My sister and I came here for an event: Cirque Du Fehr. This place is a big open space, perfect for a variety of events. The whole place was decorated with a Halloween theme, and the dancers were placed in the middle of the establishment with plenty of seats surrounding the "stage". Although they offer free parking, parking is scarce. TIP: DO NOT PARK AT THE APARTMENT COMPLEX BECAUSE THE TOWER MAKES ROUNDS OFTEN. There is plenty of street parking and paying in their app is easy, just scan the QR code. Loads of wine and draft cider alongside non-alcoholic options. Outside food is welcome, just no outside drinks. TIP: Benny Ferrovia's pizzeria is right next door! Brewery also offers rental options for any event. Large space with great vibes. Visited on a Saturday early afternoon and there were three events happening at once, one was which was a dog adoption event. It's amazing that Hi-Wire opens up their space for events such as this. Hi-Wire doesn't have food, but their website connects you to the walkable restaurants where you can order for pickup and eat it while you enjoy their brews. Mrs. K. said that she was feeling "stir crazy" and suggested that we pop out for a drink. So we landed here at Hi-Wire in South End which hadn't quite started with the after work crowd on this week day. Plenty of seating and lots of other things going on including corn hole, pinball machines and a "kick ball billiards" setup. We ordered drinks, sat and watched a bit. Because Hi-Wire is snacks only and you can bring your own food (not drinks!), there were a couple of dogs inside and on the patio which was very cool. My cold Kölsch was delicious and crisp, Mrs. K. enjoyed her beverage and after a bit, I popped next store and got slices from Benny Ferrovia's for dinner. Hi-Wire was a fun, hip, and upbeat brewery! It was very modern, and fits the city of Charlotte very well! Even for the standards of a brewery, they have a huge selection of beers, and their staff is very knowledgeable of all their brews. The bartender gave me an excellent recommendation for a beer that I was looking for, and even provided me a sample of it before I purchased it. The ambiance was a lot of fun as well, and even though I went by myself, it seems like a great place to stop in and hang out with friends. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Hi-Wire! read more

Great environment. Plenty of activities for family--and some are even free (eg, ping pong, shuffle board). I enjoyed the beers too. The two issues I have is no food--not even decent munchies. Second, the beer dispensing staff working the day we went (Friday after Thanksgiving) were extremely slow and inefficient. There's no reason for a line 10 people long or having to wait more than 3-4 minutes. I could easily have dropped more $$ but they weren't set up to keep me there. From a business perspective, these two items alone could increase revenue and interest among potentially returning visitors. However, I will head elsewhere next time... read more

Attended the "Cirque du Biere: A spooky Aerial show" here and was impressed at hoe big it actually was inside. I didnt know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised to see lots of seating and plenty of space to walk around also. They have two bars. Main one as soon as you walk in and a smaller second one closer to the back of the building. They have outside patio seating as well and on a Friday evening they had two food trucks out in the front. This is located next to Benny Fravellos so of course slice of pizza is a MUST when visiting this location. Overall, everyone was super friendly and efficient. Th3 bartenders were friendly and gave great recommendations. Wouldn't mind coming back if in the area. I saw they have lot of cool games to play also. They do have a small parking lot in front of their establishment but if you come during peak days and time, good luck! There is side street parking nearby also but you do have to pay. read more

I like unusual places and since there are so many breweries you need to be different or unusual to stand out. Hi-Wire is different than the other breweries and that in itself is great. I love the big openness and the general feel of the brewery. Service at the counter is a bit slow but I know so many places are short staffed so I get it. The beers are good and they have trivia and fun things to keep you entertained. Parking is the only bummer. read more

