I'm totally confused on why they are not Michelin rated . For all the silly reviews with low star ratings , come on , there is a McDonald's down the street and that's where you belong. This restaurant is now going to be haunting me in my dreams it was that good . First off, the onion tart is crack. The perfect crust with fluffy eggs and onions and bacon. I would say generally I'm not the biggest fan of quiches, but the onion tart is a must. Then we had the white asparagus special with a soft boiled egg and lentils with the most flavorful dressing ever. I was with my two daughters and wife and we split the onion tart and asparagus special as an appetizer, and literally a fight almost broke out among us. Then we split the steak, pork filet and potato pancakes. Just absolutely delicious. My older daughter does not like salad and she actually couldn't believe she liked the side salad that came with her steak. Not the lame iceberg bagged salad mix you get it some restaurants. This was frise, endive and radicchio in a vinaigrette that was spot on. Best french fries ever as a side on the pork fillet. Incredible home fries as the side on the steak. I wish I would've taken photos to post, but the dishes were getting destroyed as soon as they came out. We had the rhubarb pie as a dessert and Panna cotta. We are coming back tomorrow for lunch and getting the asparagus and tart again. It was that good. read more

This cozy restaurant serves excellent Alsatian food in an authentic, off the beaten track but close in location. My husband had choucroute garnie and I had chicken with Munster sauce, a very interesting dish. The house wine and cremant were wonderful. We were visiting Strasbourg for the Christmas markets, which were absolutely lovely! While visiting this German influenced region, we wanted to try a regional meal, so we found this restaurant just by browsing the neighborhood and saw a line, so we decided to get a table! The restaurant is very cozy and it was fairly busy yet we found a table after a short wait! We started off with a couple of appetizers: sunflower/pumpkin soup and eggs/potato quiche! For the main entrees, we ordered regional dishes such as sausage/pork with sauerkraut along with a very delicious venison with mashed potates! The food at this restaurant is extremely delicious and their cooking is much more German influenced rather than typical french food! Overall this was a great lunch experience and we also got to enjoy the Alsac cuisine which was an added bonus! read more

Indoor dining, very crowded and loud. Understaffed. Our orders were taken after a moderate wait, and the waitress wasn't sure if we'd be allowed to order just an appetizer each. We were, we did, and my quiche was very good (and quite large!) and my wife's snails were excellent. We were able to snatch a reservation here after recommendations. Food is truly amazing. We started off with the escargots (yummy) the onion tart (if you never tried it, a must) and the herring filet (awesome without being to fishy). Great with the small cubes potatoes. For main course we ordered the pork knuckle (Jambonneau Grille) salmon (Pave de saumon) and two of the Choucroute garnie (local Alsace dish). All very good with the pork knuckle the absolute top. Now on to desert (we saw already some deserts coming by so made sure we kept some space (ie don't eat all the sauerkraut (it truly is a lot)). Here we ordered the ice merengue and chocolate cream. The merengue is an absolute winner. And chocolate cream?? People that don't like chocolate can not be trusted... also great thus. All in all great evening of food. read more

This restaurant is just outstanding at serving the well known local German/French cuisine. We tried a number of different entrees and loved all of them. The place gets very crowded and reservations are recommended. After you have been there a couple of hours you might get the hint that they want you to leave so they can turn the table. Do not be offended, this is a very popular destination so plan to leave after about two hours. The wine list is spectacular and the owner is not shy about telling you what you should pair with your entrée. Listen to him he knows what he is talking about. Attention Americans: Go with your gut food-wise; and then go with the server's wine suggestion(s). The food is very good here. We ate at all the "authentic" Alsatian restaurants and this one was the one that won our hearts; and the only one we returned to. This place also has the best valued wine list, and the service that is willing to help you find the right bottle(s) for your meal. The first time we had a bit of the religious experience with the onion tart. And the boudin noir was very good, too. The second time we came, I got the choucroute because I felt obligated (very good and maybe not the best choucroute I had in town but certainly up there); and my beautiful lover devoured the onion tart again. All of our appetizers were very good. And all priced very fairly so we felt obligated to order a few each time. With dessert (get dessert), I had a spirit called biersky. Get that, too. It's a blend of scotch and beer spirit. It does have obvious notes of beer, which follows on the palate, but still carries the faint note of peat, and is unforgettably pleasant. On the note of alcohol, ask the staff for the little wine shop very close that sells all the really good Alsatian wine. Actually, hold that thought: every moment you get with your server will be a fleeting one-- and not many at that-- so I'll save you the time. Heaven's Wine Shop is called Au Fil du Vin Libre. It's about two blocks from the restaurant. One quick thrown in note of something that I found important: the restaurant is very clean. Little nooks with sharp edges in corners are dust and cobweb free in totality. The kitchen, from some tables, is in plain view. The kitchen is spotless. Anyway... If you're curious where to go in Strasbourg when on a quick trip, Au Pont Corbeau is the family-owned, down-home spot. There are clear-cut, touristy spots in Little France (Maison des Tanneurs has the best choucroute; good for lunch). But for being in Strasbourg for a week, and having several full meals per day-- we pick Au Pont Corbeau. I could have eaten there every night for dinner and wouldn't feel like I missed out on anything except for the general hatred of Americans in this cute, romantically Germanic city. PS- It doesn't seem like they use table numbers here. So if something comes to your table looking like an amuse bouche, eat it before they realize it's gone to the wrong table. PSS- If you arrive without a reservation when they open, they are willing to shift around tables so they can seat you. However, they will tell you when they will need you to get up. read more

