I met some friends at DD Peckers for a fun night of storytelling, laughter, drinks, and wings. It…read morewas a seven-stars-out-of-five experience. Out of the four of us, I was the only one who hadn't been here before. It's a long-standing, no-frills wing shack/sports-bar hybrid in south Charlotte that's built a loyal following around one thing: serious wings. There are other things on the menu--but unless you want an appetizer or something alongside your wings, ignore them--the wings are the main event. Their website claims 25 flavors, and if you order more than one set of five, you can sample more than one. I went with ten wings: mild Buffalo and lemon pepper. Everyone recommended the lemon pepper wings. These are not a dry rub; they're a wet, glossy toss--and they are OUTSTANDING. I'm hooked. The Buffalo wings were on par with the best versions of the classic style. They provide celery sticks with blue cheese or ranch dressing--I chose blue cheese--and it was a great accompaniment. We also had their Spicy Onion Rings as an appetizer before we ordered the wings. The onion itself brings natural sweetness and mild sharpness (especially when hot), while the batter/coating is where the personality lives: savory, slightly salty, and well-seasoned. DD Peckers' spicy onion rings are essentially a classic crispy onion ring elevated with a peppery seasoning--where the heat enhances the onion's natural sweetness rather than overpowering it. They have a great selection of craft beers and ciders and offer a full bar. Most of us had Olde Mecklenburg Brewery Copper, a local Charlotte beer. I had two bottles of Bold Rock Hard Apple Cider, which paired well with both the onion rings and the wings, along with a glass of Olde Mecklenburg Copper in between. Our waitress was attentive, fun, and efficient. She kept everything moving seamlessly, and all of our needs were met exceptionally. We all tipped her well. The food and drink here are quite a bargain--especially considering how iconic this restaurant is and how delicious their wings are. A great night with friends, good drinks, and incredible wings--what could be better?

We ordered the chicken tenders and fries and though nothing about the meal was bad, but nothing really stood out either. The tenders were decent and the fries were fine, just fairly average across the board. It was one of those meals where everything was perfectly edible, but nothing memorable enough to make you crave coming back. With so many solid chicken options around Charlotte, I'd probably lean toward places like Poppycox or even Chick-fil-A next time if we're in the mood for tenders and fries. DD Peckers has a good reputation for wings and a big variety of sauces, so that may be where the real draw is. For us though, the tenders and fries didn't quite do enough to earn a repeat visit.

Several excellent local restaurants, too. So I had high hopes today for Pollo Campero. PC was clean when I arrived at 12:30. Quite busy with about a third of the tables in use and the remaining were clear of dirty dishes. Surprising because they don't have a trash can that I could see - the staff bus and clean tables, clearing them swiftly. I ordered a three piece at the counter and it didn't take long until a running found my tent card and I was able to start. The chicken was thoroughly cooked, still moist. Not much for flavor in the skin today, it needed some hot sauce to bring out the taste. The cole slaw was creamy and crisp. Still good but also a little bland. The small dinner roll wrapped in plastic was fresh and fluffy. Overall, it's a nice little fast food spot. If you're looking for something in a known quantity along South Boulevard near the light rail, this will work nicely. [Review 728 of 2025 - 4162 in North Carolina - 24288 overall]

So I'm sure you're thinking how many times is she gonna YELP about the Pineville Wingstop ?…read more I ate there again today even after a not so great experience earlier in the week. I had already reviewed them when I got my order which was an in store pick up and it wasn't exactly right or great experience but I did let them know . The manager Mikey tracked down my phone number and called me personally to apologize. I was really impressed. It wasn't earth shattering mistakes but things were wrong and Mikey made sure I knew he knew and asked to make it right. I am telling you all - that is just ONE of many reasons why I love that place. They actually care and offered to make it right. Today I ordered the 8 piece combo via DoorDash - which I paid for ! Twice in one week !!! It was so good . Everything was just as it should be . Only issue was I ate 2 wings before I realized I needed to capture that photo for y'all ! Two thumbs way up !!!

My dasher waited over 20 minutes for my order, only to be told the food had been given to the wrong customer. The staff acknowledged the mistake but refused to remake the order, leaving me without my food. The store itself appeared unsanitary, and the employees showed no sense of urgency, professionalism, or concern for customer service. Customers should not be penalized for employee errors, and the lack of accountability at this location is unacceptable. Management needs to address both cleanliness and staff training immediately.

It was cold outside, but it was even colder inside the restaurant, to the point where it felt like sitting in a freezer. It honestly made it hard to relax and enjoy the meal. Food-wise, we ordered a variety of items. Some people got pita dishes, others ordered pasta and pizza. One person really liked the eggplant spaghetti, while another didn't care for the sauce, so opinions were mixed. A few people did enjoy their pizzas. I ordered a Greek salad with blackened chicken. I'd rate it about a 5 out of 10, very mid. The salad included cranberries, which was an interesting addition. Not bad, just unexpected. The blackened chicken didn't seem well-seasoned, so it wasn't very impressive overall. On a positive note, the service was good. Our server was friendly and attentive, and I didn't have any issues there. Parking was also plentiful and easy, which is always a plus. Overall, the biggest issue for me was how cold the restaurant was. It was so uncomfortable that it really affected my experience. We might go back again as a group at some point, but I wouldn't go back on my own, and definitely not unless it's warmer inside.
