Traditional Alsatian cuisine with a modern twist is what you'll find at Aux P'tits Crocs, sitting near the Strasbourg Cathedral. The concentration on fresh flavors at a great value completely won me over, and this stood out from the crowd of restaurants catering to tourists in the area.
On my visit, I ordered the plat du jour, which was a Strasbourg salad topped with tomatoes, cervellata sausage, gruyere, hard-boiled egg, pickles, and potatoes. I also ordered the mustard vinaigrette drizzled on top, and every bite of this salad was delicious--crunchy, savory, sour, and piquant all at the same time! What a refreshing change from all the heavy meat and potato dishes of the area. I also had a dish of "fleischkiechele," which were delicious grilled meatballs, served in a homemade pinot noir red wine sauce and with warm sauerkraut cooked with bacon bits! Every part of this meal was so balanced in flavor and delicious--what a great find! read more
