Every small town needs a local dive and Pineville Tavern serves those needs for the small but growing suburb of Pineville, NC. I was seeing a movie in the area, so I popped in here with some friends to grab some food and drinks beforehand. I had no idea what to expect and I actually drove past it the first time as it keeps a very low profile and is easy to miss. Inside it was larger than it looked from the outside, complete with a stage for live music, a lot of seating, and pool tables as well! The bar is right by the entrance, and walking in most of the seats were taken by people who seemed to be regulars based on their banter with the bartender, my kind of place. Their food menu consisted of mostly your typical pub fare, and I saw the burgers coming out and they looked dang good so I went ahead and ordered the bacon cheeseburger. It came with a big knife in it along with the tots I ordered. I enjoyed the presentation. The burger was cooked very well, but the bacon was a little dry. Overall I enjoyed the food and vibe of this place and I would definitely come back in if I was in the area. I think to fully appreciate it I need to catch some live music one night! read more

Couldn't find many places to meet my friend for a drink and lunch on fourth of July but we were lucky enough to find that Pineville Tavern was open. Bummer for them having to work on the holiday but we were thankful they were there. This is a nice, clean, dive-ish type place. We sat at the bar and had fantastic service. This place has a rather unassuming exterior but inside is a really laid back (sort of old school 1990s vibe) restaurant and bar with pool and a medium stage. The bartender is very approachable, easy to talk with, and highly competent. Ok, so the hamburgers here are incredible. I'd go so far as to say that the burgers at Pineville Tavern are the best in the greater Charlotte area. I hear the chef is from New Orleans. If so, that makes sense, because the flavor and texture is A+. As for a side, I recommend the tater tots. read more

My sister and I were in the area recently and needed something yummy to eat before heading back to our hotel for the night. She chose this spot. It wasn't terribly crowded on a Thursday night but there appeared to be some kind of pool tournament going on. There was music playing the background, but it really wasn't too loud which was nice. I like to be able to have a conversation that doesn't require shouting. It took a bit to get a person to take our order, but she was by herself, so we tried to be patient. We both ordered a beer on tap and then looked at the menu for something to fill our bellies. We decided on the fried bologna sandwich because it reminded us of growing up. We got the tater tots on the side. When the sandwich arrived, it was different from what we had as kids, but it was DELICIOUS. I wish I had taken photos. The thick slice of bologna with the cheese between the bread was perfection. The tater tots were cooked crispy, just the way we like 'em. We also ordered some garlic parmesan wings with french fries. The wings were cooked through on the inside and crispy on the outside, just the way we like 'em. The huge basket of fries came out after and they were cooked crispy, too. I don't think we could have come up with anything better to end our long day than this meal and a tasty beer. Don't miss out! read more

I called ahead to make sure they were open for In-house dinning. They were, so went there and happy to get away from the fancier dinning our local team took us to. They knew the minute we walked in that we were the ones that called and asked about the in-house dinning. Lisa and Christy had some fun with that, but so did we. The service was STELLAR! The food was GREAT as well. This is my kinda place!! We had 6 of the jumbo Parmesan garlic wings and they were fantastic! Cooked crispy and done all the way through too. I had a bacon cheese burger and it was great! Not your typical frozen hockey puck of a bar burger. The drinks were constant and the food was great! What more can you ask for?!? I must admit that I was more than a little skeptical when a friend suggested I give this place a shot, as I can definitely see how the outside appearance of the place could come off as a little rough and uninviting to some, but let me tell you that this place is the exact definition of don't judge a book by its' cover, as I was welcomed from the time I stepped in and felt like part of the family from start to finish. The service was very welcoming and friendly, the wings and burgers were well cooked with a lot of flavor, the people were cool and personable even though I looked different than anyone else in the place for the most part. After my initial skepticism wore off, I felt completely comfortable having a few beers and dinner at the bar, so much so that I came back a few nights later for karaoke. I must admit that this isn't Southend or NoDa karaoke, so if that is what you are looking for, you won't find it here, but if you want a low key, fun and memorable experience where first timers are welcomed without judgment and without the parking hassles and fraternity row vibe of some other places with karaoke nights around town, then definitely check out Friday night karaoke as you will have a blast! read more

She mentioned that they were known for their hand-pressed burgers so we opted to go for that. Since I have never been here, I caught the attention of the person, I assumed, was the waiter to ask and make sure that we should seat ourselves. Instead of an answer I got a bow and quipped "the maître d will be right with you". Sure, everyone thought it was hilarious, but I was just embarrassed. I decided to shrug it off for the moment and sat down. The waiter/bartender ended up being quick and efficient. His manners also improved and he ended up being pretty nice. The wings were meaty, juicy and sauced just right. The bacon was a little overcooked but otherwise, the BLT was good. Onion rings were beer-battered and plentiful. We also had mozzarella sticks. Truth be told, I was leery when my best friend recommended this place. Friends...do not let the outside deter you! We walked in and everyone was Super friendly and welcoming. We sat ourselves and the bar tender quickly came over to take our drink and food orders. She took great care of us and didn't let our glasses go empty! The place is a smidge on the divey side, perhaps 90s era decor - but the food and service more than make up for it! We ordered the mozzarella sticks, perfectly toasted tater tots and BBQ flavored wings with ranch dressing. Finger lickin' good!! HEY... as my Best friend said, "I never promised healthy, just delicious!" There was a band playing some Country music and they were okay. What can I say? This place has great burgers! In fact, they have one of the best burgers I've ever eaten! They use hand patted burgers and cook them to order. You can specify how you want your burger cooked. They come with french fries, tater tot's or onion rings. I do wish they would offer a salad instead but that's a minor beef no pun intended! I haven't had their wings but many people rave about them! They're supposed to have good hotdogs as well. As some of the other reviews have pointed out, this place is a dive! It has been here for years and is usually full of regulars as most patrons seem to know each other. They have a decent craft beer selection but some of the beers are a little pricey. Great burger and onion rings. Live music, Whiskey Alibi, was reasonably talented and entertaining, and for the most part while loud, was at a volume that allowed for conversation. We went on a Thursday for lunch. Unfortunately the fryer was down so we couldn't rate the wings, fries and onion rings. Service is 5+ stars. They let us know about the fryer before we sat down. I thought that was really classy. Gave us the chance to decide - stay or go. We stayed. I got the bacon cheeseburger. I asked for a second patty since I knew o wasn't going to fill up on sides and wings. They advised against it as they said 1 would be plenty. They were right. That burger was huge. Cooked perfectly, bacon on point - a nice thick type slice. Only ding - burger came with ketchup mustard and mayo. Menu said nothing about ketchup. I usually don't have any condiments but was in the mood for that mustard mayo combo. I never get ketchup. But it did not detract. That burger was flipping awesome. Total hole in the wall but the wings are on point! (so are the beer prices) I've been here a handful of time and each time there has been a great band playing. Whiskey Lullaby was there this most recent visit and I would love to check them out again. Apparently they are group of people that work together in an office but playing live music is their side hustle. Check them out. Back to the task at hand... YOU MUST TRY THE GOOSE FLAVORED WINGS!
