Looks like I'm not the only one who's had a bit of trouble with this location... I've had delivery from this chain many times without issue, and the food has been excellent. Since moving to Cambridge, I've ordered from this location twice and the food has either arrived 2 hours later and revoltingly soggy or not at all. The drivers are rude (probably because there are not enough of them), the people who answer the phone are inattentive (probably because there are not enough of them), and it seems to take the cooks (probably because there are not enough of them) an unacceptably long time to fry a few chicken fingers and put them in a box. These guys have a good product. There also appears to be a great demand in this area for their product. They really ought to consider staffing themselves sufficiently to effectively convey their product to my front door. Sometimes my girlfriend is psychic-- it's often when I'm laying on the couch with a glazed over look on my face. No energy, don't want to cook. We always get boneless wings and choose the gooey flavors (honey bbq, honey mustard, sweet onion bbq) over the crunchy flavors (garlic parmesan, mustang ranch). They're super tasty and HUGE. Their delivery is always quick-fast (and free) which is rad considering that a thai place literally around the corner from our house took 2 hours to deliver one night. Im only giving it one star because, dont get me wrong the food tasted real good...I was impressed at first but about 20 minutes after eating my stomach felt real funny. I waved down the delivery man from the curb, and shoveled him money in the pouring rain. He handed me a black plastic bag and I turned back towards my apartment to see the door had closed behind me. "F*ck" After calculating my options, which were limited, I sat down on the stoop in front of my door, ripped open the plastic bag like Hulk Hogan devouring a t-shirt and calmly went to town on hot chicken wings like a feral animal. Shortly after I finished, another tenant in the building came home and saw me stretched out in the staircase, mouth and hands covered in orangey goo, a bed of bones piled next to me, french fry crumbs strewn about like rice at the most depressing wedding ever. He paused as he approached me. "Hey man, are you okay?". I thought about that question objectively and concluded that Wings Over Somerville, while satisfactory in every way, was definitely not worth being locked out of my house for multiple hours. Somewhere in Boston there are wings served just right. Somewhere between overbreaded genetic-freak-sized Hooters wings, and overcooked crunchy wing dings. Wings that meld the perfect balance of light crispy outside and juicy inside, with just enough sauce to complement, not overwhelm, the wings. Unfortunately Wings over Somerville ain't it. I've gotten takeout from here twice -- the second time because I was hoping the first time was just a mistake, a bad night, whatever. But no. I'm sorry, but the wings are consistently soggy, the sauce is flat, the fries are meh, and when you throw cheese sauce on 'em they're bleh. The service is OK -- enough to give them one extra star. They got the order right both times, and it came up fast, which I'll admit should be the priority for this kind of place. Honestly, this is one of my favorite places to order from. We always get both wings and fries. Usually I only go for bone-in wings, but the tenders here are so good that I will sometimes order them instead. My go-to flavor is the garlic parm, would definitely recommend it. Not a huge fan of the sweeter sauces. I think the reason so many people have given a low rating is that the quality is not always consistent. Most of the time everything tastes great and the wings are crispy, but occasionally they will be soggy or under seasoned/under sauced. They also keep changing which app the delivery goes through which has been frustrating. This is only reason I am giving four stars and not five. My boyfriend and I love wings over very much and will continue to order from them! We just hope that the consistency improves a little so that we are never disappointed when our wings arrive. read more

It pains me to write these reviews because my rating does speak to the food but rather to the poor service. We ordered delivery on a Monday night from Wings Over Somerville. We were told it would be about an hour. Wow, I guess they were killing the chickens right then and there, hence why it took that long? Anyway, we assumed the long wait meant the place had a lot of orders. Alright, fine. An hour comes and goes, and after close to 1.5 hours, we give them a call. The status of the order is checked, and then the driver is contacted. We are told he will arrive in 5 minutes. When I pushed on the wait, I was given then rather unsatisfactory response that "a lot of orders came at once, so it took longer." Um, if that's the case, then you go the extra mile to make it up to the customer that you misinformed about the arrival of his/her order. Well, the delivery shows about 10 minutes later. Here's the thing: the wings are actually pretty good, BUT we think they would have been better had they arrived at a reasonable hour. It was clear they had been wrapped up hot for awhile--condensation had collected in the box, so by the time we opened them, moisture droplets made the wings damp and sucked away any resemblance of crispiness. Not bad wings, but clearly wings that lost potential. We plan to try