We coordinated with him to have our hot tub hard wired upon delivery. He came days before the delivery date, on time, to see what the situation was and what all he might need, gave a fair estimate, spelled out possible reasons it might be more, and explained everything in terms I understood. He returned the day of delivery to get things rolling before the hot tub was delivered and kept me appraised of his progress, including the snag that he warned me could happen (old, underground conduit inhibiting the pulling of wire). He finished up, I filled and heated up the hot tub and was in it the next night. Plus he followed up a few days later to make sure everything was good. Bottom line, he was professional, courteous, on time and an all around good guy.

I hired Modern Solutions (found off Yelp) in July of 2021. I was looking to do a garage conversion…read moreproject and while interviewing several companies, Modern Solutions was the only one to see my true vision, meet my budget and have availability. I was very excited to work with them. Xavier was very friendly. Before I had even agreed to hire them, they were working. Getting architectural plans and even helping to build a shed in my backyard in their spare time, to remove all of the items in the garage. At the time, I didn't see it as fishy...now I wonder. Before signing the contract, Xavier and I had to go back and forth, at least 5 times, to make changes. Finally, when we agreed and I signed, I was to pay 33% to begin the project. Xavier was desperate for the money, so wanted me to do an instant wire transfer. For some reason my bank flagged this. So we canceled and I sent a bill payment online. This too was flagged. I went into my bank ready to question why this kept happening. First thing they asked me was...have you researched this company? Well...yes a little. Clearly not enough. Here's where I will break it down for you, so you can make your choice about whether or not you'd like to work w/ this company. 1. Prior to November of 2020, this company was called Marcus Construction & Development (I encourage you to Yelp this company and read reviews). 2. This company is licensed in Arizona. Not Washington (no idea why). 3. This company, after changing its name, had to re-apply for their license in February of 2021. 4. Check BBB. Do a simple web search for Modern Solutions Construction LLC and see what it brings up. If you see the names Malachi and/or Xavier...those two run this company and that is accurate. 5. The website they have listed here is bunk. They have no website. Look for Marcus Construction & Development's website. They have one. After the things I learned, I amicably attempted to let the company go and offer to pay for the costs accrued as of current, in good faith. In return I was given screen grabs of amounts out of their account. When I asked for a detailed invoice, I was threatened. Xavier said he'd come to my yard to take materials he'd paid for (there were none) and put my house under a lien. He also threatened an attorney. This situation is still pending. I have filed a police report and opened a claim with the WA State Attorney General to have them investigated. But I wanted to get this out there for all that are currently considering this company. You don't have to believe me, but please just do your due diligence before you hire them.

I had brain surgery 3 months ago, I really don't need this crap. Don't recommend nd, still finding roofing nails around my house. Update. They did try to make it right in a way. I have to give them credit for that. That turns this review from a 1 to a 3. The damage to the interior of my house still exists and is ultimately up to me to fix. The roofing is fixed and the flashing is done to standard after having them come back and do it right the second time. They will throw the contract at you so make sure it covers you "the customer" up front if you decide to go with this company. Original: This is an extremely unprofessional, overpriced company that does not stand by the work they do and will not remedy issues caused by their company. Like other reviewers say, there is a language barrier while work is happening. While they are at your house, WATCH THEM LIKE A HAWK and video them being unprofessional if you have to. They did the job incorrectly on my roof vents, drip edge and flashing. Customer should be able to trust a contractor.... you can't trust them. PERIOD. The "toss" heavy roof material leaving cracks in drywall and damage to your house, which they will not take responsibility for. They even damaged my kitchen cabinets due to the vibration and rough work leaving my new cabinets coming off the wall. They simply blow debris around to "clean up" your yard. it's disgusting and these people don't deserve to be in business. They are absolutely not worth the price and only care about money. Rude customer service, cross out the liability section in your contract. . I'm disgruntled.

