Terribly slow service. We waited an hour for food And drinks! The waiter forgot our drinks and we had to get it from the bar after the food arrived an hour later. They were turning people away because it was so busy. The food was cold when it arrived but we were so hungry after waiting so long we ate it anyway. Unfortunately it seemed they were understaffed during my visit, I saw maybe 3 workers max with a full restaurant. We were seated within a few minutes, but definitely saw several parties leave before sitting and before ordering as it was taking too long. I tried that option so I could get a good taste of all their dishes! For drinks, I tried the strawberry mojito and the lychee-ade which were both nice fruity drinks to pair with my meal! For appetizers, I got some dumplings, fries, Mac and cheese and of course, some wings and drumsticks! Their chicken is so good - crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside! The flavor options are more of a sticky sauces and no dry rubs just fyi but the sauce isn't overwhelming! Then the seafood boil came out and I was in shock for only two people, this dish was loaded! I had to remove all the pasta onto two dishes reveal the seafood! The crab was probably the best because it had a good amount of meat! Loved that I could have all these options for this unique AYCE experience! But if you're not too hungry, feel free to order from the regular menu or just grab a drink from the bar!! This place is right next to Prudential Center so I visited it prior to a concert I was going to. Because I was alone, I sat at the bar and it took A WHILE for someone to actually give me a menu and then come back to take my order. I chose to get the avocado salad and their fried chicken legs. Everything was pretty decent (the legs were a lot lol) and I don't have any complaints about the food honestly. I just would encourage for improvements in their service time and if it could be made clearer if you should wait for a host to show you to a table of if you can just head in and sit down. read more

3/1/24 Since we were going to an event at Prudential Center and hubby had been dying to go here when he worked in Newark. We were able to walk over from our parking lot. Good thing because there was only street parking... Should have checked the website. This was more bar than restaurant... We were seated on high chairs (I hate them because I'm short!). Then we had to give them a credit card to start a tab, wth I'm not in NYC!? Anyways, we were already seated, so I gave them my card. Besides, it was too late to find somewhere else to eat... I tried to order their mocktails, but none of what I wanted was available... so I ended up with a Pina Colada. It was ok, a bit too sweet... As i looked through the menu, I realized it was Korean style chicken. So I began to have hope. LOL Kielbasa Bites were good My order of Soy Garlic Wings was so good! So crispy outside but juicy inside. I did wish there was more Soy Garlic sauce on the wings. The naked wings were good on their own, but I really wanted the sauce Hubby got the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. He wasn't looking for a sandwich. Service was awful! Never got greeted- instead, just side eyed, and was not acknowledged at all. Not sure if it's because of the concert and how busy it was, but you are open for a reason when there are event going on: more sales. If all your staff is pissed off because the restaurant is full, then hire new people or re train them. Me and my plus one were basically ignored the entire time, barely acknowledged. We even laughed about how ridiculous the service was with the other people sitting next to us, it was comical. We had like 5 different servers help us and not one of them talked to us, looked at us, just asked what do we want. Nothing more. Food was good though! Waited in line for over 30 minutes at the wait to be seated sign. 1 group of 2 ahead of us were seated, and no one acknowledged us or the line of people behind us. There were empty tables and when we asked about being seated we received nothing but bad attitudes. One guy was working his butt off while some others were slacking. Very disorganized. We never ate. I love seafood boils and couldn't wait to give this restaurant a try. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in and was greeted and sat at one of the tables. I was served by the manager Jay and Pelaiah, the bartender, and they were great. I started with the red sangria, which was good. I then had the appetizers of the kimchi vegetable dumplings chicken wings half and half with soy garlic and spicy soy garlic and the Parmesan Truffle fries. I really loved the dumplings the most! The wings and fries were also good. I lastly had the seafood boil that included the mussels, shrimp, and snow crabs and with the mixed sauce medium. It was delicious! Pelaiah was great at working the bar and other tasks even though the air conditioner wasn't working. She was friendly, welcoming and professional! I had the wings and a side salad and edamame. The wings were delicious and crunchy goodness. The salad was refreshing and seasoned perfectly. The edamame needs more seasoning; maybe some soy sauce and garlic and sesame oil, would help. Dined here October 15, 2024 before a concert. Unless something's changed, apparently on the night when there is an event, only the "Event Menu" is served. Ordered the soy garlic drumsticks, bulgogi japchae, Weihenstephaner Hefe and a bite of the spicy chicken sandwich. This spot is new in Newark (replaced Dino BBQ) - right next to Prudential Center. It's conveniently located downtown which is a short walk from Newark Penn Station and a short drive from Newark Airport. The only challenge with the location is parking. There are some street parking options and a few paid parking lots near by. Came on a weekday for lunch and it was quiet. They presently don't have the take out counter open next door like Dino BBQ did but they appeared to work with delivery services. They have a few lunch specials which seem small for an adult but everyone has their own appetite. 5 wings and fries for a drink for $10. They also have 10-piece wings which were good - two sauce options - soy garlic or spicy soy garlic. The bartender was nice. The ambiance feels like a sports bar. TV's throughout the bar and the other seating options are high tables and stools. Would be a solid place to watch a game. Located right next to the Prudential building advertising Korean Fried Chicken. When we got there, it was fairly empty but that soon changed as larger parties started to walk in after the hockey game let out. The server managed the incoming traffic by making a loud declaration that she is the only one working the tables and bar so to please provide her with grace and patience...in her own words, of course. We were lucky to get there before the crowds, but everyone seemed to get and have what they need and in a timely manner. More staff started to come in towards the evening. Was looking for a spot near the Prudential Center to accommodate a group of 9 - on a Saturday afternoon after a Devils game and before a Seton Hall game. After striking out at a few nearby places, I was so lucky to walk into Mad for Chicken and see a large table near the door. The staff was top notch and so accommodating as the rest of the group trickled in. We never waited long for fresh drinks and our food order came out hot and quickly. The rest of the bar was pretty busy, and we never felt like a burden or rushed. It worked out perfectly, and I will choose Mad for Chicken for future trips to Newark. read more

