This is a private bar. They do allow well behaved visitors. I enjoyed playing a couple of games on the billiards.

I was seeing a movie in the area, so I popped in here with some friends to grab some food and drinks beforehand. I had no idea what to expect and I actually drove past it the first time as it keeps a very low profile and is easy to miss. Inside it was larger than it looked from the outside, complete with a stage for live music, a lot of seating, and pool tables as well! The bar is right by the entrance, and walking in most of the seats were taken by people who seemed to be regulars based on their banter with the bartender, my kind of place. Their food menu consisted of mostly your typical pub fare, and I saw the burgers coming out and they looked dang good so I went ahead and ordered the bacon cheeseburger. It came with a big knife in it along with the tots I ordered. I enjoyed the presentation. The burger was cooked very well, but the bacon was a little dry. Overall I enjoyed the food and vibe of this place and I would definitely come back in if I was in the area. I think to fully appreciate it I need to catch some live music one night!

It's a great place to play with APA players in 8 and 9 ball. Food choices are available but not a full kitchen (pizza, nachos, popcorn are the staples.) Drinks tend to be on the strong side and not overpriced. Bottled and canned beer and a full well, plus wine is available sometimes. I was at Blue Rocks with a few friends to grab a couple beers and play darts on a Friday night in February 2023. They have leagues on Friday nights so it was highly crowded with customers. As the night went on I went to the ladies room and unbeknownst to me, a man followed me into the women's restroom. I personally did not know he was in there but thankfully another customer saw this happen and went up to my friend and told her to run and go get me since I was followed. As I was walking out of the stall my friend abruptly opened the door and that is when I saw a man standing behind the wall of the other stall (in between the sink and stall), hiding. My friend immediately grabbed me and we quickly left the restroom. I immediately walked up to the bar tender to report the situation and he said he would "take care of it and thank you for letting him know". I felt reassured in this moment since the bar tender and I have seen each other several times and I felt like had a rapport. Or so I thought...but 10 or so minutes later go by and I see the same man still standing at the bar ordering a drink. This made me uncomfortable so I went to close out my tab to leave. The bar tender then says to me "I handled the situation." I stated "no, you did not, he is still in the bar." Bar tender replied "Well I asked him why he followed you into the women's restroom and he said he didn't know he was in the women's restroom." So not only did the bar tender NOT handle the situation, he also disclosed I was the one who reported the situation and now the man knows exactly who I am, where I have been sitting, where my friends are etc. I am writing this review because not only did I feel unsafe...the bartender also did not do his duty to protect his customers. I have been going to Blue rocks for years. By myself, with my friends, with my family and have never felt unsafe until this very night. I am extremely perturbed by how this was handled (well actually it wasn't handled) and want others to be aware so they can be prepared to protect themselves when they are there. Although the man did not harm me as the situation was stopped by multiple customers (thankfully...seriously I cannot thank you enough!) it was extremely inappropriate and unfortunate. I will not be returning to this establishment and I hope Blue Rocks can learn from this situation and act accordingly the next time this happens.

Out of the four of us, I was the only one who hadn't been here before. It's a long-standing, no-frills wing shack/sports-bar hybrid in south Charlotte that's built a loyal following around one thing: serious wings. There are other things on the menu--but unless you want an appetizer or something alongside your wings, ignore them--the wings are the main event. Their website claims 25 flavors, and if you order more than one set of five, you can sample more than one. I went with ten wings: mild Buffalo and lemon pepper. Everyone recommended the lemon pepper wings. These are not a dry rub; they're a wet, glossy toss--and they are OUTSTANDING. I'm hooked. The Buffalo wings were on par with the best versions of the classic style. They provide celery sticks with blue cheese or ranch dressing--I chose blue cheese--and it was a great accompaniment. We also had their Spicy Onion Rings as an appetizer before we ordered the wings. The onion itself brings natural sweetness and mild sharpness (especially when hot), while the batter/coating is where the personality lives: savory, slightly salty, and well-seasoned. DD Peckers' spicy onion rings are essentially a classic crispy onion ring elevated with a peppery seasoning--where the heat enhances the onion's natural sweetness rather than overpowering it. They have a great selection of craft beers and ciders and offer a full bar. Most of us had Olde Mecklenburg Brewery Copper, a local Charlotte beer. I had two bottles of Bold Rock Hard Apple Cider, which paired well with both the onion rings and the wings, along with a glass of Olde Mecklenburg Copper in between. Our waitress was attentive, fun, and efficient. She kept everything moving seamlessly, and all of our needs were met exceptionally. We all tipped her well. The food and drink here are quite a bargain--especially considering how iconic this restaurant is and how delicious their wings are. A great night with friends, good drinks, and incredible wings--what could be better?

We ordered the chicken tenders and fries and though nothing about the meal was bad, but nothing really stood out either. The tenders were decent and the fries were fine, just fairly average across the board. It was one of those meals where everything was perfectly edible, but nothing memorable enough to make you crave coming back. With so many solid chicken options around Charlotte, I'd probably lean toward places like Poppycox or even Chick-fil-A next time if we're in the mood for tenders and fries. DD Peckers has a good reputation for wings and a big variety of sauces, so that may be where the real draw is. For us though, the tenders and fries didn't quite do enough to earn a repeat visit.

The…read moreatmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a sports lodge--tons of TVs everywhere so you can catch every game, but with that rustic outdoor theme too. Mounted game fish, moose, and deer heads give it that hunting-lodge vibe, which actually makes it a fun place to hang out and watch sports. We started with the Billionaire Bacon appetizer--six slices of bacon described as thick-cut, hickory-smoked and candied with brown sugar, red chile flakes, black pepper, smoked paprika, and cayenne. The flavor description was accurate, but the bacon itself really wasn't thick-cut and could've been much crispier. For the price, I expected better. If it had been thicker and crispy, it might've been worth it, but I probably won't order that again. My girlfriend ordered the Southwest Salad, and that dish absolutely delivered. It was a heaping portion topped with perfectly cooked sliced sirloin steak and shrimp, plus mixed greens, carrots, pico de gallo, roasted corn, black beans, pepper jack, and a jalapeño honey vinaigrette. She absolutely loved it. She also got a side of coleslaw, which was surprisingly delicious and a great addition to the meal. She paired everything with the Dirty Blonde beer, which definitely made up for the disappointing appetizer. I went with the naked garlic Parmesan wings and a side Caesar salad. Both were delicious. The wings were fried perfectly--crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside--and the flavor was spot on. I was very satisfied with them. Service was great as well. We actually had two servers because one was in training, and both of them were attentive, friendly, and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. Overall, I'd rate our experience a 4.5 out of 5. The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere were all really good, and we had a fun time. If not for the underwhelming Billionaire Bacon, this would've easily been a full 5. We'll definitely be back--just skipping that appetizer next time.
