Tried the fresh my farm beer cocktail and it's one of my favorites! I'd suggest that one if you want a stronger version of a drink alcohol-wise since they use their own beer and tequila. It's not a sour, or sweet, or one extreme type of drink, just a well balanced one in the middle but still tasteful. Staff is always super nice and down to earth, and place is clean. They got board games and you can bring dogs. Plenty of tables for big parties too. Just note the place closes at 11pm. read more

While here from Atlanta for the Holidays, I went to the Free Range Brewery today for their annual "New Year's Free Soup Day" and I had a grand time! I ate my fill of soups, cheese bread, ciabatta bread, potato bread, and toasted baguettes! There were lots and lots of different kinds of soups from various chefs from around the city! There were also cookies and donut holes provided by some local bakeries, and some beverages from some local breweries! Outside of the amazing food, I met some really friendly people and even ran into a few of my own family members, who told me that this was their 4th year attending! I must admit a good time was had by all! It was good times, great food, and good peoples! Thank you, Free Range Brewery, for a spectacular Soup Day! I wish we had something like this in Atlanta! This place is a gem - I love the recent addition of food! The brunch and regular menu are so good. The beer is always fresh. Cream of the crop is my favorite light and easy drinker. I can't decide if I like the hot dogs the most, the grits, or what, but it's a very welcome addition of good eats to our neighborhood. I love this place! It's amazing how they locally source all of their beer and it's amazing! Therapy session is my personal favorite, they also have a lot of non beer options! I learned that David Childers was playing a Sunday afternoon show here so I wanted to check it out. I read the reviews and checked out their web site and decided it would be worth a try. I live in Fort Mill, SC so a long drive into NoDa is not something I do lightly. Sarah joined me and she was driving in from Matthews, NC so we both made quite a commitment to get there. I called in advance around 1p on Sunday and talked to lady about their wine selection. She said ' oh yes, we have plenty of different types of wine, we have it by the glass or we have a cooler where you can buy it by the bottle, we have Chardonnay, Merlot & Cab Sav. Now, I know this is a brewery but not everyone drinks beer some by choice and some due to dietary/medical reasons. I confirmed that David Childers was playing and was to take the stage at 3p. Sarah had already found street parking when I arrived and it was just after 3p and the first thing she said was ' your guy is not playing' So we walked in and there was a young singer guitar player on the stage. Even though this place has a web site and an Instagram site, they don't update for current artist which is why I called I ahead. It turned out that David and partial band were starting at 330p. When I asked for the wine list, they were all blends. Not a single wine was a dedicated Merlot, Chardonnay, Cab Sav or other. She pointed me to the wine cooler and there were all these bottles that had funky looking/sounding labels but no where on the label dd it say what type of wine it was. We went back to the bar and ordered by the glass and I asked the lady if they allowed 'corking' in other words, bring your own wine, pay a fee and have a wine of your choice.. Her response was 'yeah, sure, people do it all the time' I said well 'how much does that cost' she says 'well, just walk over to the cooler over there and the prices are on the bottle' So, you kinda get the drift of how that went. Clearly, they want you to buy their beer & if you're a wine drinker you get no love here. You will pay $13 bucks for a 6 ounce pour of wine that no one knows what's in it except something blended. David and the band were great and I really liked the venue for a live performance. I hope you like dogs cause there are critters everywhere and that's all fine until the bulldog meets the terrier and they don't mix. It can get ugly, tough luck if you're there to enjoy the music. It is free so you can't complain too loudly. There are mostly picnic tables so be prepared to sit with the family, their dogs and all their kids. There are maybe 4 or 5 barrel like table tops with 3 to 4 high seats. Get there early or take your chances with the critters. They advertise they have food trucks. Not today though because they are all at the Southern Food Truck festival. No where on google was there any such festival posted. Good luck finding parking. They have no dedicated parking lot. You can park on the street or there is a gravel lot adjacent so be prepared if you just got your ride washed and detailed. read more

No flights (half or full pours only) and no in house food. Interior isn't too large but right now, they're doing a good job of spacing everyone out. Music playing nice and low in the background. Because they don't do flights, I only tried a couple beers and both were fine...nothing earth shattering, nor were they bad by any stretch. They have maybe 15 beers on tap here. I found the beertender to be very friendly and he gave several recommendations without me even asking. They do have canned beers for takeaway and apparently, on Sundays they have free live music from 3 to 5 pm. This location is also dog friendly. read more

Went to their annual New Year's Day free soup event, and it was so cool. Literally free, of course can give a donation but they don't require it. So many soups and breads and baked goods to chose from. Everyone was so friendly and just there to have a good time with yummy eats. What a cool place, Clean, friendly, and right in the middle of this up and coming North Camp Area. It is not actually the brewery, it is more of an outlet for their brewery, but still pretty cool. Drama, drama, drama. The service was great but the beer and the kombucha is too tart. Something is missing. The food truck outside was I think Korean? The food was amazing especially the dumplings. To much drama inside which looked like the owners friends had started a heated conversation with another group of people. Besides that commotion there was another flaky situation with a young woman with two guys and she was out loud saying negative comments about the musician and people walking by. A very angry woman giving negative gestures and comments about everyone around her. We're not sitting far from her and you can hear her. It's not a comfortable environment. its like another brewery friends of friends and no one is really friends. read more

