Stopped in for some food and a beer or two. It's close to my house. Admittedly I've only been here one other time but I can say tonight the service SUCKED. I sat at the bar. I got my beer inside of 5 minutes. They were slightly busy but certainly not overwhelming busy. Two bartenders, a male and female. only about 10 people at the bar. Both saw me looking at the food menu. In fact the male bartender even said he would be right over. Never came. Sat there for about 35-40 minutes. Finished my beer. It wasn't until that time when she asked if I wanted another beer. Neither one asked if I wanted food. Guy came in sat down beside me, they took his food order right away, not me. Just sat there hungry. Apparently you have to be a regular to get good service in this place. Had a guy step to the bar from a table behind me, male bartender called him by name and got him two more beers. So, got my check. Paid and left, went up the street to Food and Beer where I always get great service and should have gone in the first place. Left about 70 cents for a tip and that was more than they deserved with the service I got, or didn't get. I don't know if I'll ever go back. I mean it's within walking distance to my house and they do have great wings. But not sure if I'll ever go back but rest assured, I'll tell everyone about the shitty service I got if it ever comes up. Will my not going back hurt their bottom line not at all so we'll see. Maybe I go back maybe I don't. Probably not but who knows. I've read lots of the other reviews. They certainly don't have the BEST wings around and it seems the owner keeps repeating the same thing to reviewers he responds to. I've been going to this place for 30 years. The chicken wings have always been delicious and on target however the onion rings I think were boiled in automobile oil because they were pretty burnt and not good tasting. I tried Wings and Things yesterday. I bought their dry rubbed in 3 different flavors. So if you like a crispy, bone dry exterior coupled with a piping hot, super moist interior this is the place for you! Simply wonderful. The French fries were hot, but pedestrian. I would have thought they would have been seasoned. The accompanying blue cheese was robust in flavor and the iced tea actually tasted like tea. The waitress was friendly and punctual. The service was a bit slow, but one has to remember each order is created from scratch...no frozen stuff here. The ambiance is that of an older style sports bar...and that's a good thing. A lot of lunch patrons seemed to know one another, kind of like Cheers. When you're not in a hurry go there, I doubt that you will be disappointed. read more

Food always very good. I will say that although that the taco salad and the Buffalo chicken salad was very good, the onions were way way too many, and overpowered the salads. If they just lessened the onion amount I'd say they are excellent salads. Wings are great. read more

WINGS and a relaxed environment are what makes this place special. Back to the wings...seriously, if you are a wing connoisseur, this is worth checking out. They have the wing sauce that wakes up your nose and the crispy skin that makes you forget how fatty it is. All of it makes you enjoy the taste. The bar is dark, relaxed and non-pretentious. We came in last month and it will be the last. The kitchen is absolutely disgusting and will get someone sick if it hasn't already. When you walk by to visit the restroom take a peek at the kitchen. There is old grease is splattered everywhere, no one is wearing a hair nets & no gloves. The restrooms are disgusting. The restrooms are better at the local 7/11 gas station. I am concerned you will get someone sick as I was served RAW chicken wings. WNT has always been good but has gone down hill fast, but we will not be returning. This review is solely based on wings as that's all we ate. We came here a little over a year ago on their discounted wing night. We were on vacation from Utah, and it was recommended to us by a family we met who visits Sarasota yearly, and never misses a chance to get wings from Wings N Things. We were not disappointed. In fact, we are huge wing fans and immediately decided they were the best we'd had. Even our vegetarian child ate them! They were so good that we ordered about 60 then another 40 to take home and eat the next day for lunch. I don't know why this place doesn't have straight 5 star reviews. Best wings ever!! We are creatures of habit with Wings-N-Things so this review is basically a review of the Wings! In a word: Outstanding. We live about 30 minutes from them and while I know for a fact we could find wings closer to our home, we travel here when we want chicken wings. One tip: If you like a LOT of sauce, just order the wings and don't say anything. They will bring your wings in basket with about 1/2" of sauce in the bottom of the basket. The problem with that for us is that the skin loses it's crispiness too quickly (plus it's pretty messy). We prefer just a light amount of sauce on the wings and none in the basket. Their term for this is to order your wings "dry". They will not actually be "dry". They will simply have what I would call a normal amount of sauce on them. People who eat here all the time know the drill with the sauce, but new people might be caught off guard with the pool of sauce they normally bring you. This isn't a complaint -- just a tip for new diners so you go in knowing how to order what you really want. The french fry portion is huge. A small fry will serve 2 people and a large fry will serve 4 people. Don't over-order fries! That's the extent of our knowledge of Wings-N-Things. There's a LOT more on the menu. Best freshest wings anywhere around! Friendly staff and owner Mark who actually talks to his customers. Other foods plentiful and delicious. I went into this establishment today and when I walked in the staff just stared at me no one greeted or welcomed me that was the first red flag I sat at the bar and was given a menu by the owner Mark (which I later found out he was the owner) but I was asking about drinks on the menu but Mark was very rude and was acting like I was bothering him with my questions and was brushing me off so I just got up and left. I definitely would not recommend this establishment to anyone. The staff and owner are rude especially to people of color. If I could give this place zero stars I would. read more

