Needed a shower fan exhaust hose hooked up to a vent. They came out, installed the new vent and hooked up the existing hose in about 30 minutes. This was the day after our bid. After it was all said and done it came out to 485.20 for the job overall. Fair price for quick and honest work. Didn't feel like they were trying to hustle more money out of me at all. read more

Love this company. I had to get the eves repaired on my house for a refinance they offered my two choices for it which gave me an option of spending less upfront for the repairs. The work they did for the lower priced options was very good and was completed in one day. Based on many other reviews I presume Hanley does quality work. However, their bid for our project was almost twice those from two other major roofing companies, and was not detailed enough to determine why. There were also several errors in the bid which individually were relatively minor, but collectively caused us to question overall attention to detail. Our estimator was very responsive and stated that our project would be very labor intensive. I spoke to the owner who was also responsive but had different answers such as other companies use inferior materials and their bids I provided did not include fascia. After I asked how those could account for such a large discrepancy in the bids (almost $50K), he said "they do what they do, we do what we do." He may be right about that, and again his company may do quality work, however our confidence was lost based on lack of consistency, attention to detail, and transparency. read more

Came into their bethel rd location, my brother got out of the truck to go do something else while i finished a call in the truck, i was going to inquire about roofing repairs on a home im selling but as soon as my brother got out of the truck he was greeted by a hostile Hanley employee that didnt even bother asking our business before initiating an aggressive attitude. This seems to be their first approach to the public and all i could do is leave instead of engaging in a fight with this person. There are better companies in the area, nobody should have to deal with this behavior, it isnt welcome in our town. read more

Jose, Ishmael and Chris were polite, professional and efficient fixing my storm damaged roof.They noticed some defects made to the roof from initial construction while making repairs. Fixing the initial defect was just time and labor- and they were very fair in billing for this. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was always prompt to answer my calls and emails with my frequent questions as we waited in queue for repairs (it was a tough winter and it took us a while to get the crew booked). I had been using Hanleys for three years to clean gutters and maintain the roof. They had always been difficult to pin down on a schedule, instead, wanting to just "drive by" when they had workers that needed work to see if they could do the work "right now." I always had to work at negotiating a schedule. When I received my bill, I always paid within the due date without fail. This last year, when I finally got them scheduled to come out out and clean the gutters, inspect the roof, put on moss powder, etc, I had specified the day before that if there were any questions or issues, could they pls resolve prior to the time that I had to go to work in my office to take a conference call with a client as once the call started, I would not be able to answer any questions. The job was straight forward - clean the gutters, sprinkle moss powder. Charges were similar every year. On the morning they were scheduled to arrive, their office manager called me "DURING THE CONFERENCE CALL" on my cell phone for which I picked up while I put my client on mute. The office manager demanded that I pay them right now 1/2 of the estimated cost via a credit card or else they were not going to do the work. Now, I live an almost $1M home, have never been late with my payments, and had not asked for anything more than what I ever asked for - we're talking a $600 job to clean my gutters (big roof). Given I had my client on hold and my wallet was no where near by, I asked her if they could pls do the work they committed to and I would pay them as soon as my call was done. She said, nope, they would not start the work unless I paid a deposit. I said...YOU'RE FIRED! The office manager was unprofessional and made the company come off like they were having severe financial problems. She was extremely rude and caused us to have to line up an entirely new vendor which the new company is greatly appreciative. Thanks a lot hanley...hope your office manager has not pissed off anyone else that the owners don't know about. read more

Outstanding roofing company. They weren't the cheapest or the most expensive company to give us a bid but we were extremely pleased with the work they did, Everyone was so courteous, helpful and professional from the get go: Brian Triggs the estimator, Marti Stevenson the production manager who always kept me in the loop, Alex Zuniga who was the foreman of a 6-7 man crew, and Chris who came and did the final inspection. The roofers came out first thing on a Monday morning and stayed until 5:00 that night. They came back early on Tuesday morning and finished the job that day. They did a thorough job protecting our property and cleaned up nicely after themselves. They even brought their own porta potty. They also put a new roof on our decrepit mailbox stand without charging us using their leftover shingles and other roofing materials. We love our new roof and feel certain we got the best roof at a fair price. They deserve all the 5* accolades they receive. Highly recommended for your roofing needs. read more

