takeout order - giant pu pu platter for 2, small soup, extra rice
    Kate S.

We've tried Wing Lee II in Portland before, but not very recently. So I was excited to give Wing Lee Prime a go. I regret that decision. We got the Pu Pu Platter for 2 to sample the apps, always a good strategy, as well as extra pork fried rice and a pork noodle soup. I personally found the apps in the sampler pretty inedible by and large. Chicken fingers - the first one slide right out of the batter, the second one behaved better but didn't taste better. Fried shrimp - very large, but not large on taste. Didn't like them. Chicken wings - not really my thing so I'm not the person to judge. Boneless ribs - way too oily and sweet, I couldn't eat more than a bite. Chicken teriyaki and beef teriyaki - both were edible. My partner is a veritable connoisseur of beef teriyaki and gave it high marks. Egg roll - stand out item. Extra long for some unknown reason. I found the taste unique compared with egg rolls at other places. Seasoned differently? Extra black pepper? Goodness knows, but I liked the egg rolls. Still, the amount of food in the meal was massive and I can appreciate the effort towards quantity here. I didn't think much of the soup. The meat was dry - in soup? How is that even possible? It's soup! The rice, which I'm getting to for my next day lunch, is perfectly fine, but nothing to write home about.

The shrimp with lobster sauce dinner was the most disgusting meal I have ever eaten. The shrimp are baby shrimp not deveined and all but three you could visibly see the poop in them. The rice was covered in the lobster sauce and nasty shrimp, that Other local places give you 4 jumbo shrimps deveined. The beef teriyaki was also disgusting like it had been marinating since before Christmas that it was an aweful texture, and the chicken fingers were still pink. What a waste of $20 oh and to boot a 16 oz bottle of soda will cost you $3.00

This is what Shrimp with lobster sauce should look like. This was cooked at home

I was passing through town and was craving some Chinese food. I knew I would be getting Americanized Chinese, but I've gotten good or decent versions while traveling. This has got to be the worse I've ever had. And I don't like to write bad reviews but this was I edible. I actually threw away almost a whole meal. I ordered the shrimp with lobster sauce with white rice, wonton soup, egg rolls. The combo came with chicken wings and teriyaki beef skewers. The egg rolls were the only thing I ate all of. The wontons were soft and mushy. They had been sitting way too long and the wrapper was mush. They do put a lot of fresh veggies in the soup which was the only parts of the soup I ate. The chicken wings were ok. Greasy but I ate one of them. The teriyaki beef skewers were so sweet, dry and overcooked. Another 10 minutes and you would have had jerky. I didn't eat them. The shrimp and lobster sauce was the worse thing of the meal. The sauce was brown and salty. That's it. The shrimp were the cheap small mealy type. The white rice was old and had had pieces throughout. This is not how you make shrimp with lobster sauce. It should be white. It should be a light flavorful egg sauce with minced pork. This was not that. I actually threw the whole thing away. I couldn't eat any of it. I just hope that they read this review and make some changes. I do hope that they succeed because I know how hard it is to make a restaurant work. Chinese restaurant life is not easy but they have to step it up a little. This was horrible.

We ordered the spare ribs, teriyaki beef, sweet and sour chicken, crab rangoons and scallion pancakes. The beef and ribs were so dry! The sweet and sour chicken oozed grease so bad we couldn't even taste the chicken, and the scallion pancakes had almost no flavor. However that is nothing compared to the "crab" Rangoon. These were absolutely atrocious! They tasted like fish! And I don't mean "seafoody" I mean like an actual FISH. I don't expect these places to use all crab and am aware most use an imitation, but this was down right unbelievable. Was it old? Idk I don't dare eat anymore. The cost was ridiculous. All this came to just around $100 and it all fit in a small bag. Granted, it was ordered on a third party app, but this was not worth the wait or the money. The only reason they're getting 2 stars is due to the moderately quick delivery, but I think this is more on the dash than Chia Sen. If I wanted leftover Chinese food I would order from a better, cheaper place and eat in 3 days from now. Buyer beware

We ordered the mixed appetizer plate, hubby ordered vegetable dumplings. My FIL and I opted for Szechuan beef while my MIL ordered beef with broccoli. The dishes came with soup and a choice of fried or steamed rice. The soups were served first which was a nice touch. The appetizers were flavorful and not too greasy. I couldn't give more than 3 stars though because the Szechuan beef is much different than the previous ones I've had. My FIL said the same thing. None of us thought the fried rice was good either. The restroom was at least clean. And we all got a fortune cookie.

