The high octane tasted straight up sweet, so I'm assuming it was the raspberry scorcher (0/5 for that sauce), the brute was fine but I would have preferred at least one ghost pepper since that's what I ordered... I was excited about these because it's their own sauces they used, but it fell very short.

Their hand-cut fries are always on point too. But what makes The Yard really special is the people. Kai has created a space that feels rooted in Black joy, community, and genuine hospitality. He and Niy are always so kind, and every time I leave, I feel seen and appreciated. There are plenty of places to get a burger, but very few places that make you feel connected to a city. I'm newer to Newark and already feel that way about The Yard. I hope they're here forever.

We came for the Oxtail burger but on this day they were only making beef burgers, lamb burgers, and catfish sandwiches. The bonus, however, was the BBQ offerings in the backyard -- Mac n cheese, corn on the cob, fries, and plantains! Between the awesome cheeseburger and lamb burger, I was in seventh heaven. We had a great time sitting on the lawn and celebrating this glorious day with our brothers and sisters.

They were turning people away because it was so busy. The food was cold when it arrived but we were so hungry after waiting so long we ate it anyway. The chicken did have a flavor too it which was good, but got a little boring. The nice thing is that the chicken was crispier (but it was also less juicy). Pieces were smaller than other fried chicken spots like Popeyes. I ate 6 pieces versus the 4 I would usually have. No parking lot. Need to find a street spot

I ordered breast and wings, but they gave me breast and legs unfortunately.. I even called to confirm via phone that I will be getting breast and wings per my special instructions. The guy who answered the phone, said yes..but he still gave me dark meat.. I didn't really enjoy the dark meat, but the breasts were really good. The oxtails were just OK. Don't expect that Caribbean / Jamaican flavor from their Oxtails, you definitely won't get that.. their oxtails are cooked Spanish style and served with pieces of stewed potatoes (which I love, i'm a Potatoe head lol) and yellow rice and beans. Overall, I would definitely order from here again when I'm in the mood for some fried chicken.

I of course joke about the famed boxers relationship but I can confirm this Newark institution packs a championship punch where it counts. For decades, Krug's Tavern has been proving that a neighborhood bar with a small well-seasoned grill is sometimes all you need. Without any unnecessary fanfare, they've been serving truly exceptional burgers to Newark locals and hungry visitors from across North Jersey, and there's no sign of slowing down. I stopped in one afternoon on the recommendation of a friend who works for the utility company and had spent more than a few lunch hours beneath Krug's dimly lit ceilings. Within a few bites, it was easy to understand why the place has earned such a devoted following. The Shrimp Scampi may sound like an unusual order off the bar menu, but don't overlook it. It's outstanding and deserves a place on the table no matter what else you're eating. Better yet, ask for the house "secret sauce"--a glorious combination of the scampi butter and Buffalo sauce that somehow works far better than it has any right to. When it comes to burgers, the quintessential Jersey Taylor Ham burger is a must, delivering that perfect salty, smoky bite only New Jersey can truly appreciate. The bacon cheeseburger is equally memorable, piled high with crispy bacon and juicy enough to make napkins less of a suggestion and more of a necessity. Pair any of it with an ice-cold draft beer, soak in the neighborhood atmosphere, and you'll quickly understand why Krug's Tavern has become a North Jersey institution. It's proof that great burgers don't need gimmicks--just a hot grill, cold beer, and decades of doing things the right way. It's bound to be a good time, an IRONbound good time (I'll see myself out)

As a first-time visitor, I had a great experience. The restaurant was clean, had a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and the service was excellent. The staff was especially friendly and even let us sample a few of the sides before ordering, which I really appreciated. I ordered the fried fish with collard greens, plus a side of rice and gravy. Everything was flavorful and satisfying. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because I don't think the fish was actually catfish, which is what I was expecting. With that being said, it was still delicious. And I have to mention the cornbread...it was absolutely amazing! Overall, I'd definitely recommend Cornbread if you're looking for tasty, comforting soul food with great service.
