I found myself in Pineville recently having dinner, and after our dinner while walking along the streets of the charming downtown, we stumbled across Kits. It looked cozy and inviting and we were fancying a night cap, so in we went. As their name implies they are located by the train tracks and specialize in craft beer as both a bottle shop and a tap room. They have a large number of rotating taps with a variety of different beers. Inside they have a number of games along with couches and a variety of comfy seating. We pulled up a stool at the bar which was also pretty full. It definitely feels like a regular neighborhood hangout. The servers had a lot of great recommendations from their tap list and clearly enjoy what they do. It is definitely first and foremost dedicated to craft beer so if it isn't your thing it may not be your favorite place. Me myself I enjoyed my time and if I lived in the area I would likely stop in regularly. If you find yourself in the area I recommend stopping in to check out their draft list. Kit and the crew were very welcoming to this first timer, as they made me feel like family from the moment I walked in the door and I definitely got a "Cheers" type vibe from the place as there was a diverse cast of characters around the bar and everyone made me feel right at home even though I was a newcomer. The staff was also very knowledgeable about beer and conveyed their knowledge with passion and enthusiasm, as each person behind the bar had the heart of a teacher and came across like they truly loved their job and getting the opportunity to share their love of beer with others. I asked our "beertista" (is that a word, if not, I am claiming rights to it now!) to set us up with a flight of varied beers so that we could get a feel for what we liked, and she walked hand in hand with us on the journey explaining each beer without being condescending or judgmental at our lack of knowledge, which was awesome, because boy do we have a lack of knowledge! This was important though, because far too often, some brewery employees come across as as pretentious and seem to look down on you if you don't know the top 5 differences between a stout and a lager or whatever, or actually look down on you period if you dare mention the lager word haha. Not here though, as they were all about helping us find what we liked, not try to convince us why we should like a certain thing. That to me is what made me feel so comfortable, because I truly felt like they enjoyed helping us discover something new while also helping us discover our "unique taste profile", so that we could find what we truly enjoyed. Kit's doesn't just set the bar, but it is the bar (see what I did there!) when it comes to craft beer places, as today's environment seems to put an emphasis on quantity and name recognition over quality and education, but Kit's simply focuses on being a friendly, welcoming place where you can learn about and enjoy a good beer with friends both new and old, all while being treated like family, and at the end of the day, isn't that what we all want....a place we can call home. read more

I had a great experience at this corner craft pub. We drove by on our way to the flea market and I knew we had to stop on the way home. The yellow exterior was eye catching and gives a fun vibe. It's neighbors with lots of adorable shops. There's some street parking available but I could see parking becoming an issue on busy days. Going inside I noticed the decor was really cool. Railroad inspired art and vintage items on the walls. Lots of shelves full of fun and rare beers. The bartender greeted us and made us feel welcome. We checked out the list and I selected a flight of 4 cider and beer pours for $8. The only critique I have is that I noticed a weird bleach or cleaning product smell which could have ruined an experience for someone sensitive to smells. VERY impressed with the bartender dealing with a difficult patron. The customer took their drink outside on the patio and half-way through, it attracted a fly. The customer requested it be replaced with a can of the same. He refused a half-hour from the tap. The bartender refused because this is ot only not an appropriate remedy, it's not legal. This is such a great chill spot. Parking is easy to find. Staff is friendly. They greet you you right when you come in. I love the decor. Very rustic and clean. My husband and friends got their selections of beer and they were all happy with the pricing. They also have some snacks you can purchase. We were here for a few hours and the service was great. Although we did have dinner plans I was able to check out Kit's menu and did see they offer a great variety of options, including some interesting sounding hot dogs! I was visiting from Richmond VA area with some friends and while our wives were attending an art class we decided to come here as our 1st stop which turned out to be our only stop. