Wow! What a great find! I was craving some good Schnitzel, so I looked on Yelp, and this place came up. I read about it and saw it had a Michelin rating, and the reviews were great! Plus, it was out of the city center, more of a neighborhood place. As fate would have it, I was on a walk and saw that this place was minutes away. It was early, around 5 PM, and they were just opening for dinner. I strolled the streets until I arrived, and walked in through the back, and straight into their beautiful courtyard. The courtyard was beautiful, several tables all set and ready for the dinner crowd. I walked toward the restaurant and saw the daily special board, but there were no staff, at least outside. I checked out the board and saw they had Pfefferlingcremesuppe, which is one of my favorite foods! A minute later, a woman walked out and greeted me. I told her I knew it was a Friday, but would there be a table for 2 available? She smiled and said I could come now or at 8:30- I chose 8:30 as 5 pm was a little too early to eat. I left and came back at 8:30, the place was buzzing, and the courtyard was packed! My dining partner couldn't make it, so it was just me. The same woman was there to greet me, she smiled when she saw me and brought me to a table in the middle of the courtyard. I was seated and given a menu. I ordered a cold beer and perused the menu. While there were many great things on the menu, I already knew what I wanted, so when she returned, I ordered the soup and the Schnitzel. The soup was delicious and a large serving, and when I finished, my Schnitzel arrived, with fried potatoes and bacon, and a nice salad. Even though I was by myself, I immensely enjoyed the atmosphere; this place is all local, all having a great time, and friends greeting each other. Service was on point, attentive without being overbearing, and friendly! I had another beer and enjoyed the ambiance, and then paid my bill and walked back to my hotel. Such a great dinner and experience! I will definitely be back here on my next visit to Baden Baden! read more

Based on other Yelp reviews, we made a reservation and had dinner here. The glowing reviews did not do this place justice, and neither will this review! This restaurant is by far the absolute best dining experience we have ever had! Gordon Ramsay needs to visit! We started with the Gorgonzola and bacon tart, which was beautifully thin crusted, crunchy, soft, and delicious! I had the hen for my entree and it was juicy with crispy skin! My husband had the dorado (mahi mahi). The fish had crispy edible skin and the fish was perfectly seasoned! It was served over the most delicious and perfectly cooked risotto I ever tasted! This place is an absolute (hidden) gem!!! read more

This restaurant is one of the top five absolute favorite places we've ever eaten on our travels in the 11 different countries we have traveled to! One of the owners was our waitress that evening and we had an amazing experience chatting with her. The food is something that we talk about almost a year after visiting and the ambiance of the venue was super hygge and full of character representing the Black Forest and Germany. We would go back in a heartbeat if ever in Baden Baden again. Thank you Rock Steves for helping us find this cozy venue that is hidden at the back of an cobblestone street hidden corner. We had a great meal here for our anniversary. Had the trout special. Came with asparagus risotto. Trout was good for trout. Simply cooked, two filets. I had the special Pasta with pork cheeks and asparagus. Much more flavorful than the trout. We went without reservations and there were two tables taken when we arrived and they tried to sit us down in the lower level basement area, where no one was at the time. ??? We asked to be seated in the main level since it had windows and more ambiance. They did, but I wonder why they tried to put us downstairs. We had wines suggested by the wait staff, since we wanted a recommendation as we do not usually drink white wine. But, others were drinking flights and it was not offered to us at all. Would have liked to have had a chance at that. All in all a good experience. With the caveats noted above, it could have been excellent. read more

This place is a hidden gem! And when I say hidden, it's actually concealed down an ally away from all of the tourists that come to Baden-Baden - guess I shouldn't talk though considering I was a tourist ;) anyway if I could give 6 stars - I would. The food was wonderful we got some of the flatbread and the beef tar-tar as well as several of the local beers. We where also lucky enough that the weather was still nice enough for us to be able to eat in the great court-yard they have here. read more

We had a delicious meal sitting at the bar. The service was very friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The escargot was delicious and full of garlicky, butter goodness. The Black Forest ham salad was also amazing and paired well with the goat cheese and honey. The trout was flavourful and the black pudding potato dish was yummy. The one disappointment was the bread which was white and not very good. They even take credit cards - an extra bonus! read more

Great restaurant in a secluded courtyard. There is an inside area but no one sat at it, the wrestler outside was perfect. Wait staff speaks English and they take Visa. Not sure about Amex. Mix of locals, European tourists and American tourists. The "pizza" dish with Black Forest ham and pears is excellent, good for two people as an appetizer. They have a page of the menu dedicated to these types of "pizzas". The veal schnitzel is also excellent, perfectly fried and comes with delicious fries and a fresh side salad. These two dishes seemed to be the most popular items ordered. Had a great Pinot blanc from nearby in Baden. Black Forest cake for dessert was served in a glass and was very fruity. Only negative (depending on your perspective), the service is pretty slow. There were only two waitresses, probably could have used one more. read more

Ok. So bread and salad were good (average).... but the I had the "smoked pork cheeks braised in red wine and mustard sauce with potato-pumpkin purée." Holy hell that was good! Perfect balance of salty, sweet, sour, savory with starch! Boom! Perfect flavor balance. I recommend! read more

Take the time to find this place - we only had apps and desserts, but if they put as much care into their main courses then you'll be missing out if you don't eat here. Daughter was visiting from the States, and wanted to try Snails while we were in France but we didn't quite get there.... so we ordered them here. Fantastic. I would never have tried them on any other occasion, but having them here was worth it. The Black Forest Cake and the dessert special were also wonderful. Find this place, eat here - it's awesome. Service was great, and the outdoor patio was nice and secluded. read more