This is hands down one of our favorite breweries in the Charlotte area! Since we had plans to come down here my friend gave me a gift card as it was a place on my list that I needed to try. The staff is so sweet and we came here three times during our short time within Charlotte. There are lots of options to choose from with a wide range of abv based on your beer type preference. The space is huge and family friendly as well. We had quite a few IPAS and we were enjoying each others company as getting well to know the brewery manager Katie that we never took pictures of our beers lol. Hi-Wire is one of the newer breweries to the South End area but has definitely made its mark! I love the open concept space with lots of big tables, great for groups! They have a ton of free games including connect four, corn hole, and a GIANT soccer version of pool!! The service was quick and everyone was friendly. There was lots of parking in the back as well as indoor and outdoor seating. I got the pink lemonade beer after trying a few recommendations from the bartender, and it was great!! I'm not writing home about this place, but I'm not writing it off just yet. I've been here a few times, even sat up at the bar, and I must say the service and staff are just mediocre. There have been times where I've seen multiple staff behind the bar and only one person pouring beer with a line of like 10-15 people. I've also sat at the bar with an empty drink for 5-10 mins before being checked on or asked if I want another. I've also never had an overly nice or excited person, which is always nice when you're not sure what you want and need some pointers. I like recommendations of beer when I go to breweries I'm not as familiar with and I feel like no one I've asked there has ever been very helpful on suggestions. Although, the staff and service aren't up there in my book, I do love the vibe they are trying to give off (great music) and diverse crowd of people they try to draw in with the very full events calendar. They have everything from dog portraits to run club to game night to aerial performances to cheese & beer pairings to silent discos... the list gos on and on, so when I say there is something for everybody, THERE IS SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY! Here's a quick hit on "the other stuff"... Bathrooms are clean. Lots of merch. Water is located on the left side of the bar. FREE PARKING. Ample seating, both indoors and outdoors making it great for all size groups. Love the bright colors and decor. Seats feel cheap and like I might break them (lol). The beer is just ok (in my opinion). I mean if you're in the area, or see a cool event they are hosting, definitely stop in! It's worth a try... and who knows maybe your staff and service experience will be better than mine has. Ever since I drove by this location, I've been waiting for them to finish construction and open up. Finally got to check out the new place to meet a friend for a couple beers after a long week of work. Full confession: big fan of hi-wire. Still remember when they started in Asheville and were a lean operation. I'm glad they branched out and have a location in Charlotte. Space! There's so much space, it is great. I think the competitive market for breweries in Charlotte have really fine tuned the taproom equation. Lots of tables and seating... different areas and a lot of things to do in a large space = a good time. I think I was initially drawn to the large soccer/pool table. I'm sure it's fun to pass the time while enjoying a delicious creation that the brewers made. Going to show my age and say that their menu with the large letters can been EASILY seen from near and far. I'm sure this really helps the people manning the bar serve people more quickly if they know what they want ahead of time and not having to squint and see beer names is super helpful. There's another "overflow" bar that probably opens when they are packed, but it's good that they've thought ahead and make the space as useful as possible. My only ding would be the area... yes it has parking, but the parking is shared my neighbor in businesses so I can't imagine what it's like trying to park. The photo diagrams on the bar showing where to park is helpful, but somehow I feel like a lot of people have been towed or the neighboring apartment complexes have complained about the business parking. Either way, parking is just a luxury now a days with Charlotte- probably not an issue if you can walk here, but for those of us that don't live in a trendy part of the city, parking will probably remain a factor when deciding where to go hang out. read more

Hi-Wire is located on the corner of Tremont & South Tryon; right beside Benny Ferrovia's/Three30Five Apartments and across the street from The Penrose. Hi-Wire Brewing offers plenty of space inside and outside (in the front and back). The brewery is both pet and kid friendly. The outside (front) facing Tremont has outside tables; the inside has bench-style seating/long tables and gives me a cafeteria hall vibe; the outside (back) has similar seating as the front but upper covering for protection from the elements. The inside walls are very well decorated with custom artwork. I am not really fond of how open it is because all of the noise is gravitated in one big box and the sounds echoes everywhere. It's great for big groups but if you want to go solo, you may not be too keen of the ambience. The beer selection ranges from American lagers, Brown Ales, American IPAs, Hazy IPAs, Seltzers, Sours, and many other styles, so they have something for every kind of palette of 'boozenthusiasts'. The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable about their selections which makes for a smashing experience. Hi-Wire Brewing does have a 'merch-section' for you to leave with a piece of them; hats, shirts, hoodies, glasses, etc...also, BEER-TO-GO. I don't think they have food there, but it's right next door to Benny Ferrovia (Pizza joint) and down the street from many other great establishments with delectable eats. All in all, I would definitely recommend Hi-Wire Brewing to my family, friends, and fellow YELPERS & Reviewers. I ran in to get my husband a couple of six packs and was pleasantly surprised at the vibe at atmosphere. Only down a star because I didn't get to actually stay and experience it. But I grabbed a couple of packs from the cooler no problem, the bartender was super nice and even double bagged my order because it was pretty heavy, people were having fun playing trivia and were able to bring in their dogs. I felt it was appropriate to come back and update my review based on my most recent experience. I first came in for a visit back when they were fairly new and wasn't a huge fan for a couple of reasons. The bright lighting, lack of audible music, lots of children running around some seemingly unattended. It just felt more like a cafeteria than a relaxing place to drink beer and socialize. That being said I am all for second chances and I'm not one to bring down a group, so when the birthday party celebration I was at wanted to move locations to Hi-Wire I happily decided to see if things had changed. To my delight things were far from what I remembered with my initial stop in. The lights were down low and the doors open so that we could enjoy the natural sunshine and beautiful weather. There was chill music being played at a reasonable volume to set the atmosphere. This finally felt like a brewery, a neighborhood spot where locals can come in, enjoy some quality beer, and be amongst friends. It was certainly a welcome surprise and I'm happy to see that they seemingly listened to early feed back and made the necessary changes to improve their business. read more

They have a great beer selection, my hubby was in beer heaven and he tried several different ones. I fell in love with this brewery on a trip to Asheville so when they announced they were opening a location in CLT, I was really excited! I stopped in for a beer and was delighted to see the entire space inside covered with artwork. It really pops and the colors are so vibrant. The space is huge and they have plenty of games you can play inside. They also have a spacious patio that you can chill on outside. They offer a wide range of beers, including my personal favorite: sours. The service is great and everyone is so nice any friendly. They also have a section where you can purchase Hiwire merch or take some 4packs to go.