The brewery has delicious beers they make and some from other places. I loved the porter from Free Range and then tried the Amor Artis beer Oatmeal raisin cookie that was phenomenal!!! It's awesome and tastes like a cookie!! I loved it!! We enjoyed the atmosphere and laid back people. I think the kid friendly toys and books are so thoughtful and helpful! I stopped by here earlier today with my wife and her parents for some afternoon drinks. Free Range is one of a number of breweries on North Davidson and we had driven past Free Range multiple times. Whenever the brewery we were visiting closed down early due to a private party, it provided the perfect reason to visit Free Range Brewing. The inside of the place is large with the brewing equipment in the front and a party room which was closed for a private party in the back. There is a large bar on one side and tables on the other with lots of quilting art for sale on the walls. The building itself looks like an old warehouse and so the ceiling and I beams are painted black although the ductwork is visible and still silver. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to try a flight here. Unfortunately, they don't do flights and so I settled for a kicking it (Carolina lightly smoked porter) instead. It was as described as you got those dark and malty flavors up front and then a bunch of campfire flavor on the back. I enjoyed this beer but I don't know that I could have had more than one as I was getting tired of that smokiness by the end of my 13 oz. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. I enjoyed the beer that I got here and would be interested in trying more. read more

This past weekend I headed out with my fiancé and friends and checked out free range, it's always a must stop in noda as I just love their beer. The staff is always super nice and helpful, and of course they have delicious beer . The open area they have In the back for shows was open that has cornhole, photo booth and tons of seating. Loved chillin back there, and tons of inside seating which was bomb because it was so hot . This was my first craft brewery visit in Crown Town and I have to say I was impressed! I loved the decor, openness, abundance of seating and natural light. The bartender we had was absolutely fantastic! Not only was he very well versed in their offerings he was so sweet to give us little "try before you buys". I feel like we practically drank the whole menu and nothing disappointed. They said they switch out the taps often, so that is awesome! I had one beer because they had already poured it, and it was like pulling teeth, trying to pay them with real money. I went here for an evening of classical music paired with lasers and had a great time! I love that they have a separate room for events and love shows - I think it gives performers more respect and space to do their craft. I found the folding seats super uncomfortable but they have other seating options in the back. The show was great, and I appreciated how it wasn't just a other night of live music with a guy and his guitar. Nothing wrong with that, but it's nice to have something different. I'm definitely interested in seeing what other unique events they have in the future. The server was welcoming and poured a couple of samples before I decided on a drink. I didn't love the wine that I had (it was a rose) but they had a Sauvignon Blanc that I'm keen to try next time I go. I enjoyed sampling their slushie - it was guava, I think, and very refreshing. You can get that mixed with or without prosecco. It was a great night and I hope to visit again soon. read more

The staff was friendly, if a little frazzled due to the crowd. Great live music and extremely family friendly (read: kids of all ages). Was glad to see an entire second menu for non-beer and small food items, although I'd probably leave hungry if it wasn't a special dinner night. When I arrived, there were a varieties of local vendors showcase their goods for people like us to see and purchase if we would like.. Their beers are all good. I haven't tried everything and of course I couldn't remember the names of what I tried. Alway been a little tipsy after a beer or two. And if there's no food vendors inside, they try their best to get a food truck to come by so we can alway have beers and food if we want.. Free Range have a listed of events going on at any given day. But it's alway local with people who represent Charlotte. So come by and see for yourself. read more

I really love this spot. It's so much lower-key than most breweries around Charlotte. It's filled with light and makes for a great hang spot. Grab a beer (or a few) and post up inside or outside, munch on some house-made snacks, and even enjoy live music! The space itself is beautiful: classic concrete flooring with an artful flair. There's a beautiful tile design behind the taps. There are bar seats, tables, and outdoor tables. There's also another room in the back where they have live music, yoga class, events, and more. They always have a wide variety of beers (and sizes). The bartenders are super nice and knowledgable and will help you find what you like. And because it's made right there, it's not too expensive. This is definitely one of my favorite breweries in Charlotte. Both locations are excellent but I'm partial to camp north end. They have a great selection of beers that they brew, as well as guest taps. They also have a wide selection of cans and wines available as well. Definitely something for everyone. Great experience here recently at the Lovin from the Oven bake sale. The brewery staff were friendly and helpful, even coming outside to let me know that my puppy was allowed in the big room (not the brewery room) if we wanted to come in, and offering to bring out a bowl of water. The area is under a lot of development so I am guessing there will be more patrons there in the near future, which makes me excited to see what new, fun beers they'll come up with! read more