Huge portions for way less than the soggy fries and chicken at prudential but the staff needs direction, friendly but confused and overwhelmed. The chicken bowl I got was good quality chicken but a mess of Korean/mexican fusion that didn't really work. My husband's mad tenders were very spicy, ask for water asap because you have to wait for refills when it's a game night. I can't stand redds and prefer our other "secret " spot on game night. The customer service here is worst than a 7-11 in South Bronx. I have no idea where they get these people, but I don't think a single one of them has ever actually worked at a restaurant before. Inattentive, forgetful, and disorganized even when there's only 6 people in the entire place. I think the food is decent if you can actually manage to get them to bring it out, but thats an uphill battle. Keep an eye on Freddie Mercury behind the bar. Very disappointing experience. My friend and I just left the Devils game at Prudential Center, and we even left the game early because it was a blow out. We proceed down the street to this location that closes at 11:30pm and we stand and wait to be seated. The bartender finally comes over, and notifies my friend and I that she cannot seat us, however, we can order to go if we'd like. We are looking around and people are sitting and eating and drinking, and their kitchen closes at 1130, but you cannot dine past 9. It's very disappointing because there isn't another place like it right nearby...terrible experience. Terrible service, not accommodating whatsoever. Thanks for nothing. read more

If you place a to-go order, prepare for disaster. Issue #1 - I had placed an order for pickup, to be ready within about 20 minutes. I arrived at the assigned time and it took about 20 minutes to get an employee's attention. My order was still not ready until another 20-25 minutes passed. There should be no reason to wait over an hour for a small and simple to-go order. Issue #2 - I figured that was a fluke, so I tried again a few weeks later. Placed an online order for pick-up and arrived on time. An employee was on the phone tending to a customer so I waited patiently until they were able to help. Once I was able to give my name, the employee mentioned that they made a mistake and gave my order to a delivery driver a few minutes before I arrived. They offered me the cold, incorrect order that was still sitting there, and a refund. I accepted, because I was HUNGRY. Issue #3 - Having saved the money from their mistake, I decided to give it one final try two days later. I placed an order to be ready to eat right after I get off work but instead received a text message that it was ready for pick up nearly an hour early. I arrive at the restaurant at my scheduled pick up time and there's no employee to be seen for 7 minutes (I even walked to the back to see if I could spot someone). Finally someone assists me and I ask to speak to a supervisor about the timing error but the employee assures me the food was just prepared a few minutes ago--but it was absolutely cold to the touch. However, the employees insist that they are unable to issue refunds for online orders (despite me having been issued one the day before). I settled for having them remake it and waited over 20 minutes, only to find soggy and taped-up boxes with stale food inside. They did not re-make it as requested--they had me wait in-store while they simply re-heated the previous order I complained about. "Mad" For Chicken should not be literal. They need to get their to-go act together. read more

Don't go to Mad for Chicken unless you want to leave Mad without chicken! My friends and I were there at 3pm, not too busy of a crowd, for a late lunch. It took about 20 mins for a server to greet us. We ordered water and our lunch. About an hour in, no server in sight and no waters. When I asked the bartender for water her response was "I'm not your server and I'm going on break" ummm....ok. Nice way to talk to people. I then asked our waitress if we could get some water and asked how long our food would be. She replied "it's coming, I'm swamped" Food finally arrived after 2 hours. Well, half of it did. Our chicken salads came with no chicken or dressing. We kindly requested those and after waiting 15 mins we decided to leave. I informed the bartender and waitress we were leaving. And was returned with a nasty look. No apology, no "let me make it right", none of that. Not even a goodbye. Bad service, horrible people skills, just all around awful. Management failed and understaffed this place (it's a GameDay and like 1 of 3 places to get drinks and food)!!!
