Honey mustard wings and fries
Nerissa W.

I was trying to find something new for my mom and I whenever I visit home. So this place was on our route home. You'll miss it from the outside if you're not paying attention. We walked in, placed our order and walked out in less than 15 mins. Drove home and the food was still hot. My mom enjoyed her wings so much that I couldn't even take a picture! Mom said she'll try here again and can't wait to try another flavor.

Queen City Wings is by no means a fancy place. They have wings (and fries) and they have a couple of tables. That's it. What more do you need? My daughter wanted wings and so we headed here. It's a simple storefront. The gent behind the counter took our order and we paid (Square) then took a seat. Our wings were cooked right then and there, sauced as requested and handed over. It didn't take but five minutes. One dozen buffalo and one dozen lemon pepper. Meaty, hot, the buffalo was hot and the lemon pepper was both lemony and peppery. We still had a few left over and the gent was happy to hand over a small box and another sauce for us to take to go. The sauces are packets - Ken's Blue Cheese Dressing and the like - but at least then you know what you're getting. As opposed to a what pours out of a giant jar at other wing places. Bathroom was bathroom. I just needed to wash my hands and not smear buffalo sauce on the steering wheel. [Review 10231 overall, 1819 of 2018.]

I saw this place on a couple of best wings list, so I added it to our list for team lunch. It won the vote last week, so I got to try it. This is definitely a whole in the wall, which I love. It probably wasn't the best place for a team lunch since it's mostly take out. They have two small tables with some extra chairs, so we were able to make it work without taking it to go. There are several things on the menu that looked good other than wings, but I had to get wings. My husband and I split 20 wings which came with fries. Typically, you can get two different sauces for 20 wings, but they let me get 4 for a couple dollars more. I got the Triple Whammy (sweet BBQ & spicy sweet and sour), All Purpose (Asian Polynesian with a kick), Crown Town (Lemon Pepper with Buffalo sauce), and Barbalo (Buffalo/BBQ). They were all quite good, but my ranking would be: All Purpose, Triple Whammy, Barbalo, Crown Town. I probably wouldn't get Crown Town again because it just tasted like Buffalo sauce. I couldn't taste the Lemon Pepper at all. I loved the others. They were unique flavors and quite tasty. The fries were my favorite kind of fries. They were battered, crispy, and full of flavor. We got our food pretty fast and you could get sides of ranch and blue cheese. Unfortunately, they only had bottled water, but I brought my water bottle with me. I'd definitely recommend checking this place out for some delicious, inexpensive wings.

Very unassuming place passing it but the customer experience was fantastic. Very personal and the person behind the register was prompt and professional. Food looked fresh and crisp. Definitely coming back again A+++

I am very depressed. This spot is only open until 6 pm. By far, the best wings I have had in CLT. I have been to all the big dogs wing joints, Yelp and Google will let you know what they are if you do a search. Some are awesome, some, not so much..........If you are a wing connoisseur and like big jumbo size wings, move along, nothing for you to see here. On the other hand, if you are a wing connoisseur and search the world for the ultimate, small, crispy, cooked perfectly wing, then this is your spot. I absolutely love my wings small and crispy, I want the meat cooked white. I hate wings that are shades of pink on the inside, just my preference. I talked with the owner and he said he has tried everything to get a night crowd and traffic to come in, nothing doing, the restaurant is kind of out of the way in a residential neighborhood. He said, by dark, the neighborhood is shut down and nothing is going on. Such a shame, I would love to chow down on his wings, with a beer, watching a football game. We got there at 5:30 pm and he stayed around and let us finish our 30 wings. We went with 30 wings - Buffalo, Triple Whammy and Crown Town. The Buffalo is very traditional wing sauce, buttery hotness with a very hint of sweet. The Triple Whammy is a sweet BBQ mixed with sweet and sour. Very unique, taste was great. It is messy and thick. The last, which was interesting, the Crown Town. Lemmon Pepper over Buffalo sauce, look at the pics, to me, this flavor was more of a dry rub. Great flavor. I really wanted to try the extreme hot, all purpose and honey mustard. The all purpose is very intriguing, I love teriyaki. I should mention that wings come with fries. I love the fries, extra crispy on the outside and soft and mushy on the inside.

Was headed back from uptown on a random Saturday afternoon when I had a spontaneous craving for wings, so decided to check yelp to see if there was anywhere in the area I hadn't tried before and lo and behold a place called Queen City Wings popped up. I figured what the heck why not give it a shot and after a short drive I found myself in a somewhat off the beaten path residential neighborhood called "Cherry" that appeared to be very quaint with lots of joggers and families taking advantage of the great weather. After entering the rather unassuming storefront, I was greeted by a friendly cashier who also turned out to be the cook as well. The inside isn't anything special as it has a handful of tables, a tv and some additional seating which gives off a very casual vibe (which isn't a bad thing, just appears to be more of take-out place rather than dine in). As far as the food goes, the wings were a nice size and came with fries which was a nice touch. To be honest, the wings were a little on the smaller side, but both the BBQ and Buffalo had good flavor, just wish they were a little bigger. Decided to get a couple of pieces of cornbread as it was on special for $1.00 and it had a nice sweet flavor and you could tell it was fresh and not fresh out of a box. The guy behind the counter was very personable and really seemed to take pride in delivering good customer service so that gives it an extra star in my book as far too often places seem to be lacking in service these days, but he did a great job of making me feel at home and welcome from the minute I walked in the door until the time I left, so I would recommend you give it a shot based on this fact alone as hole in the wall spots with good service are few and far between. Would definitely give it another shot and maybe try the Po Boy or the fish next time, but one thing is for sure, I will definitely get me some more of that cornbread!

