Whatever your heart desires, you will not be disappointed! The Workshop was the very first…read morerestaurant we tried after moving to Benicia, and it's been our favorite ever since. Whenever we want to treat ourselves, this is where we go. Our go-to favorites are the oyster po' boy, brisket po' boy, gumbo, jambalaya, and the seafood platter--but honestly, everything is good, trust me. I've tried almost everything on their menu. Owners, Danny and Naomi, are doing it right! Danny works his magic in the kitchen while Naomi welcomes everyone with a smile at the window. Great food is one thing, but it's the combination of incredible flavors and genuine hospitality that keeps us coming back. We've recommended The Workshop to just about everyone we know. Today we brought my Auntie and Uncle and my uncle originally from New Orleans was impressed! I sat there excited to see his reaction to every bite! Well, they ordered more food to take home with them for dinner and Danny and Naomi were so kind to gift them their homemade cajun seasoning blend! And what I learned, there is a tradition in New Orleans to "give something extra" at no charge as a gesture of generosity and appreciation- well, there you have it, we just got lagniapped!! I love them even more!!! If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favor and go. This is one of Benicia's true gems.

Once the appetizers drinks and food was ordered. it took about 25 minutes until we asked for our food. well it came out as soon as they checked. The food was now cold and appetizers hadn't even made it out here. We cancelled the appetizers. Ten minutes later the arrives. Still denied them, we asked for another two cocktails. 30 minutes we decided to give up on the wait. Food is okay nothing to write home to say must come here. Service ‍ here can definitely use some major improvement. Lack of follow up and checking on customers. 1-10 rating I give it a 4. Trainers in the house let's help them out.

Unlike the Fairfield location, I have been able to get seated in a reasonable time at the Benicia location. They're popular, but not to the point of waiting 45+ minutes. I believe they're only open during breakfast/brunch times. Parking isn't too difficult if you don't mind walking a little from the main part of the parking center lot. The corner by Huckleberry's is often full. Ive been a couple times and the quality and service have been consistently good. Of the foods I'd recommend the fried green tomatoes and fried okra for starters. They're also one of few places offering beignets. For entrees the crab cake Benedict is good. The portions are filling. Ambiance is very casual. The utensils come in a little paper pouch and the napkins are paper towels on a dowel at each table. This particular location can look a bit dim. I think it's because of the direction of the windows. It's tasty and if you've been to Huckleberry's before you won't be disappointed by this one either.

From the looks of it, there are many locals who show love to this place because everyone seemed to know everyone which was a nice thing to know. Our waiter was very nice, I forget her name but she was such a nice lady. The food was amazing. You start off with a sliced bread thats warm straight from the oven and is presented to you with a secret homemade sauce that was super delicious. If you love garlic like myself, you will be scraping that sauce till its gone. We got the calamari to start with and share and I think that was the best calamafi I've ever consumed. I usually dont like the firm texture and fishy flavor of some calamari but this was super tender and super flavorful without the fishiness. A really great starter to share. We each got out own dishes and I got the Frutti di Mare. This dish was super flavorful and exactly what I wanted from a seafood pasta. Their mussels were HUGE though so I got kinda turned off from that (just a personal thing). Everything else was amazing and you also get a choice of soup or salad before your main entree which is a great format for eating. My girlfriend got the Pasta Gabriella and it was a VERY large portion. She said it was good but we both agreed there was a very strong bell pepper flavor. If you love bell peppers definitely get this pasta. Overall we had a great experience here and would love to come again!!
