We were there for my son's soccer training with his private coach at the GoalDen so my wife and daughters decided to check out MJB for drinks and dinner. I love a brewery that takes as much pride in their food as their beer. We enjoyed our sandwiches and burgers and we ordered my son garlic parm wings for after his session. Stopped by Middle James Brewery and it did not disappoint! I had the Philly cheesesteak and wings--both were excellent. The cheesesteak was packed with flavor, gooey cheese, and the perfect bread-to-meat ratio. The wings were crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and seasoned just right. You can tell they don't cut corners on their food. As for drinks, I sampled a little of everything: a hazy IPA, a seltzer, and an American lager. The hazy was smooth and citrusy without being too bitter--solid choice if you're into IPAs. The seltzer was surprisingly refreshing and not overly sweet, and the lager was crisp, clean, and easy-drinking. Honestly, they've got something for every kind of beer (or non-beer) drinker. The vibe here is laid-back and welcoming--perfect spot to hang with friends or catch a game. I'll definitely be back for another round (and probably another cheesesteak). Great location. Huge patio and wide open, well-lit tap room. During my visit, I sat at the bar. Only one person working and he only tended to the line of folks. Two other employees were behind the bar talking to a local but would not/could not help with beer. Finally a second beer tender came out and I got helped quickly. Looks like a great place to watch sports with lots of TVs and a definite bent for Aston Villa Football Club. Something super cool is that it sits adjacent to a large driving range and par 3 course. Mix some local beer with golf...fun! Hour Mark (American IPA) Nicely hopped and earthy. Very light and approachable. Slight melon notes on the back end with aromas of a grassy meadow in summer. Infinite Realities (fruited sour) Notes of raspberry and cranberry. This hazy pink brew is refreshing and has just a bit of tartness. Truly delicious on a hot summer day. Stopped by here with a couple of friends around 6pm. Opted to sit outside where we can overlook the people playing golf's. It's definitely a nice relaxing site.. I ordered the Kid raspberry. Didn't care for it because it's a little on the tart side for me. I later had the Mango Truck which I like soo much better. My friend was responsible for ordering the food. Which is separate from the bar. Understandable. But the problem is.. Because I was the one who order the drinks.. I have a tab started. However when he placed an order for food. She stated how it has to be a tab at the bar. He can't pay for it right then. Yet, our friend behind him who also don't have a tab at the bar was able to pay for his food. If we're going to have rules and regulations. Let enforce it across the board. No exceptions. I was not happy with the customer services. I had the beer brats. Which I was a little disappointed. We discovered this brewery when we first moved to Charlotte. In the past two years this place has become one of our favorite staples to visit. The staff remembers us and waves high every time we walk in. It's like cheers but with better brews. One of our go to is the Musa as well as any of the Nitros they rotate. Their food is also a nice surprise as the cater to a variety of flavors from burgers, to pizza to salads and even chicken wings. Crazy how time flies, but Middle James has been my go-to brewery-meet up spot in this pandemic world we live in. I know, [gasp] but seeing how other breweries and bars (especially in the South End area - cough, cough) really put into perspective where I want to spend my time. I also feel like I've most definitely aged out of Southend. Pandemic aside, there is plenty of parking, A TON of outdoor space, and a driving range next door. What more can you want?! Oh - friendly staff and an on-site kitchen, you say? BAM There are tons of TVs inside and a large bar to park you butt at. The few times I have gone, we've been able to spread out and have a table in the corner. The masks did go away for a glorious couple of months, but now they are back. Okay, I feel like I am in the woods here as we are driving from South Charlotte, but come on now, what in Charlotte is not 20 mins away? lol Great outdoor venue, right next to a Par 3 Golf Course and an Old Timey Driving Range (LMBO) compared to Top G*&^, So go Hti Some balls, Work up an Appetite and then have something to Eat and Drink at MJB. What a very relaxed, child pet friendly venue with okay parking. As we were getting ready to leave it had filled up to near capacity. The Picnic benches are awesome but being out in the open on a hot day will be challenging putting people at odds to get one with an umbrella. lol Hopefully they will buck up and get all the tables umbrellas. We absolutely LOVE the Middle James brewery. We try to come as much as we can and have become quite the regulars. They have a fabulous food menu with tons of options (even vegetarian) and even better beers. I would 10/10 recommend the honey sriracha chicken tenders and if you're town between fries or tots I would definitely get the fries and some honey mustard. They have events weekly and our favorite one is Thursday night Music Bingo. You can totally use Shazam if you're not as musically inclined and the entire bar is always jamming. The best part about this brewery is that it's right next to a driving range and a par-3 9 hole course. read more

