Perfect!!! The experience was spectacular. The food is rustic traditional fare, with a beautiful elegance. Not stuffy or pretentious like some Michelin * places. The wine list is legendary with pricing dictated from the fact they bought the '85 Bordeaux when it came out in the market! The chef and his staff visited the table regularly chatted asked questions and actually cared about his clientele. The didn't g experience was designed for, and by the old school restaurant goer! With only 24 hours in Strasbourg, I was forced to make carefully researched decisions about where to eat (because I have food priorities when I travel). I am so glad we ended up in this tiny restaurant in Le Petit France for lunch! Since we didn't have breakfast, we opted to go big on lunch and this place fit that bill. The place is quaint and the proprietor was gracious and helpful with us Americans. The portions were generous and decadent. Don't come here looking for health food. Come here looking for hearty, authentic Alsatian dishes. You won't regret it. Onion soup - France meets Germany in this bowl. The onions in the soup was so tender and rather than being topped with a crouton and cheese, it was served on the side and we dipped it in the broth. So good. Foie gras - If you have any qualms about this delicacy, now is the time to get over them because it was the best foie I've ever had. The area is known for it, so there was no way I wasn't going to have some. Just do it. Don't not do it. Ham hock - No knife required. I was given a nice steak knife for it, touched the thing, and it fell apart. I put the knife down and just had at it with my fork. It was so ridiculously tender and rich. Came with potatoes (take some of the skin/fat from that meat and combine it with the potatoes as you dredge up the wine reduction with them) and a side salad (health food!). Order this. Just don't tell your cardiologist. Spaetzle gratin - And finally a dish of fat and carbs to round out or light lunch. It's like if Germany wanted mac n cheese, except way better. Excellent quaint traditional restaurant. The menu has traditional cuisine and daily specials. The food exceeded my expectations. The service was spectacular. Karine, the proprietor, is just awesome. Only 9 tables, and reservations are recommended. I confused timing on our reservations and she was more than accommodating. We were here in March of 2018. It is a small, friendly, personal, restaurant staffed by a woman who I believed to be the owner, and from what I could see, one chef who may have been her husband. We loved everything, from the friendly personal service to the food. We had Escargots au Roquefort, Spaetzel, Kidneys, salad and dessert. I had never had kidneys before and was expecting a plate with two small kidneys and a nice little presentation on the plate; however, I received a bowl full of just kidneys. I was somewhat taken aback, and immediately felt bad because I was afraid I would not like them and would leave a full bowl of kidneys uneaten. I would be embarrassed and feel like I was insulting the nice owner and the chef. Fortunately they were delicious and I ate every one of them. We've had many meals in some very good restaurants and this remains one of my favorites. read more

So happy I found this place! It's right around the corner from a Main Street. You walk in and it's a tiny room, almost feels like someone's personal home. The lady sat us and was very nice. She was the only waitress and took care of the whole room (with great service). We ordered escargot and it was great! I also had the cordon bleu and it was amazing bite after bite. She was the sweetest lady and obviously the cooks in the back knew what they were doing. I would definitely recommend! read more

The weather was sultry but we really enjoyed our evening here. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was excellent. We sampled the Spaetzel, Guinea Fowl and a few other dishes. Talk about a tiny, one-woman run restaurant, and does she make it work! Very cozy and intimate place, candlelit and romantic, seats perhaps 25-30 people max. The owner, I am assuming, was so lovely and friendly, she was also adept at juggling the tables and delivering food and always being attentive. Food was good, I had the muenster spaetzle which was similar to a mac and cheese using the german noodles and French muenster cheese, which is stinky fyi for fellow americans. It was very hearty and tasty. My boyfriend had the Sauerkraut with meat Kassler, frankfurter, smoked Alsace sausage, salt pork, smoked bacon. A very large and hearty meal he really enjoyed. I highly recommend this place for an authentic Alsatian meal in a cozy, friendly setting. The owner is extra nice....serving meals, making conversation, and just making everyone feel happy to be there. She spoke better English than our French....but we tried and the communication went smoothly. As others have said, this is a small restaurant so I would encourage making a reservation. We were there at end of February on a Tuesday night and all but one table was taken. Also note that it is tucked in around the corner of a small street, so pay close attention to directions. I had a ham hock that had been slowly cooked in a red wine sauce. Wife had something similar to a scalloped potato casserole with bits of smoked ham cooked in. And daughter had choucroute (sauerkraut) with sausages. All were excellent. This was my favorite restaurant of the entire week in lovely Strasbourg! read more

If you like a warm welcome, wonderfully fresh food beautifully prepared, in an authentic space, this is the place. The room is tiny, yet completely delightful on a dreary rainy day. We came for lunch and ordered the special of the day. Everything exceeded expectations. Very reasonable prices for such good quality. Nice couple who have this are genuinely enjoying what they do, and they obviously want you to enjoy as well. Be aware that the street is easy to miss. If you're on the Grand Rue, there is a grocery just beside the turn onto the street Aguille so it gets lost among the produce. Very easy to miss so pay attention. Some English spoken. Incredible! Make reservations. It feels like you're in someone's home. The food is authentic. I ordered the Choucroute, and it was Amazing! It came with plenty of meat and potatoes. My husband had the cordon bleu veal with a salad and potatoes, also fantastic. We ordered the pinot noir house wine (2, to be exact), it was so good we had to order another. Please go! Please enjoy yourself. An appetizer is not necessary as the dinner is more than enough for anyone. We also had dessert, but after all the delicious food we ordered only one and shared. This is an outstanding local restaurant in Petite France. One woman (presumably the owner) served the entire restaurant. She was very nice. While it is true that the menu doesn't have many vegetable dishes, who cares? Order the foie gras to start and follow it up with a sausage/bacon/sauerkraut plate. A wonderful dining experience! This is like dining at someone's home with amazing food and an amazing host! The lady who runs the place is a true gem. Her enthusiasm for the cuisine is wonderful and the food lives up to her energy! This is true Alsatian cuisine. The veal cordon blu was so great, the steak dish my wife had was equally fantastic. Everything from the lettuce to the horseradish to the meat is fresh, natural and truly homemade. As a tourist it is easy to get sucked into high priced terrible restaurants when abroad and there are many of these restaurants in Strasbourg. Avoid that problem by going here. Truly a great experience! Is that not what it is all about? I ordered one of the specials of the day, and it was a chilled chicken dish, that was very yummy. It reminded you a bit of what is in the pan after you roast a chicken and was awesome. The hostess, cant remember her name was what made the meal special.
