    Seafood boil
    Amanda L.

At Mad for Chicken, they now have an AYCE deal for $50 per person that includes all the chicken and seafood boil your heart desires! I tried that option so I could get a good taste of all their dishes! For drinks, I tried the strawberry mojito and the lychee-ade which were both nice fruity drinks to pair with my meal! For appetizers, I got some dumplings, fries, Mac and cheese and of course, some wings and drumsticks! Their chicken is so good - crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside! The flavor options are more of a sticky sauces and no dry rubs just fyi but the sauce isn't overwhelming! Then the seafood boil came out and I was in shock for only two people, this dish was loaded! I had to remove all the pasta onto two dishes reveal the seafood! The crab was probably the best because it had a good amount of meat! Loved that I could have all these options for this unique AYCE experience! But if you're not too hungry, feel free to order from the regular menu or just grab a drink from the bar!! The vibes is more relaxed and bar like - so grabbing chicken and beer could work too! And also, I saw past reviews about service - I think in general, service is a bit slow because there were only two waiters when I went but they always came to check on me even though I was seated in a back corner! I would just recommend for AYCE to order at one go so you don't have to wait as long!

This place is right next to Prudential Center so I visited it prior to a concert I was going to. Because I was alone, I sat at the bar and it took A WHILE for someone to actually give me a menu and then come back to take my order. I chose to get the avocado salad and their fried chicken legs. Everything was pretty decent (the legs were a lot lol) and I don't have any complaints about the food honestly. I just would encourage for improvements in their service time and if it could be made clearer if you should wait for a host to show you to a table of if you can just head in and sit down.

3/1/24 Since we were going to an event at Prudential Center and hubby had been dying to go here when he worked in Newark. We were able to walk over from our parking lot. Good thing because there was only street parking... Should have checked the website. This was more bar than restaurant... We were seated on high chairs (I hate them because I'm short!). Then we had to give them a credit card to start a tab, wth I'm not in NYC!? Anyways, we were already seated, so I gave them my card. Besides, it was too late to find somewhere else to eat... I tried to order their mocktails, but none of what I wanted was available... so I ended up with a Pina Colada. It was ok, a bit too sweet... As i looked through the menu, I realized it was Korean style chicken. So I began to have hope. LOL Kielbasa Bites were good My order of Soy Garlic Wings was so good! So crispy outside but juicy inside. I did wish there was more Soy Garlic sauce on the wings. The naked wings were good on their own, but I really wanted the sauce Hubby got the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. He wasn't looking for a sandwich. He wanted bone in chicken, but there were only wings that I had ordered already. But he did end up really enjoying the sandwich. The young lady was nice but forgetful. Had to ask her multiple times for boxes and check. We were getting very close to the event time and wanted to get going... Even though the chicken was delicious, I don't think we will ever go back...

Second time coming. The primary reason is for the wings, which are super good. Staff is always friendly. Great location, right by The Rock(Prudential Center) Certainly recommend coming as it is not too far from Penn Station.

I love seafood boils and couldn't wait to give this restaurant a try. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in and was greeted and sat at one of the tables. I was served by the manager Jay and Pelaiah, the bartender, and they were great. I started with the red sangria, which was good. I then had the appetizers of the kimchi vegetable dumplings chicken wings half and half with soy garlic and spicy soy garlic and the Parmesan Truffle fries. I really loved the dumplings the most! The wings and fries were also good. I lastly had the seafood boil that included the mussels, shrimp, and snow crabs and with the mixed sauce medium. It was delicious! I had a great experience all in all!

This spot is new in Newark (replaced Dino BBQ) - right next to Prudential Center. It's conveniently located downtown which is a short walk from Newark Penn Station and a short drive from Newark Airport. The only challenge with the location is parking. There are some street parking options and a few paid parking lots near by. Came on a weekday for lunch and it was quiet. They presently don't have the take out counter open next door like Dino BBQ did but they appeared to work with delivery services. They have a few lunch specials which seem small for an adult but everyone has their own appetite. 5 wings and fries for a drink for $10. They also have 10-piece wings which were good - two sauce options - soy garlic or spicy soy garlic. The bartender was nice. The ambiance feels like a sports bar. TV's throughout the bar and the other seating options are high tables and stools. Would be a solid place to watch a game. I'm looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu and drink options.

Located right next to the Prudential building advertising Korean Fried Chicken. When we got there, it was fairly empty but that soon changed as larger parties started to walk in after the hockey game let out. The server managed the incoming traffic by making a loud declaration that she is the only one working the tables and bar so to please provide her with grace and patience...in her own words, of course. We were lucky to get there before the crowds, but everyone seemed to get and have what they need and in a timely manner. More staff started to come in towards the evening. I ordered the soy garlic 10 piece bone-in wings which had a nice crisp. They have a pretty long bar with several beers on tap and multiple tv screens. I would return if I was in the area.