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and the woman working the bar (forgive me and my name remembering) was beyond excellent. The bar itself has a cool vibe to it with the exposed brick and they have a good variety on tap that they let you taste before buying. I asked the bartender if they had a certain brewery in cans and without hesitation she told me exactly where to find the beers in the cooler. She was very up to speed on the various beer styles and gave some great recommendations. One of the best experiences I have had in a very long time and there are some great beer places here in the RVA area but it is rare to find a place with great beer selection and a great staff that really knows what they are talking about. Yay for Kit & his crew!! I have been really excited for this place to open, I am looking forward to being a regular! I went for opening day yesterday at noon. The location is beautiful, exposed bricks and beams, colorful & creative seating, and small enough to be cozy but big enough that you don't feel cramped. Located right on Main Street in downtown Pineville, this is shaping up to be quite a little hot spot! Street parking can be tricky, but there are plenty of surrounding parking lots. Kit is a Certified Cicerone, and has put thought into every inch of this place. From the beers on tap, to a cask and bottles on shelves, everything is figured out. Service was quick, even during the grand opening. People were pulling wraps out of one of the coolers too, I'll have to get in on that next time. There is a great mix between Charlotte local, regional and national beers, and Kit's crew knows their stuff. Fede talked to me for a bit at the bar and told me about the hops in this beer and that beer. He also explained that ideally they want this to be a learning space. Somewhere that you can go to really learn about beer and explore the different styles and figure out what you like/don't like and why. I really think that Charlotte needs a space like this, one where you can ask questions and not have to google things under the bar to pretend to fit in - looking at you, hipsters... Between family visiting for the holidays, being sick and being on vacation I continued to hear good things about this new spot from my beer loving co-workers! (That, and one time trying to show up at 10:30 not knowing they close at 10! -- See, always check Yelp!) They were not wrong in anything they reported back! Since no food is served, you are welcome to bring in your own nom noms to enjoy - which is benificial to making it through a night a adult beverage partaking. There are televisions for your enjoyment, if you so desire not to socialize. A friend brought me to Kit's since I live in Ballantyne and wanted to find me a watering hole I could frequent and call home. Not being too far, this place covered all my minimum requirements for such: relaxed environment, affordable & wide selection, and most importantly a friendly and knowledgeable staff! I immediately felt welcomed here and was able to make myself at home in no time. Pretty spacious space here and there bottles and cans ranged from some rare, local stuff to distro you expect to see at any bar or bottle shop. Bathrooms were clean and they have parking in the back. With all the cute little shops they have there in Pineville it's great to know you can park and shop, then enjoy a brew or two afterwards. I do wish they stayed open a bit later but I get it, it's Pineville not much going on after 10. All in all, two thumbs up over here! read more

Nothing to complain about here. Kit's got a good operation going on. An awesome bottle shop with a fair amount of things on tap, Kit's is a wonderful stop for somebody looking for something tangible to take home, or just to hang out. The decor is exposed brick and train tracks (meaning there are giant lights and signs and stuff) and apparently when the actual train comes by, the building rattles. Cool. On a Friday night, it was actually pretty chill. Some people were sitting down around a table playing a game. Kit was in his back room with a meeting. The Lady and I found 2 seats at the bar and were helped immediately and were given full attention all night. We also brought dinner leftovers and were allowed to bring food in and eat there. We grabbed a pint, and ended up leaving with a 6 pack as well! They have bottles, cans, bombers, and 2 fridges for your immediate needs. I spoke with one of the bartenders, Fede, and we spoke about the politics of Wicked Weed, the hops behind certain flavors, and the bacteria behind funkiness as opposed to sourness... and I left educated. Kit is also a certified Cicerone and the beer selection and descriptions behind his menu shows it. Even if you don't talk to anybody (which you should), you'll leave informed. This place is a hidden gem in downtown Pineville. It is literally next to the railroad tracks. They have the most interesting selection of craft beer both on tap as well as in bottles and cans. The Lime Pilsner is a must have if it is available. They even have wine on tap. The owner Kit is very warm, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I visited Kit's twice last week while I was in town. First thing I noticed - I wasn't asked to pay for my drink before I received it. I'm sick and tired of places asking me how I'm going to pay for my drink I haven't gotten yet. I've been lucky enough to travel the country over the years and drink a lot of beer. I love trying new beer. Most places I go to (except breweries I am visiting for the first time) have only a handful of new beers for me. I walked into this place and all 21 beers they had on tap were new to me. That has never happened. The staff was very accommodating to letting me try a beer before I went all in and their love of beer was obvious. The bartender, Derrick, when we first walked in, was immediately attentive to our needs and knows everything about beer that you could possibly imagine. My fiancé and I only planned on stopping in for a beer and 3 hours later....we are still here. Then we met Kit, the owner. Kit cares about his customers SO much. He even opened up different beers on the shelf just so I could be happy about what I was drinking. FYI...They also do kegs. My dad is turning 60 next week and I was originally planning on getting a keg through a big name brewery until I stopped in here. Kit was more than willing to accommodate our needs for a better price because that's how much he appreciates his customers.