this place again will likely pick-up or else demand a shorter delivery time window. I went to college at UMass Amherst, where Wings were a staple of life for my 4+ years. The saddest part about my eventual departure was that I would lose so many good food opportunities. But! Now Wings, my beloved Wings, is mere minutes away from my home. And they deliver! And have online ordering, so that I may minimize all interactions with other humans (save for the delivery man, which I regard as a necessary evil). The wings at wings are delicious. I usually go for the boneless wings, and the level 3 hot sauce (Red Alert). They tend to really slather the wings in sauce, but you can also get the sauce on the side so you can control the amount of sauce (sometimes a preferable option, or if you're getting a bunch for a group, with multiple sauces). A side broiled ceasar salad $5.99 (in case you are wondering which I was, broiled means it comes with broiled chicken breast sliced on top) and a side macaroni salad, $2.09. When I saw that "Wings Over" was going to open an outpost in Somerville, I was pretty excited. There's one in Ithaca, where I went to grad school. You could hang out there, drink a beer, eat wings, watch TV. And for lunch, they had a wing buffet! Quite excellent. But the Somerville location disappoints in comparison. The menu suggests you can order for take out, delivery, or dine in. Umm, dine in? The place is super tiny - I don't think there's even a table. So, there's no hanging around and eating, nor is there a buffet. Boo. But are the wings as good? Sort of. The wings at the Ithaca location always seemed to be fresher -- these seem as if they have always been sitting around for a while in a container, which I guess they are -- but the Ithaca location managed to have them be less soggy. The staff? I've placed orders on the phone twice and it's been incredibly difficult. The first time, the woman put me on hold for almost 5 minutes before taking my order. When I arrived, she was talking on her cell phone, seemingly in an argument with her significant other. Yes, she made me wait until she was done on her cell phone before helping me. I really hope that's not why she put me on hold for so long. Second time, the woman (same one?) rushed me through my order on the phone. Second, they have a bunch of flavors...many of which I have tried but there are two that stick out in my brain as superior (discounting the tried and true Buffalo, which is quite satisfying): Honey Barbecue and my personal favorite, GOLDEN BARBECUE. I'm sure people are familiar with Honey Barb type thing but let me take a minute to attempt an explanation of the Golden Barb: it is awesome. It's a Dijon based Barbecue which I realize sounds disgusting and kind of like diarrhea on a chicken wing but I assure you, it's not. It is hands down my favorite flavor you can get here. You can order online, love it, and they're delivery service has always been ridiculously fast for me. It's like you order and 10 minutes later you are dining on hot tasty wings. I used to eat at Wings in Amherst. The Hangar is the best spot to have these now franchised out wings. These guys never fail to disappoint. If you order one of the combo packs they make sure to stuff it with fries and send you 6 or 7 wings when you've spent a cool almost $25. A lot of people haven't experienced the euphoria that is the original Wings, so they'll give this place a solid review. It's kind of like making out with the girl that makes out with every dude in high school. You're thrilled because you got a make out in and you're no longer the loser who's never done it, but you don't know what it's like to make out with the girl that only makes out with dudes who rule the school. You can't really go wrong here unless you order outside your spicy tolerance; all of the sauces that I've had are delicious. My personal favorite would have to be the Jamaican jerk. Ya, mon! Wings are great, my favorites are West Texas Mequite and Garlic Parmesian. They're usually quick when it's not football Sunday, and even then it's not that bad. They get 4 stars instead of 5 because they've messed up our orders and given the wrong wings a couple times but all around a good take-out place. read more

Horrible service. This was the last time I'm giving this place my money, and I highly recommend you don't tip until you actually get delivery. I was quoted an hour to hr & 15 minute delivery, and the order took 2 hours (for a regular order of boneless wings). After an hour and a half of waiting, I called to check on my order mentioning it had been out for delivery for a while. The person answering the phone might as well have just shrugged. There was no offer to call the delivery person, nor did he even try to lie to me to assure me that the order would be there soon. "It's on its way." Great, thanks. A half hour later, the delivery person calls me and tells me he's here. I come down to what is very clearly the front door of my apartment building and the guy's not there. I walk outside to look on the street and he's not there. I look for a car w/ a Wings Over sign, and there's none there. The hell? I call him back. For whatever reason this guy had been waiting on the corner around the block where he'd parked instead of just walking the 50 ft (max) to the front of the apartment building. I'm not sure if he was an idiot, lazy, or both, but it didn't matter. Never giving this place my money again. read more