My favorite Chicken gem spot!! I've been here few times and absolutely love the food and ambience here! The service was on point n friendly. It's the perfect location if you need to get around the Newark area. Soy garlic chicken wings was nice n crispy and finger licking gooood as I expected. I'll definitely be back again to full up my fat belly .

I'll need to come back and review them again because this location is clearly still ramping up. They have a limited menu and it was a bit confusing to understand how to order. I think you order at a counter on the non-bar side of the building, but someone behind the bar took our order. Food took about 20 minutes to come out but it was before a Devils game so they were busy. Overall the food was really good! The chicken was in a sweet and spicy sauce. The dumplings were good but could use a dipping sauce.

We came for the Oxtail burger but on this day they were only making beef burgers, lamb burgers, and catfish sandwiches. The bonus, however, was the BBQ offerings in the backyard -- Mac n cheese, corn on the cob, fries, and plantains! Between the awesome cheeseburger and lamb burger, I was in seventh heaven. Shortly after, another couple came in and were told about 20 minutes. We were the only two parties waiting. When a table opened, the waitress began seating us, and the chef stopped her and asked the other (AA) couple if they were there first. He then told the gentleman, "I see you with family, and I'm not trying to start any problems." This was said while we were literally being seated, and nothing was said to us. It put us in an awkward and embarrassing position, as we would never intentionally skip ahead of anyone. As a Hispanic couple, the interaction also left us wondering if we were being treated differently, even if that wasn't the intention. Then the drink order added to the frustration. I ordered a hibiscus lemonade and my boyfriend ordered a regular lemonade. The waitress repeated it back incorrectly as strawberry, and I corrected her. About 10 minutes later she brought a strawberry lemonade anyway. When I said that wasn't what I ordered, the chef took the drink and handed it to the other couple who had just ordered a strawberry lemonade , saying it was freshly made and "they didn't want it." That was uncomfortable because I never ordered strawberry to begin with. Overall, the interaction felt dismissive and awkward. Mistakes happen, but the way this was handled -- especially the comments made -- left us feeling unwelcome. I hope this feedback helps improve communication and customer experience moving forward.

I of course joke about the famed boxers relationship but I can confirm this Newark institution packs a championship punch where it counts. For decades, Krug's Tavern has been proving that a neighborhood bar with a small well-seasoned grill is sometimes all you need. Without any unnecessary fanfare, they've been serving truly exceptional burgers to Newark locals and hungry visitors from across North Jersey, and there's no sign of slowing down. I stopped in one afternoon on the recommendation of a friend who works for the utility company and had spent more than a few lunch hours beneath Krug's dimly lit ceilings. Within a few bites, it was easy to understand why the place has earned such a devoted following. The Shrimp Scampi may sound like an unusual order off the bar menu, but don't overlook it. It's outstanding and deserves a place on the table no matter what else you're eating. Better yet, ask for the house "secret sauce"--a glorious combination of the scampi butter and Buffalo sauce that somehow works far better than it has any right to. When it comes to burgers, the quintessential Jersey Taylor Ham burger is a must, delivering that perfect salty, smoky bite only New Jersey can truly appreciate. The bacon cheeseburger is equally memorable, piled high with crispy bacon and juicy enough to make napkins less of a suggestion and more of a necessity. Pair any of it with an ice-cold draft beer, soak in the neighborhood atmosphere, and you'll quickly understand why Krug's Tavern has become a North Jersey institution. It's proof that great burgers don't need gimmicks--just a hot grill, cold beer, and decades of doing things the right way. It's bound to be a good time, an IRONbound good time (I'll see myself out)

So good. And they serve complimentary pickles and hot peppers on the side, which really sets it off. You literally don't even need fries with this burger -- it's more than enough. I ordered a whole one and could only eat half. My friend and I even said we should've just shared one! We started with the garlic fried shrimp scampi. The flavor was definitely there, though the shrimp were just a tad tough. I ordered a lemon berry Arnold Palmer, which didn't really impress me -- but I wasn't there for the drinks. I came for the burger, and I was more than satisfied. The prices were fair, and you get a small discount if you pay cash. They have their own parking lot behind the building (not the supermarket one), which is a big plus because parking in that area can be rough. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and I loved how everyone helped each other instead of just one assigned server handling everything. TVs all around, music playing, people laughing and enjoying is what you'll find here! It's kid friendly so bring the fam with ya! I will definitely be back. If you're a burger lover, I highly recommend this spot!