Triple Whammy & Fries

Popped in to support a local black-owned business and I'm far from disappointed! Ordered the Triple Whammy to-go and everything was hot, fresh, and most importantly delicious. The service was quick and service was attentive. Social distancing and sanitation is in effect, which was much appreciated. I loved the personalized history on the wall, it's an extra layer of culture to the business. I definitely will be back!

Sweet & Spicy Wing Combo

First, it seems important to say that I, in no way, consider myself a wing connoisseur. I know folks take wings very seriously. I can confidently say this place in a gem in the Cherry neighborhood! I ordered the 6 wing combo that comes fries or onion rings ($6.50), for those folks that are serious about their wings for an additional fee you can get all flats or drumsticks. There are over 10 different wing flavors, I went with the sweet & spicy with onion rings. Honestly, I was kind of indifferent about the wings. The sauce was ok and the ranch was packs that I didn't really care for. However, the onion rings was scrumptious! They are beer battered and fried to perfection! My co-workers love the wings here so I'll definitely be back with them, but next time for onion rings and a hotdog.

Tidisha J.

Heard of this place before and saw some really great yelp reviews so I had to stop by to see what they hype was about. These are some pretty good wings y'all. They are little and crunchy. I got mine extra wet and they still were crunchy. The customer service was great and the guy at the front was some eye candy (don't tell my husband lol) and he was super cool. I'll definitely come by when I'm in the area or when I want some wings. FYI-this is a grab and go kind of spot.

Crown Town Wings and Fries!
Reena G.

Love the wings here! The customer service is great. All food is cooked to order, so expect a slight wait but it's definitely worth it (fresh and hot food, I'll take it). I stumbled upon this hidden gem, through word of mouth and it didn't disappoint. I think I've found a go to spot for my wings! I had the crown town and all purpose whammy sauce, both are delicious. Another great thing is, they have wing sauces I haven't had anywhere else (great difference)! I haven't tried anything else on the menu yet, but from what I hear you can't go wrong with any of the food items. Overall, great food, great service and the aren't too bad either. I'll definitely be going back!

Tucked at 435 S Tryon, this spot feels like stepping back in time while still enjoying modern elegance. The building itself is the star before you even sit down: a beautifully preserved 1929 Mediterranean Revival gem (originally Ratcliffe's Florist Shop) with original floors, red-brick walls and those stunning decorative Tiffany-style stained-glass windows. The arched ceilings and historic details make the whole room glow -- it's romantic, warm, and full of old Charlotte charm without feeling stuffy. You can literally feel the history while you dine. The menu has that perfect "olden take" I was hoping for -- classic fine-dining favorites done with fresh, New American flair. Think herb-crusted rack of lamb with rosemary jus, pan-seared Chilean sea bass, local shrimp & grits, or a perfectly grilled filet mignon; not leave out the duck, elk and emu. Everything is beautifully plated, and the portions are generous for this level. (Pro tip: add the lobster tail upgrade if you're celebrating!) Service was polished and friendly -- our server knew the wine list and the building's backstory, which made the night even more special. The whole experience felt special-occasion worthy but not pretentious. Whether you're coming before a show at the Knight Theatre or just treating yourself Uptown, Bernardin's delivers on atmosphere, history, and food. Easily one of my new favorite spots in Charlotte. The only thing I'll note is that the menu says it comes with fingerling potatoes and I don't think that's what I got. Not a huge issue obviously. I liked that the tables were a good distance from each other and the servers were very kind and knowledgeable. Everything was amazing and if I lived in Charlotte, I would be going here often.

We had reservations but it wasn't overly busy so I don't think they were necessary for that day and time but I would definitely recommend on busier times. I love the fact that this is more of a tapas style restaurant so you can order and taste a ton of options. Plates are generally around $14-22 per plate and they have enough for three or four (tapas style). We started with crab dip and oysters on the half shell (raw). The crab dip was rich and creamy and served with buttered crusty, buttered bread. The oysters were amazing too but a little nuance about these: they are listed by region (e.g. West Coast, Mid-Atlantic, etc.) and not listed as they type of oyster. Oysters vary greatly within a single region so I would encourage you to ask what specific oysters they serve for each region (they will look it up and tell you) to make sure you know what you are getting. We also ordered the calamari, small salad (unlisted option for the salad listed on the menu) and poke bowl to share. We went in hungry and probably ordered too much because this was all to start off. Everything was really good and worth ordering. For my "entree" or ordered the trout which comes with lentils and broccolini. This dish was fantastic and highly recommended. The trout was perfectly cooked and delicious. Our waitress, Tiffany, was amazing and did a great job. Additionally, this is the perfect spot for a "dinner and a show" since it is right beside the Knight theater. Parking is easily accessible at the Green Garage right across the street.

This restaurant is very nicely designed. It's visually appealing with tables indoors, a bar area, and an outside dining area. Seafood is expensive, I get that. But I don't know that there's much value to be had here. Portion sizes are small relative to what you're paying for. And in my opinion, while the freshness and the quality of the seafood may be there, the flavor is not. I have no doubt that the quality of the seafood here is good. But I did not enjoy anything I ordered. I wasn't put off by the food, but I wish I had wanted to savor each bit. I ordered the cajun grilled oysters and the miso sablefish. I thought both were too salty and despite paying over $40 for the meal, I left still a bit hungry.

I took a seat, not knowing what I was getting myself into at all. The menu is simple but delicious and seemed very fresh. I got the grouper. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. This restaurant is fancy but the staff is very personable and kind. To start off my meal, they gave me a complimentary bread roll. I will say, the bread wasn't the best because it was kind of stale, even though it was warm. I think it's just the texture of the bread that wasn't soft to begin with. One of the servers told me this restaurant will be changed into something completely different soon. Glad I got to try it when I did.
