired Electric to install it in a safe location. I was ignorant of the fact that an 18KW Generac could ever emit carbon monoxide into my home. May 29th our area had a bad storm that knocked out power for 3 days, therefore my generator ran for a continuous period (for the 1st time) for 12 hours. At that point, my CO alarm went off. Thinking it was just the battery, I changed it and went back to bed. (this was 12:30 am) The alarm sounded again about 2 minutes later, so I went outside and called 911 and the fire department came. My house had a 54 PPM reading so we had to evacuate and turn off the generator. The firefighters informed me they had seen this scenario before, and that the fumes were hitting the wall of my house and going underneath through the crawlspace. After speaking with the owner, I was told I would have to pay to have it moved a few feet out and turn the fume side towards the road. I was completely shocked by the owner's attitude and comments. I then felt the need to contact Generac directly, which I did. The location of the generator had three strikes against it; distance, alcove, 3 ft. from an opening (crawlspace; see photo) Only because of my case file and discussions with Generac, I was then offered 2 choices; 1 to move a short distance and turn free of charge; 2 to move to my 2nd choice of spots in my yard much further away. My preferred choice was not an option. I naturally chose the free option but was extremely uncomfortable and worried it would not be safe there. Neither Generac nor Wired will guarantee that. I had to wait for 9 weeks. Consequently, I lost food and had to leave my home during Beryl, while my 11-month-old 18kw generator sat idle. After much discussion over the phone on the scheduled day of the move, I agreed to pay a discounted amount to move to my actual preferred location. Despite the cost, I would then have peace of mind, believing that was the safest and best decision. I do completely understand and very much appreciate how much time and manpower it takes for installation, but the bottom line is that I would have gladly paid the extra cost up front when I purchased it in Sept. 2023. Again, I trusted that it was being put in a safe place. The unit should never have been installed in the original spot. In conclusion, I hope that customers do extensive research on the actual placement of their generator prior to purchase, regarding their particular home. In addition, having two carbon monoxide detectors is essential. I am very blessed to still be here to submit this review. Needless to say, this whole experience has been very eye opening and stressful. Think more than twice about choosing your Generac dealer.

This is how much the breaker ACTUALLY costs at any hardware store.

Reaching out to this business was straight-forward, I emailed them and a kind woman called me by phone to setup an appointment. With any questions that she didn't know the answer to, she redirected me to email it so an electrician can better answer my question. I had my appointment scheduled and the gentleman, Doc, was assigned to perform the inspection. Doc arrived on-time, was detail oriented in his inspection, and was very patient to explain his findings and recommendations on what were a safety concern first, and what could be addressed later. He explained things over the phone thoroughly and explained his thought process and was open to any questions I had without being annoyed. Within a day, I received his inspection report, a quote for the project/repairs needed, and pictures of the inspection. He was also easy to reach by text. Doc was professional, courteous, and responsive. The cost of the inspection, I think, was a decent value. I highly recommend Veteran Electric to anyone seeking a safety electrical inspection and I hope I'm able to say the same about their quality of work when I hire them for electrical projects. Give this gentleman a raise.

We had a sales person (Matt) came for an estimate for standby home generator on April 30, 2026. We…read moresigned the contract and paid for a deposit with credit card. We applied for their Synchrony Bank payment plan with no interest for 18 months. After sales guy left I checked the location of the proposed area and saw that there is a vent there. I called and emailed him. He said he didn't know what type of vent but the generator is vertically 5' away from the vent and 5' away from a window. However, the generator is NOT 5' horizontally from the vent. We also told GenPro sales guy it takes 30 days for HOA approval. GenPro emailed us the estimate on May 5. I applied for permit with HOA on May 5 after talking to sales guy and receiving his drawn in generator in my pictures that I sent him. Meanwhile I emailed our builder (May 3) and independent home inspector (May 6) to find out what type of vent is near the proposed location. We thought the fresh air intake vent is on the roof. It took them a few days and we received replies on May 6. They confirmed that it is the fresh air intake vent. So when the generator emits carbon monoxide it would travel approximately 59-60" up into the fresh air intake. Yes I took into account the concrete pad and the top of the generator. I measured the vertical distance from the height of the generator to the bottom of the vent. On May 6, their install team emailed and said they would do installation on May 18. I told GenPro to hold off on everything as I am waiting for HOA approval and I am not comfortable with the proposed location and need to do more research. This was the same day I received replies from builder and home inspector. GenPro then sent a field supervisor to my house on May 8 to answer questions. He said GenPro would move the location further along the wall and we would not have to pay for the extra electrical and gas trenching cost. This would mean there is about 20' between the generator and AC where we can't push the lawnmower in. We have a narrow lot. We do not feel this is best for us. In addition when time comes replacing the AC unit would have to be lifted above the generator. There is no gate on the side with the AC and proposed generator. Meanwhile Synchrony Bank charged us 50% of the balance on May 1 (over $6,000). I received an email of the CC balance on the account and it is due 6-2-2026. I did not receive the Synchrony credit card in the mail until May 11 and have not even activated the credit card. I have emailed GenPro on May 11 to cancel, request deposit refund and charge back to the Synchrony amount. I have not heard from them. BEWARE of this company. The sales team just cared about making the sale. If I had not questioned the proposed location GenPro would have installed the generator at a location that is UNSAFE and possible leading to death. See my picture of the vent and GenPro's marked up of where the generator would be.
