Spätzle with cheese sauce and salad.

This is a great comfort food spot with huge portions. It was my first time having Alsatian cuisine and I had Spätzle with ham and cream sauce. It was very delicious but there was so much, I could barely eat it all.

Apple tarte flambee with Cointreau, I honestly like a good French apple pie better

Good restaurant offering local specialties. They are very busy so I recommend making a reservation. The food is tasty, we didn't have a tarte flambée (only for dessert, so it's not the same) but a lot of people were ordering one and they looked really good. We were happy with our dinner and our waiter was extremely friendly. They also have a very nice patio. A great option for dinner when in Strasbourg.

Rightfully named the best place to get flammkuchen in Strasbourg. Service is wonderful and extremely fast, prices are fair and the food is absolutely delicious! I suggest trying a variety of their dishes as they are all excellent as are their wines and beer. Inside and outside seating, it does get very crowded here, but they move quickly, and are very efficient. Highly recommend it!

Strong 4 stars for lunch at a restaurant slightly away from the main tourist streets of Strasbourg. There were multiple pages toward the back of the menu with English descriptions of the items ( a big plus). Food, wine, and service were outstanding. Not much English spoken but no problems ordering. Lots of tax on the meal. Tip did not seem to be included so we left one. Restaurant does not have great " curb appeal" but was decent and clean inside. Seemed like many locals were there so I also think that's a good endorsement. Notorious MD approved.

I found myself with a weekend to kill. Paris being inundated with returnees from Les Vacances, it was just the right time to flee. I headed solo to Strasbourg about 2.5. hrs east on the TGV InOui. It was about dinner time when I arrived, and I randomly picked out this place slightly off rue du Fossé des Tanneurs. The outside of the place looks rustic, but worry not, it's a clean and professional establishement. The weather was great, and I chose an outside table. Being about two miles from the German border I was expecting some German to be spoken here. Nope... everything in French. Alas, I was still in France, albeit the Alsatian region. I was famished and started with an Alsatian tart and a chilled Sylvaner wine ( Alsatian wine). The tart is really just a flatbread with toppings. Cream or cheese are used without any red sauces. It's nice that the menu has half-orders, which is what I selected. Though, the tarts are very thin, so a hungry adult can easily polish off an entire tart. The food arrived pipping hot and was very delicious in a delicate way. There were no overpowering flavors as in the American pizzas. It was just light, delicate and delicious! I lingered a bit and eventually ordered spatze with munster cheese. Though there are meat choices. It was essentially the spatze accompanied by the cheese sauce and a salad. The portions were huge, and I didn't even get through 50% of the main dish. The dish is large enough to be shared. Strasbourg is a tourist town. Despite being emptied of Parisians, the restaurant was still busy with almost every table taken by dinner time. While the menu was totally in Alsatian French, the staff are sufficiently competent in English to help interpret the menu. The place has a great vibe, and being off a main street, it was bustling, but pleasantly quiet. Stop by if you have chance. Prices are reasonable. Service is very quick and attentive. The food is delicious and very regional. Dog friendly btw. Mixed crowd of tourists and locals. Casual dress: shorts, t-shirts, no problem. Credit cards accepted.

After a long day of travel and a late arrival into town, we found La Fignette open until 10:30. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and provided great service. They have English and German menus which was such a great relief to us after traveling for several days with no English menu options. There was a nice selection of beer and wine and dinner options that could suit a variety of tastes. I had the Waedele and my wife had the meatballs. Both were excellent and well portioned. We had no room left for dessert. Overall great food, service, and prices.

This restaurant is now going to be haunting me in my dreams it was that good . First off, the onion tart is crack. The perfect crust with fluffy eggs and onions and bacon. I would say generally I'm not the biggest fan of quiches, but the onion tart is a must. Then we had the white asparagus special with a soft boiled egg and lentils with the most flavorful dressing ever. I was with my two daughters and wife and we split the onion tart and asparagus special as an appetizer, and literally a fight almost broke out among us. Then we split the steak, pork filet and potato pancakes. Just absolutely delicious. My older daughter does not like salad and she actually couldn't believe she liked the side salad that came with her steak. Not the lame iceberg bagged salad mix you get it some restaurants. This was frise, endive and radicchio in a vinaigrette that was spot on. Best french fries ever as a side on the pork fillet. Incredible home fries as the side on the steak. I wish I would've taken photos to post, but the dishes were getting destroyed as soon as they came out. We had the rhubarb pie as a dessert and Panna cotta. We are coming back tomorrow for lunch and getting the asparagus and tart again. It was that good.

My husband had choucroute garnie and I had chicken with Munster sauce, a very interesting dish. The house wine and cremant were wonderful. We can't say enough about this homey restaurant if a person is looking for nontouristy, local food and vibes.

And when your walking tour guide tells you a fun story about a Michelin-starred restaurant and it's interesting name, you decide to take yourself there. I haven't been to a Michelin-starred restaurant in a very long time and I have never been to one alone, but it was still a lovely experience. The staff was very attentive, kind, and knowledgeable. The food was inventive and enjoyable, though I admit I had a hard time understanding the waitstaff sometimes, so I wasn't always sure what I was eating, but luckily I'm willing to eat anything. I had the discovery menu (appetizer, fish, entree, dessert), 3-course wine pairing, coffee, and the restaurant's "extras" which included some very tasty amuse bouche at the beginning, small desserts with the coffee, and even a cookie to take a home. I did not order from the cheese cart, but it was fun to watch it wheeled out for others. For a Michelin restaurant, I found it very reasonably priced and accessible, though I'm not sure I can say I was completely blown away by the food (wine was fantastic, though). But I did see the crocodile! Which is where the restaurant gets it's name: in the 1800s a sailor came back from Egypt with a stuffed crocodile and had the bright idea to use it as a marketing (who wouldn't want to see a stuffed crocodile?!?)

And of course delicious food!…read more We were in town for the Christmas market, so it was fun to take a break from being outside and eating mostly from food vendors. We came in for lunch and went with the market menu they were offering. We also ended up adding a cheese course, because when in France! Can't say no to cheese! I don't know if it's the primacy effect, but I loved the first course. It was like a little egg soup dish. So warm and hearty, it was just comforting. Everything else was good too, but the cheese was a major highlight for me. The waiter selected a sampling of cheeses for us from a huge cheese cart. It was fun to watch and see all the cheeses on display.
