The eye exam was performed very well. (I was a professor in a well-known Optometry School for many years, so that is a professional assessment.) Their billing department, on the other hand, is a frustrating disaster. I paid all that was due at the time of my visit. Subsequently, I have received a bill that fails to show my payment accurately, and thus indicates a payment is due. I have made several calls about the problem, and each time I am told someone will get back to me about it. No one has got back to me, and each month I continue to receive the bill. It is only a small amount shown as due, but this has been going on for nearly a year now.....Another competent health-care provider, with a completely incompetent administrative support! read more

First they ordered the wrong frames. Then when the new frames came in , I went to exchange the lenses into the correct frames, the receptionist told me she didn't know anything about it and for me to come back when Malory was there. I explained all that she had to do was put the lenses in the new frames which we were told were in and could be picked up Monday at 9:00. The receptionist was obviously annoyed but went in the back and found the new glasses and note explaining everything. She still acted as if it was our fault that they ordered the wrong frames! Just wanted to update my review, I haven't been here for several years as Dr. Baha left and I moved to another area of town and was no longer close. I tried a few other places but was not very happy. I decided to return to Wink Optometry and saw Dr. Wildon Wong. It was definitely worth making the drive. Dr. Wong is kind, personable, and very thorough. The office is immaculate and they have an excellent selection of frames, lenses, and sunglasses. Customer service was great, they had all of my information and ins ready before I got there. As someone who has been dealing with vision issues for 25+ years I can easily say this is one of the best optometrists office I have been to. I highly recommend Wink Optometry. read more

The three was somewhat generous. My experience here was not fantastic. I did not find the selection to be very impressive and drove quite a ways to get here. I was told on the phone that they had a large selection of a particular style, but this was not the case. Additionally, I inquired whether or not they could order a frame for me to check out (prior to purchase) and this seemed to be a bit of a pain. I ultimately decided to buy a frame elsewhere. I ended up liking the frame better at Wink, however I felt the customer service was lacking. I felt that the person who helped me was indifferent to the sale (didn't seem to care or go out of her way). Additionally, once I selected a frame from another location she did not fax my Rx to the other optometrist shop (I had my vision test done there). Aside from this, they did have some nice high-end frames and unique brands. I just didn't feel like there was enough of a selection. read more

Wow. I'm on a nonprofit salary and had a tiny bit of sticker shock but it was SO worth it! I have very bad eyesight (-13) and I knew my lenses would be the problem. Their staff worked with me to get best deal and I have one of my favorite pair of glasses in 14 years. You get what you pay for! read more

As a glasses and contact wearing, finding a good eye doctor is a must. Wink Optometry is convenient to my home, work and they have flexible hours (including Saturdays!). The doctor and staff here are always very friendly and on time. The office is very clean and my visits here have always been quick, but thorough. My only mishaps, were one time I was given the wrong contacts (like a completely different person's order) and another time my insurance was billed incorrectly. Both incidents were quickly resolved. I have not purchased glasses or frames here (I get the cheapies online), but prices on contacts seem to be around the same as I've found under other retailers. I do order my contacts directly through the office and pick them up there, but you can also have them shipped to your home. read more

She explained everything to me and was very polite. Dr. Wong was very thorough and detailed. He explained everything to me and asked many questions. My wife has been going to Wink for many years and suggested I have an exam and check out some glasses. The folks at Wink took amazing care of me and had great suggestions for options on glasses. Frankly, I shopped other places and Wink had the most creative and unusual designs that I loved. Overall the experience was first class and I felt well cared for from the exam through to the value of my glasses. BTW, I had a 2nd pair made from another company and I could tell the accuracy of the glass was not as good as Wink's. Dr. Wong and his professional staff are very good and I'm comfortable trusting my eyes to them anytime! read more

Wink Optometry in Encinitas. Horrible customer service. They continue to charge us for services we did not use. After it was finally corrected they charged interest on the $10 charge. Dr. Wong is good but the support staff needs alot of work. We will be finding another optometry. Very overpriced. read more