I've been searching for wings for the last few days since I been out here and I gave up! I got the bbq wings here which the flavor was pretty good, but I got the hot wings and they had a very weird after taste. I believe it was the skin or chicken but it was awful! The bbq definitely took away the taste so I didn't notice it as much. They barley put any sauce on the hot wings and I've tried a handful of places recommended by FB pages and nothing got close to even Wing Stop! The public house I got to admit has got to be the closest to worth it as far as buffalo. The best bbq wings I've had here is from casa di pizza. I always try a place twice to see if I like different flavors but idk anymore. Good variety of sauces for the wings. This is a local dive bar but has good food!. The best is the French Onion Soup!. Very busy here even on a Monday. Three visits, kibitzing with regulars. Came for the onion soup and wings. First visit, beer and onion soup. Flavor, cheese, soup were good. Not the best I ever had but very credible. Only complaint - the bowl was only 3/4 full. Second visit for Buffalo wings for takeout. Wings turned out soft and not very tasty. Medium hot sauce? Threw six away. Decided I would ask for "crispy" and "hot" next time. Third visit for wings again. Gave explicit instructions for crispy and hot, not medium. This time they were closer to crispy and I didn't worry that they might be undercooked. Flavor was just OK and again the hot sauce was not very hot. Another problem with the take-home wings is the lack of sauce. Most of us expect extra sauce on the bottom so we can refresh the hot sauce on the wings. There wasn't any on either visit. Just the fatty sauce that leaked off the wings. I think they can really improve the wings by pouring a little sauce over the wings when they pack them up. After all, we eat the wings to get the hot sauce, don't we? How do they compare to the best wings I've had in Sarasota/Bradenton? 5 on a 10 point scale. Service was inattentive. They pretty much leave you alone and you have to call out if you want attention. Sort of like servers in France. This is an unpretentious neighborhood bar where you can drink beer and watch sports on the many TV's. Kind of a workingman's place. Not altogether a bad thing. read more

We had take out for lunch. We ordered the chicken wing lunch special, and upgraded with the tator tots. We also had the side of fried okra. We expected crispy tator tots, with a steamy center, crispy fried okra, with a good crispy crunchy crust. We wanted medium sauce on our wings, and napkins and wet wipes, and maybe a side of the wing sauce for dipping. Our expectations were not met. The wings were a good portion for the price, and well cooked. They were not coated in medium hot sauce. There was a little sauce, under the wings, on the foil. No side of sauce for dipping, no napkins or wet wipes. The tator tots were just cooked on the outside, no crispy crunchy coating. Just meh. Maybe the fryer wasn't hot enough? The okra had a thin coating that was not crunchy and yummy. We don't know if we will be back. The prices are good, but I'd rather pay a little more for a meal I love. read more

Wow! What HORRIBLE service! Literally comical! Not sure of her name, but a red headed bartender with ponytails working may have been the worst person I have ever dealt with! Where to begin... I live in the Gulf Gate area and did some research on where to meet a buddy for National Wings Day. We both wanted to try someplace new. I did some research reading reviews and this place sounded great! I then found them on FB and saw they're doing $.75 wings as a special tonight. 25 minute drive...seemed worth it! Sat down and asked if I could start with a water which was my first mistake. I had every intention of having a beer by the way! Then we waited a MINIMUM of 25 mins before she made it clear to us that she wanted nothing to do with us. I finally was able to flag her and ask if we could get some help. During this process, there was a barback who said he was new but we were able to ask questions of. This guy (he had bleached hair, didn't catch his name) was FANTASTIC! He answered all of our questions and sold us on a couple different flavors. Unfortunately he wasn't able to take our order. So we finally get her to help us (her job, right?!?) & my buddy asks about another flavor to what her response was, "I'm not a flavor, I don't know". What does that even mean?!? A different barback delivered our food and he was great as well! I had to ask him to fill my water which had been sitting out at the top of the bar for 10 minutes which if I actually got some service, I would have also ordered a beer. The wings were pretty good. Never got her to come over and ask how everything was so I guess no beer. Then the first barback who was mentioned came over to her and said the head of the table sitting at a table needed something. She asked him if it was the guy with long blonde hair. He said yes. She said she's not helping that guy and not dealing with him?!? I looked over at the 6 or 7 top and they seemed to be good people to me. None of my business, however, she made it my business as I was at the end of the bar and she had this conversation right next to me. She then conversed with the other female bartender that she will not be working for Wings Day next year...let's hope not. I also hope that includes everyday in between....what a miserable human being! So now the check. I thought about paying credit card so I could leave her a note on why my tip is gonna suck to her. I come from the service industry and tip very generously when I get great service. My bill was $8.03 and I purposely left $9 which felt like too much given the experience...u do know u work for tips, correct? Given the special itself, a great server would have received a $5-$10 tip on that bill. Possibly just a $20 left. Sooooo, as we are now walking out closer to closing 10:20ish, she makes the comment to us to. "Please never come back"...quote, unquote! Was actually impressed she said please, lol.