12/21/2018 My roof had a venta ridge that started to wick water and began to leak in my attic. I called Hanley as they installed my 50 year roof twenty years ago. The gal on the phone set me up with the scheduler. Within a day he called and was able to come out the same day! He checked the attic and took pictures, got on the roof and checked out the venta ridge. We also check two other ridges and they appeared fine. The agent was super friendly and explained what was happening and the fix. He emailed me a bid to replace the venta ridge within 24 hours. As soon as we had a break in the rain he sent out a crew to replace the vena ridge. The guys on the crew were also fantastic! They showed my the type of new venta ridge and explained how much better it is over the old one. They also replaced a vent pipe that was leaking at a nominal charge. They blew off the roof where they had been working and before they put their blower away, they even blew off the maple seeds that where on the drive way. The plywood that got wet from the leak is drying out and the fix is great! Thanks guys! Rodger W read more

We replaced our roof about 16 yrs ago with a 25 yr roof. We have cathedral ceilings, and the installers left the insulation too close to the decking with the result that a portion of the roof rotted and failed by the 4 yr mark. We called them and they responded quickly, but then they sent us a bill! We politely said "no way!" whereupon the billing magically disappeared. Now the whole roof seems to be failing, about 10 yrs early, and I have to figure out how to budget to replace it. Even if I were willing to use Hanley again, they are outrageously slow. You will end up waiting 6 to 8 months for the work to begin, and by that time your estimate will be grossly out of date and you will be on the hook for thousands of dollars more than you anticipated. read more

Well, I can't yet comment on the quality of our new roof, since it has been 10 months since we paid our deposit and we are still waiting for the installation. When we originally signed up with Hanley in November 2015, we were told that they would begin construction in April/May 2016. It is now September, we have already seen extra water damage to our ceiling, and they anticipate at least 6 more weeks before they will start work. Had we known that their time estimate was so far off (5 months and counting), we would have chosen another company. Communication has only occurred due to my calling them; never have I received any calls or emails from Hanley. So far, extremely disappointed with this company. If we ever get the roof that we have already half-paid for, I will update this review. read more

My parents had the roof re-done on their house a couple of weeks ago by these guys. THEY DID A GREAT JOB. They were professional and all 6 guys worked together really well! It took 3 days, which was what we expected. It has since rained and there are no leaks! I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a new roof. The ONLY reason I did not give them 5 stars, was because they started work on my parents place a couple of weeks after they said they would, but they did get it done before the rain came, so that is what mattered most to my family! read more

Called and asked if they could repair a leak. Was told no, unless we installed the roof. I told the phone person That Oliver built my garage and did a reroof for me a number of years ago, but He was so busy, so 3 years ago, I went with another roofer. A couple of years ago they (Hanley) did replace my Skylight, and they did an excellent job. Then was told I would need to talk to Olver, but He was on vacation. I said what difference does it make who installed the roof, I called you because I needed a repair, that is part of your business. Then she said Oh we have a backlog of about 4 months on repairs. You can guess what rating I give them. Oh by the way I did get a good roof install from them a number of years ago. But it seems over time, the business attitudes changed. read more

From start to finish Hanley Construction has been amazing! They told me from the beginning the estimated timeline and they were spot on. I received monthly emails letting me know where I was on their list. When they showed up to do the roofing, the lead roofer let me know what to expect and even offered a solution to an issue I had with a beam in my carport that was rotting out. Hanley's price was, in my opinion, extremely reasonable. They followed up a week after to make sure I was happy with the results and every time I spoke to anyone at the office they were professional and friendly and seemed to hustle to provide me with an answer. I cannot recommend this company enough and I will sign their praises to anyone who will listen! read more

