Slowest restaurant I have ever been to. Took half an hour to get someone to take our order then half an hour for appetizers to show up then over an hour after that for our mains to come. Spent over three hours just having lunch. The place was close to empty only about 4 tables. Beautiful area. Loved the cathedral and it was easy to get seated. Price is reasonable with good portions. Food when it did show up was good quality. I recommend the pork knuckle or the snail pasta. read more

Explained to the waiter I have a severe mushroom allergy when ordering. The waiter said there would be no mushrooms and he would tell the chef. I ordered an onion soup and I found a mushroom in the soup, luckily before eating it. I broke out in a rash on my neck/mouth, had a fuzzy feeling in my mouth and had to take Benadryl on the spot. The waiter said that mushrooms are not in onion soup and was astonished when I showed him the mushroom. Then my entree came, something I had carefully selected and made sure there were no mushrooms in the description, and the entree was covered in mushrooms!! We were appalled and got up to walk away without touching our entrees and told them to take everything back. Normally, restaurants I have experienced at home and when traveling, they would comp meals and apologize. We offered to pay for the food we touched/ate, but they wanted us to pay for everything or they would call the police. My daughters were crying and scared that their mom was having an allergic reaction and the possibility of police involved. The staff were very rude, unforgiving and very dishonest with what they were attempting to serve to customers. Worst experience of our trip and have advised others traveling to Strasbourg to beware. read more

Great restaurant this is our second time here. I love the Strasbourg salad so I always start with that. My entree was salmon and noodles. It came with a sauce and it was very good it needed just a little salt. We had creme burlee but it was the seasonal version and had cinnamon at the button of the dish. I didn't care for it I prefer the regular creme burlee. The atmosphere is so comforting and festive. Staff is friendly but they don't suggest any dishes and just don't seem very informative. Maybe it's a language barrier. Overall it was a great experience. read more

We made a reservation through our hotel and arrived on time and were seated promptly. HOWEVER we were then ignored for 40 minutes (no water, no drinks, no wine). And NO MENU for 40 minutes. Not sure if they are just terrible servers or dislike Americans but many seated after us appeared to have better service. I would avoid this place as there are ample other places nearby that seemed to do a better job with service and satisfaction. The food doesn't make up for the behavior of the staff. If I could give less than 1 star I would but definitely won't be back. In fact it really just progressively got worse. Full meal finally arrived before the wine but not all at once. This could be the worst meal experience I had in France. Maybe it was the waiter. Maybe the management. Either way it is a hard pass in my mind and a definite avoid at all costs. I forgot to mention that our silverware was dirty when we were seated and it was a big production to get it replaced. The food overall did not make up for the service. My steak was warm. The spaetzle came late and one meal was served well before the other. I suspect even with perfect service this would be 2 stars on a good day. Easily the worst meal in France. read more

I was pickpocketed in this restaurant upstairs in a more private area. It took a long time to receive food. We noticed locals were being served quickly. It made us all start to think the theft was an inside job. Just hang on to your possessions. Food was meh! read more

We had a group of 9 looking for a restaurant for lunch. We located Au Dauphin on the Michelin Guide. It turned out to be a good reference. Although the restaurant is located on the Cathedral Square, it did not feel too touristy. There are seating areas both outdoors and indoors. As the weather was warm we selected a large outdoor table. They offer an extensive menu. Drinks came quickly. We ordered pork dishes to share as an appetizer, and a wide variety of main courses. The staff must have misunderstood our French/English. All our dishes, both appetizers and main courses, were delivered at the same time. The overall slow service was a distraction but the food preparation was good. We had dinner here on Christmas Eve. The gates were locked until 8:00pm sharp when they let the line pile in. Our fixed menu was very good. Portions were appropriate. The staff was friendly but slow and usually not around when you needed something. I would eat here again but would try some of the other local restaurants first. read more

Came here recently on recommendation of a local. There was a bit of a chill in the air but the outside tables were perfectly spaced and the vibe was friendly and helpful. Shared the absolutely wonderful Flambé Gratinee which again was a rec from a local. It could easily have been my meal. Main courses were baked trout with fresh veggies ( cooked to perfection); and¡ chicken smothered in a yummy cheese withe soaetzle-- all which felt decadent but melt in the mouth delicious. Servers were very sweet, patient and helpful, but as the restaurant filled up harder to find. Dessert was our usual in France--- some sort of an ice cream concoction. We, of course, enjoyed our French favorite... kir and some local white wine which didNOT disappoint. All in all...a very good dining experience and hearing the cathedral chimes added to the great ambiance. read more

Well priced French food! We had the Foe Gras, veal and pork. The pork was average tasting. However the veal with potatoes and salad was actually very tasty. The restaurant is a little touristy, the wait staff isn't very helpful, and the decor is nothing short of average. If you're in a pinch for dinner plans, as many places fill up during the holiday times, it's not the worst choice. However would recommend making reservations ahead of time! read more

Located in a hotel. If you are not looking for it, would be easy to miss. Was obviously popular with the locals. We went at lunchtime during the "Christmas Markets" and all three of us had slow-roasted pig knuckle. Some got it with Kraut and some with egg noodles. All was excellent. Had dinner here the other night. We had no reservations which seemed to annoy them but they found us a table in the outside seating area. We had a foi gras appetizer with toast which was nice and I had a big fancy salad with all sort of veggies in it. The French make such good salads. For dessert we split a schwartzwalder kirch torte. It started raining hard so we had to wrap things up quickly but overall, this place was very good. And its located right near the big church in a touristy type area. I'd go again. read more

This is such a charming courtyard right underneath the cathedral.... Lots of local specialties served and plated in iron skillets, gives that sense of local authenticity! Onion casserole was a great start and the flatbread and mushrooms was so flavorful and filling. Great convenient option in a touristy area. read more

Fell in love with Tarte Flambée in Strasbourg. What an incredible local dish. Can beat cheesy cream bacon-y food to be fair!! Got a very decent side salad to go with it and absolutely stuffed our faces. Much needed for all the touristing and walking we were doing around the city. Really fab courtyard too.