This is a great boutique optometry practice. The level of service I received from Dr. Baha and her staff cannot even be compared to a Lens Crafters or other chain centers. Dr. Baha took the time to actually find the lenses that would be th...e best fit to my eyes. I had to try several contacts until we found a brand that best fit. I wore them for a week then received a call from the office to check and make sure that they were still the right fit for me and if I needed anything else. The quality of care made me feel really special. I will be there again to find glasses next time. They had a really great designer selection! read more

I had an emergency eye problem and my eye doctor of 40+ years was closed. I was guided to Wink and was treated by Dr. Wildon Wong immediately. A friend of mine recommended this place & I'm so happy I listened to her. The girls at the front desk were friendly & accommodating. The doctor was pleasant and professional. If you've ever had an eye exam before - You are familiar with that aggressive puff of air that gets blown directly onto your poor li'l eyeballs. They don't do that here. And that's simply b.c. the doctor doesn't like it, so she truly treats her patients as she wishes to be treated. It doesn't get much better than that, in my opinion. read more

I would have to agree with a fellow yelper in that there selection is not the biggest. This time I did notice having a slightly harder time finding a pair of glasses, nothing really jump out at me as the must have pair. I went to Wink because I was having problems with my eyes, they were red and hurting. I wanted a more personalized experience then going to those large retailers where people are waiting in lines. UGH! The store is beautiful, clean and organized. The front staff was fantastic, very welcoming, friendly and professional. The doctor came out and escorted me back, very nice touch. We sat and discussed my symptoms and history, she wanted to get to know me and my background. After a thorough chat, it was concluded that I had an allergy. She prescribed some drops and gave me samples. She requested that I return in one week so she can monitor my progress. I was impressed by her concern and thoughtfulness. WOW! Update: Wink was bought out by another optometry practice in the last year or so, and they are awful. They texted my husband and me with scheduled appointments - only we never scheduled appointments with them. They text all the time and constantly bother us, but they've never actually reached out in a meaningful way. They just schedule appointments without even talking to us. It would have been nice had they reached out to let us know they'd bought Wink and were looking forward to continuing to serve us. But instead, they've just bombarded us with texts without even bothering to pick up the phone and call us. Definitely avoid! Such a disappointment because Wink was so great, and we loved going to them. Wink is fantastic! I love their team, their selection of eyewear, and their lovely office. I got a new pair of glasses from Wink earlier this year, and when they came in, I didn't like how they felt or looked. They were too big for me and constantly slipped off my nose. I called Wink up, and they immediately invited me back in to pick out an entirely new pair of glasses. They took their time and showed me their newest glasses, and I didn't feel rushed or like I was putting them out at all. In the end, they simply switched out the glasses I didn't like for the new ones at no extra cost to me. And I LOVE my new glasses. They look and feel great! Thank you, Wink! read more

I am new to the area and trying to find a new optometrist. I decided to go with Wink however it doesn't seem they want my business. I've called twice with no answer, stopped by the location to which the "will return at 3pm" sign was up, and I contacted through the "make an appointment" form on their website. Phenomenal business. They go above and beyond for their customers. I came in a few days prior to moving across the country to get a new prescription, pair of glasses, and DMV paperwork done. They had the lenses rush shipped back to them, and though they weren't exactly the right size, they contacted me and said they'd have them remade, send them to me in New York, and have the DMV paperwork sent out as well. They kept me well connected the entire time, spent a lot of time helping me pick out the right pair of lenses, and had no problem accommodating for a customer who needed glasses shipped cross country. The female doctor on shift was condescending and the environment wasn't welcoming at all. My previous visit here was initially for contact lenses inquiries as well as frame options. The helpful woman who helped me before, Jazmin wasn't present and the new clerk didn't seem too enthused to assist me. When the female doctor made her appearance, I made an attempt to give a polite greeting but was briefly looked at and ignored. I can understand if she didn't hear me, however I was a potential patient and the fact that I was dismissed and ignored has me now looking elsewhere for eye care. read more