It started by replacing the decking on all 3 levels with new PVC decking. Next they replace the rails with new, modern wire railing. Next they added artificial doggie turf and then added beautiful stonework to replace old pavers. When I asked if they could add a pond feature, they literally built the most beautiful pond in less than 24 hours! No exaggeration. Less than 24 hours. Then they added a bench with hidden storage for our deck. Let me assure you that this is the best landscaping and construction company in Washington State. There is no team better. Ommy did a wonderful job on my backyard landscaping. However, he said that I didn't need a building…read morepermit and now a friend told me that I likely did need one and I don't know what to do. But even if I didn't need one, a good friend of mine had Ommy build a retaining wall for her and told her that she didn't need a permit. Well, she did, and Ommy didn't help her. It all fell on her shoulders to have the wall he installed removed, get the permits (which required engineering work), and have it installed again. It was extremely stressful and costly for her. The thing is that Ommy is a very nice and creative person. But I have a bad taste in my mouth because of my friend's experience and now because I don't know if my lack of having a building permit will haunt me. The fear, uncertainty, and doubt already is. Following up to Danielle's comment... Danielle, Two things: 1) I was never aware that my water feature isn't "permanent", and that therefore, a permit wasn't required. Ommy told me verbally that a permit wasn't needed and I trusted him. Yes, I am responsible for the electrical. 2) About my friend's honesty: She is part of a very tight cohort of friends including me. I have known her well for almost ten years, and we heard the entire story (from her perspective, it's true) for the last year. I believe her. My suggestion to you is that in the future you explicitly state in your contract whether a building permit is necessary or not, and have the owner initial the clause. Avoid "he said, she said" arguments. That's what good contracts are for.

We hired Model Remodel to do a little updating on our newly-purchased home (built in 1949). The…read morehouse had undergone some recent updating, but we wanted to knock down a few walls and get rid of some carpeting. After a while it became clear that we were doing an almost full remodel of the main areas of the home! The Model Remodel team was so great to work with though. Jason L walked us through a lot at the beginning of the project, then handed us over to Jasun S (who was our project manager) and George (who was the one that did the most work on the house). I can't say enough good things about them. They worked on the house before we moved in, so they got to know our neighbors before we did, and they represented us really well. We've heard about how friendly they were, how professional, and how respectful they were of the neighbors and neighborhood. The work they did was really top-notch. I've learned to have a very keen eye for small details now (thanks to Jasun), because MRM notices every small little thing and they don't settle for less than perfect. As mentioned earlier, the house had undergone some updating before it went up for sale, and thank goodness we had MRM come in afterwards; they cleaned up so many things that the previous contractor did wrong or poorly...it seemed like every time they opened up a new wall we found something else that was wrong (to quote the electrician, "this is one of the best hack jobs I've ever seen, but it's still a hack job.") We went into the project with a vague idea of what we wanted (remove walls and carpeting), and as the project grew, Jasun S did an excellent job of walking us through options, offering advice and guidance when it was needed, and educating us throughout the process. Both George and Jasun S were more than willing to go above and beyond what I would consider 'normal' customer service to get the job done, and to make sure we were completely happy with how the project turned out. They even salvaged siding from another job that was due to be thrown out in order to give us the warm and wood-sy man-cave we both wanted! One of the best parts was a custom-designed and built wine storage drawer under the stairs; it holds over 50 bottles of wine, and easily slides under the stairs to maximize the space and allow for more storage. It's definitely one of the best talking points of our whole house. It's been 4 months since they completed, and there's not a day that goes by that we don't stop, look around, and exclaim "I love our house." We really do, and I know that it is because of the care, craftsmanship and quality that Model Remodel put into it for us. I would 100% recommend them to anyone looking to do a remodel (or new build), regardless of how big or small.

Once we were able to start building, Jacob took over the project as my project manager. Jacob is an absolute rockstar and is truly so good at what he does. He's knowledgeable, assertive, and detail oriented. I always felt he really cared what my concerns were and genuinely wanted to make sure I was happy with every detail. Jacob contacted all my vendors so he understood down to the hour when equipment was being dropped off and organized all of it!
