The green chilaquiles were flavorful, and th beans at the bottom were a pleasant surprise. The mac and cheese was super cheesy, and the pita bread was a interesting accompaniment. The place was the sh*t. I've come here several times over the past couple years and it's more and more dead at the restaurant every time. The waitresses are absolutely dreadful. Every request is forgotten or takes 20 mins to arrive at the table. When we arrived we waited 20 mins for a waitress. We asked for some sauce, they forgot. We ordered a pizza, which was delivered to the wrong table. When we wanted to leave, the check took 20 mins as well. Now I have a crying baby and I'm waiting for them to try and split the check two ways and I eventually give up knowing that the task is too much for them to handle and just pay it all on one card. We had to track down the waitresses multiple times. It's like they have NO ability to anticipate the needs of their customers. "They ordered, pizza, maybe I should bring some plates". Nope! "They'll probably want their sauce before the food item is ICE COLD". Nope! Anytime we went into the restaurant the girls were on their phones. There were five tables in the restaurant tonight so there really was no excuse. I think this will be the last time I ever go to this restaurant. Unfortunately, the reputation of the old Congregation Ale House kept me coming back even when time after time, the service was abysmal, however, now that Congregation's former glory is thoroughly tarnished I can honestly say that I will not be coming back and I encourage everyone else to do the same. Quality like this cannot be tolerated. Travis, the former owner, would be ashamed of this fall from grace. R.I.P. Congregation Ale House

But I'm happy the food was just as good as I remembered. The beef rib melted off the bone... incredible. Their bbq sauce is yummy, a tangy, smoky, and a lil sweet. The chicken was juicy and had the delicious bbq sauce. I appreciate that they don't skimp on the quality of their sides either. The rice with gravy.. bomb! The corn on the cob... bomb! Overall price was really good for bbq and quality too!

I ordered the all day special for $23.99. Includes 1 chicken leg quarter, choice of 2 beef ribs or 4 pork ribs with choice of 2 sides and a roll. I chose the beef ribs! Not many restaurants have beef ribs on weekdays. These ribs were not dinosaur bones, but did the trick. I can get pork ribs anywhere, but to get beef ribs any day of the week? My kind of place! Meats were delicious and tender and covered with BBQ sauce. BBQ sauce was tangy and they have squeeze bottles of it to have at your table. Loved the mash potatoes and rice.

I really wanted to love Couwami Asian Fusion!…read more The small, family run restaurant cozily braided into a strip mall one block south of the 210 FWY on Azusa had piqued my interest when I'd ferried an Uber Eats order from there on SAT. Interest captured by the vivid scents wafting from the kitchen and the mostly positive Yelp reviews, I boomeranged back 24 hrs later to place my maiden order. I went with Shanghai Egg Rolls and the Yang Chow Fried Rice, but I'd asked them to substitute more chicken and Chinese sausage for the shrimp, as your favorite Yelp correspondent has never enjoyed shrimp in any form other than cocktails. The staff is exceedingly nice!!! Owner/proprietor JOSEPH and his wife skate around as balls of determined energy, but with welcoming smiles affixed to their faces. The prices are pretty reasonable- My tab for a generous multi-protein entree and appetizer was $19.34 including taxes. But can we please have a conversation about the flavors? Couwami partisans! Tell me-- Did your faithful correspondent order the wrong items?! My Shanghai Egg Rolls were undercooked, limp and flaccid. The flavors were solid but the texture was so off-putting and uncharacteristic for a typical egg rolls, that I could barely get them down. The Yang Chow Fried Rice was also undercooked- I'm used to fried rice that has a toasted, beigy-yellow finish with chicken or pork cooked to at least medium to medium well doneness. My entree was, as the picture attest, a faint ivory hue and I actually hadta toss it in my skillet for five minutes to toast up the rice and finish cooking the tendrils of chicken, which were served medium rare, a micro-degree above pink but with the unpleasant mouth feel of sushi. Not exactly the way you'd expect your proteins to be prepared! I'm a huge believer in redemption. And judging by the hundreds of 4.2 level reviews on Yelp, I suppose its possible I just caught the cook on a bad night or ordered the WDT (Wrong Damn Thing)...twice! I'd normally accord two stars but will bump this up to three based on the utter civility and decency that Joseph and his staff extended to me.

My boys became somewhat addicted to the Box Combo with fresh lemonade over the past couple of years. After every soccer or baseball game I'd swing by and treat them to a meal. We'd easily spend over $100 per week here. Yeah, it ain't cheap! About 2 weeks ago I ordered their regular fare at the drive-thru and headed home. After the boys finished their meals I cleaned up after them. When I checked to see if they had finished their drinks, I noticed something unusual at the bottom of one of the cups. When I pulled off the lid for a closer look I noticed wings on a tiny insect. I inspected the other cup and saw what looked like a small piece of pulp, which I assumed was from the fresh squeezed lemonade. As a courtesy to our favorite eatery, I called Cane's to alert them to this issue. When I relayed my reason for calling and asked to speak to the supervisor in charge I was informed they were unavailable but I could call back the next day. I suggested it would be better for the location manager to call me, and left my name and phone number. I saved the drink cups on my kitchen counter overnight so I could have them handy when the Cane's manager returned my call. The next morning I was disgusted to see several small bugs now crawling around the lid of the cup that had what I thought was pulp. The "pulp" was more likely a birthing sac for these winged bugs! So, I now count the minutes for the call from Cane's so I can share my disgust. Problem is, they never called. Gee, thanks. So fast forward 2 weeks and the memory of that incident is fading when my boys beg to go to Cane's after their ballgame. Yes, this is clearly an addiction. Since they both played great that day I put aside my disgust from our previous visit and get them their usual Box Combo only this time with a Dr. Pepper since I don't want to go near the lemonade again. Ok, here's where it gets absolutely F'd up. After they are done eating I clean up. What do I see at the bottom of the Dr. Pepper cup? You don't want to know!! I call Cane's and demand to speak to the GM. I am told to hold for Marguerite. When I express my concerns she assures me they keep everything clean. I insist on meeting with her asap to show her what "clean" is NOT supposed to look like. I meet her 2 days later on a Saturday morning and show her all the cups, which I held onto just so she could see what my kids had been served up. It's one thing to hear these incidents on the phone but entirely different when you actually see the disgusting proof. She seemed unfazed and asked me, "what would you like me yo do?" I informed her that I shared my experience as a courtesy, the kind of courtesy you extend to a loyal, faithful, long time friend. I suggested she inspect her chain of supplies from the fresh lemonade, paper cup storage, and ice dispenser. Two separate incidents with BUGS in my order is unacceptable. As much as my kids love Cane's in Azusa, we can never go back. With Options right across the street like Chic-Fil-A, Panera Bread, Popeyes, In & Out, Panda Express, The Habit, Cava, etc you must earn our trust and loyalty. That's right Cane's... we buggin' out!! ‍ Do better. Or not.