I had an excellent experience at this restaurant. Before traveling to France, I researched where I was going and found this place on Yelp. It sounded like a great little place to have lunch; it was close to the historic area we were visiting, it got a good rating and it served Alsatian food, which is just what I was looking for. The restaurant looked very old and historic on the outside. When we walked in, we found the interior to be very cozy and comfortable. The wait staff worked with us to translate the menu (we only speak a little French), and we were able to find something we liked. For 34 Euros we got a 2 (3?) course lunch for two and a drink. I thought the value was quite good. We got a small salad, an appetizer and a main course. My appetizer (served on the same plate as my salad) was salmon on a piece of bread. For my main dish, I had choucroute garnie, which is sauerkraut, potatoes, a sausage and 2 slabs of bacon. To me, this is the single dish that best represents Alsatian cuisine, and something I can't get back home, so I was delighted to have this in miniature size for lunch at this restaurant. All in all, the food was great and I was very happy with my lunch here. It could not have gone better, and I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about going here. read more

Magnificent food and service! This is a local treasure that will not disappoint. They serve authentic regional cuisine that is made from scratch and tastes like it. The potato pancakes are amazing and the pan seared pork is worth going twice for. Desert? Oui merci! The chocolate moose and whip cream is light as just right. Christophe will be your host for the night and he's usually in a good spirit despite the frenzy going on in this restaurant. Make sure you book a table as it really gets packed quickly - even with a reservation expect some wait but don't take it personally. It's solid local Alsatian food they serve here. Go for the boar-head pate, escargots or matjes to start with. Then go for some beer-roasted pork with sauerkraut or game stew if in season. The menu is fairly short but everything is very well executed. Now for the big bonus: the wine list! One of the best selections for this type of restaurants in the Strasbourg area. Not only will you find an excellent selection of local Alsace wines but you will also find some amazing red wines from Languedoc and Rhone valley at a steal. Au Pont Corbeau is small with walls and ceiling of stained wood panels imprinted with simple Alsatian designs, the diners tucked in two by two around the perimeter and along a central table line. On the afternoon we visited the lunch special included two courses, each with several Alsatian options. The anchovies on toast were excellent as was the veal dish. I wish I had had room for desert! Although some sites list this place as a French restaurant, that is only true in that it is in France. This is a restaurant that serves traditional, regional Alsace cuisine which is like a fusion of Franco-Germanic tastes. It was a recommended to us by a local and we loved it. My husband and i arrived early and snagged one of the few unreserved tables. I think that reservations are typically a good idea here but of you're like us and prefer an early bird you'll likely be ok without. The standard menu is written in french, german, and english. The specials are on a separate menu and are handwritten in french. They're worth hearing about so don't hesitate to ask your kind (and multilingual) server for help if you don't read french well. Husband had the fillet mignon and i had the blood sausage (one of the specials). So good! Sausage was perfection served with crispy fried potatoes (hashbown-esqe) and a green salad. For dessert, we had a caramel custard. If l lived nearby, this would be my go to birthday meal. Rich and savory food in an atmosphere that is warm and inviting. read more