Middle James is a brewery that offers a gastro-pub type of menu. Dining is self service with indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor area is pretty large with long tables. It seemed to be an ideal spot for a large group of adults and teenagers but we were totally wrong! The menu is fairly simple with burgers, salads, wings, and sandwiches. The food is self service. Thanks lace your order and then pick up when ready. I was not surprised that with our large group, the line to order was very long. What did surprise me was that it took two and a half hours to get our food! At any other time we probably would have just walked out, but we made the best of it, socializing with friends and teammates. When we finally received our food, it was good. I ordered an MJB Salad with Chicken that was missing the toasted pecans. It was disappointing that after waiting g all that time they could not get the dish right. One might say it's not fair to rate Middle James after an experience with such a large group. I believe they should have given us an inkling of how long our orders would take. Slammed! We went to Middle James Brewery after my sons soccer game with his entire team and the place was packed! There were no seats available inside or out HOWEVER, service was lightning fast, food and beers came out quickly and everything was great. There was no indication Middle James was busy except for seeing the number of people. The staff were helpful and efficient and in no way seemed or made us feel rushed. Additionally, there is a pretty cool view over a golf driving range out the back patio/ windows which provides some great golfer watching. As with every brewery there are some common house beers that are always on tap and then some that rotate with seasons or popularity. I had a pint of Hour Mark (flagship brew) and Promise the Moon. Both promise tons of flavor and well brewed beers. There is a selection of seltzers, ciders and gluten free beers but those are limited to one or two each. As for the food...I mentioned we went with my sons entire soccer team...of teenagers....after playing two soccer games... In short, ordering food was seamless but when it came it seemed like a bloodbath of hands and mouths grabbing everything and stuffing it their mouths. The good side was I got to taste the chicken tenders, my burger (about half before my son was ready to devour that too), fries and my wife's patty melt. My girlfriend and I have been coming here for a few years because she likes one beer they make but they are all just "ok" to me. The service is what really lacks at this place. The guy that always has a Bears hat on is always super friendly and welcoming but the others are mostly rude. We've even been buying it from the grocery store if we can't make it by the brewery but after this past weekend, I won't go back. I like it here and have been several times. There is a ton of seating indoors and outdoors which is a plus. They have a limited food menu which always looks good, although I have never tried anything. My reasons for 4 stars: service is never very friendly, the beer is nothing overly special, it's always loaded with kids running around everywhere. Discovered this 2mo old beer gem on my most recent outing to Pineville. They have a surprisingly great and mature beer selection that is true to style! Usually a brewery's first batches have a learning curve, but their Car Lava Porter & Highly Dramatic vol 2 & 3 were fantastic! They also have a full menu including poutine! Their poutine was on point and filling! Barstaff were so nice and open to sampling! I started w/their 6-beer sampler but ended up having all 10 on draught! Overall, this place is not bad. I'm glad there is finally a brewery in this area. It's easy to get in and out of but yes the parking situation can be crazy. We avoided that by parking to the lot on the side and just walking over. We've been here a few times. First time it was their opening weekend. Staff was super friendly. Bathrooms are clean and the space is open. Yes, it's very loud in here. We didn't stay long. We also didn't get any food but the food looks good. Second time we were here we sat at a table in the main area. My husband liked all the beers he tried. The noise was even louder. Almost unbearable. Really cool spot with good quality beer and a wide variety. Food is delicious and varies from greasy bar food to elevated small bites. The patty melt is crispy and flavorful. Tots are salty and crunchy, but sometimes a little too greasy. Drinks and food have to be ordered at separate windows but your tab is linked for convenience. Service is pretty fast and staff is knowledgeable about the beers. Large, open industrial type place so it can get pretty loud but it's fun and relaxed. Fair amount of parking available. Only atmospheric con would be the tables aren't balanced on the concrete slab floor. read more