I've been going here for 2 years (once a year). and I think this will be my last. The doctor is wonderful (kudos to you for giving a wonderful exam.). What I had an issue with were the assistants. Once you check in, your clipboard has insurance stuff on there as to what is covered. According to mines, my copay was $10, materials $10. The assistant had me do the initial stuff (taking pictures of my eye etc) and she asked if i wanted the exam for glasses or contacts. I said whatever my copay entitles me to, but i wear contacts most often. She said well, its 129 for the astigmatism. I told her last year I was told I had that, but i'm more comfortable with the regular lenses, and the doctor said it was fine (which was what I've been wearing all my life). So the assistant now goes, the fitting is $99. I said i'm sorry that's overpriced. She walks out again to ask or something then walks in and says okay, $69. I was like ummmm. i'm pretty sure my insurance should cover it? She said no it doesn't. So i said, "ok, forget it, I just want whatever the $10 dollars will entitle me to" She said, "then you would be doing your glasses examination." Then she walks out and back in and goes, "oh, well your insurance actually covers contact lense fitting it as long as you choose the contact lense brand listed" At that point was completely confused. Everything is on file. My contact lense purchase last year.. my exam..etc .. so how on earth did you go from that high priced thing to "oh you only have to pay 10" ??? and why didn't you give me that option beforehand? =/ I don't trust the up sell. Insurance should always come first. Assistants should check the records especially if they don't believe the customer. Not jump back and forth and reducing the price as if my insurance does not exist. Good thing I had some optometrist friends I texted right away as she walked out and they clearly said, "WOW wtfffff that's expensive especially if you have insurance. go call your insurance before you agree to anything. Insurance first, extra payments after" Even if you are new, especially in the healthcare field.. I really think you should check the patients insurance eligibility beforehand. read more

This place epitomized friendly and comfortable. Everybody was pleasant and helpful. I was greeted immediately upon entering and didn't spend any time at all waiting. When scheduling the appointment I had mentioned that I wanted to get a new pair of glasses so that I could give my eyes a break from my contacts every now and then. After filling out my new client paperwork I was shown several different pairs of glasses. The lady helping me was also really nice and helped me narrow down my choices based on what looked good and my own input on what I wanted. Once I had two frames to choose from she took me to see the doctor so that I had some time to think. The examination was more of the same in that Dr. Baha was really friendly and you can tell that her primary motivation is general vision health. The doctor does recommend a retinal photography procedure (that my insurance didn't cover) so that they can track your eye's condition over time. The doctor wasn't pushy about it but did explain it's benefits. That pretty much wrapped up my visit. In and out in about 30-40 minutes, thoroughly satisfied with my experience. Now if only my insurance would hurry up and approve my glasses and frames... read more

One of my least favorite things to do is to buy new prescription glasses. I went in to Wink, and a very friendly woman, Jazmin, spent a ton of time with me! She was exactly what I needed, she went through the styles I had chosen and explained why each one was great, or not so great for my face. She was so patient, and not in the least pushy. I cannot write enough good things about the exceptional service we received at Wink Del Mar today - Dr. Baha is the most wonderful optometrist who went above & beyond to help my reluctant daughter. In the past, we have struggled to get her to actually wear her glasses but at Wink Dr. Baha was so good with her. She really took a lot of time to explain what she was doing during the exam & sat with us afterward to help explain/convince her why she really needs to start wearing them. Her "bedside manner" with my daughter was excellent - she struck just the right balance by directing the entire interaction toward her while at the same time keeping me in the loop. This was my very first experience getting an eye exam done so I went in blindly (no pun intended). The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Dr. Baha was understanding and able to explain step by step what was going to happen throughout the exam.