Employees unprofessional. Driving a Hanley Construction Van in my neighborhood on Sunday evening. I was out with my wife and two children walking the dog while they rode their bikes. Upon seeing the van approaching we moved to the shoulder only for the driver to continue speeding up over 25 mph in a residential neighborhood with a posted limit of 15 mph. When raising an arm signaling to slow down I was greeted with a blaring horn and hand gesture as he continued to roll through the neighborhood. After this experience I am sure that I will not consider calling this company for any work at anytime. read more

While the company's work is excellent, many of their business practices leave much to be desired. When an estimator first comes out to give you a bid, they will not at all be transparent about the wait times involved before your roofing project will begin. Only once you have signed your contract and given the NON-REFUNDABLE 15% deposit will you then find out that you have a wait of 6-8 months before your project will begin. If you are a residential homeowner, you need to understand that contactors and other projects with a higher contract price will take precedence over your project. If you happen to have a flat roof that needs to be installed, rest assured that you will be put on the back burner so that the higher paying commercial projects can be done first. You will be given every excuse imaginable, and at times outright lied to, as to why your project must be postponed, and chances are it will happen numerous times. So if you are willing to have poor communication, be given half-hearted excuses and generally be given the run-around, then I highly recommend Hanley Construction. read more

I gave them all the information they needed, detailed, and had pictures I could show them but could not make it through with the rude receptionist. Hanley came recommended by a number of our friends, so we contracted with them to replace the roof on our large two story house. Downside: they didn't arrive until a year after we signed the contract because they're so backed up. But my understanding is that this is fairly normal for roofers in Kitsap County. Plus we knew we'd have a long wait right up front. Upside: they sent us a monthly update of our progression in the wait list. And after working for three days in heavy rain and wind, the crew did an incredibly fine job. Roof looks amazing! Clean up could have been better because we're still finding nails, plastic roofing shingle backing, pieces of shingle etc. I'm sure the wind didn't help that, but their magnetic search for nails could have been more thorough. Bottom line: I'd recommend them and may have them back to do our carport roof. read more

We are remodeling, from top to bottom a 1960's house in the North end of Tacoma. We had the roof completely torn off, raised and rebuilt. It took two months. In the winter. We called Hanley roofing (one of 3 bids we got) and pleaded our case that the house would be open to rain and weather, back in August. They were the best bid, and they came EXACTLY when they said they would, a week after the roof rebuild was done! (it was Christmas break at that point!) They have very good planning and communication skills... We were very pleased with the detail in which they installed the roof, and they kept to the time schedule ( they said four days and it took four days!!) They left the grounds inside and out neat and clean, no small items, no cigarettes, no litter, and left us the "extra" roofing so we could use it.....it's a big deal that they left it clean, as the roof BUILDERS didn't!! Hanleys workers are fast, polite, neat, and professional! I would recommend them highly! I know it is hard to get someone to come out right away, with all the remodeling going on in the area, but they put us in the que way back, when we knew we needed them..they put us on their schedule right when we needed them!!! ..I do suggest that if you know ahead of time you will be needing repairs, etc, give a long lead time, as construction in Tacoma is off the hook! It is esp. important to get into their system so they can plan ahead to get to your project, but, then, that is ALL contractors now. But they are by far right at the top of quality work!! We made our down payment in August and were told to expect our job to commence in about October or November. It finally began in April after I had to contact the company several times about missing deadlines. During this wait time we suffered extra water damage. Once the job was finally complete I asked for a 20% discount and was given 1%. What a slap in the face! We didn't push the issue because my husband just wanted to be done with this company. Communication with the office was non-existent. If you are overbooked don't take any more jobs-especially when you don't communicate with your clientele or compensate them for their troubles! read more

I have been waiting over a year...Signed paperwork...paid deposit and no roof....no phone calls that aren't generated by me until they called today to ask for more of a deposit.....The person to blame is always someone different and they are always on vacation....The person who came to our home was great....the office staff doesn't have their s**t together whatsoever! read more

This is a reputable company that does superior work. I requested that my general contractor hire Hanley and not his own roofing contractor after receiving three bids. Each shingle was hand-nailed at no additional cost and not one shingle nail has popped out after 3 1/2 years. Everyone who sees our roof is amazed at the quality.