It's a tad far from home in North Deering, bit of it's as good as I am hearing, it will be worth the trip. Menu on line was easy to navigate landing me at the "Dinner specials" page. A great variety of, more than some of the other places we've tried and way more than our local Chinese place. I chose the Straw mushroom with snow peas with boneless pork and hubby chose their General Tso chicken with chicken fingers for his appetizer. Both requested the wanton soup which is an upchargw from the other soup offerings. I really like the format for ordering on line with sections for different options like soup, rice, and appetizer. Most places you get the appetizer assigned and charged if you want to change it. Not here, you can choose! Yay! I arrived a few minutes after I was texted my order was ready. Signage was clear and easy to read. Ample parking in the shared parking lot. Upon entering you can see it is a take out centered type restaurant but does offer booth or table seating. It was a busy Saturday night and they had everything operating smoothly. Walked up to counter area and was greeted immediately, gave my phone number and name and my food was presented. Made my payment preference on line which included a tip, made sure to not double tip. Then I was off and running. At home I unpacked the food and was surprised to find the wanton soup was a deep brown color, unusual since most wanton soups are a clear yellow. Large sliced zucchini and carrots accompanied the hand made wanton stars. They had make them with the meat neatly wrapped in dough and remaining dough behind the ball like a shooting star with a tail. WOW! The taste was unique, on the spicy side with a taste of Thai chili sauce swirled in. Very tasty but too hot, my taste buds would have not worked for the rest of my meal. On to the Straw mushroom and snow pea meal with fried rice and boneless pork. Oh My!! So fresh and tasty the peas were numerous as were the mushrooms. Fried rice was excellent as was the boneless pork, it overly cooked and super tender yum! So what are ve heard is true and more. Sadly I could find no delivery options for this establishment so take out it will be.

We went with: Empire Eggrolls Lobster Rangoons Char Siu Baos Spicy Pork Belly Buns Pork Potsticks Shanghai Soup Dumplings Shu Mai Curry Udon Kung Pao Chicken Honestly everything was great but the stand outs for me were the Lobster Rangoons, Char Siu Baos, Pork Potsticks, Curry Udon, and the Kung Pao Chicken. First of Lobster Rangoons I mean how do you not. Portland Maine being Lobster Paradise this just makes sense and is a must try staple here. Just takes your normal Chinese Crab Rangoon to the next level. The Char Siu Baos where the best BBQ Pork Bun I have ever had. I know these can be hit or miss sometimes but Empire it doing it right truly the best I have had. The Pork Potsticks were also great. A top 3 dumpling I have had. I honestly wasn't expecting much but these were amazing. The Curry Udon was kind of a funny story. I said we should try this and my friends like me know it was vegan but for once that didn't bother me. This was great and so full of flavor. Plus you can't go wrong with Udon. Kung Pao Chicken is always my go to and this one takes the cake. The Chicken is lighty battered and so full of flavor. One of the best I have ever had. Honestly you can't go wrong with anything we had at Empire Chinese and I would 100% go back and do it all again. I'll end this review the way we started dinner. Lobsta Goooooonnnnsss!

The restaurant is small, relatively quiet and decorated nicely. The service was very friendly. The menu seems to be very focused, showcasing a handful of shareable plates, vegetarian items, rice/noodle dishes and entrees with authentic Szechuan flavors. Boyfriend got spicy noodles and I got braised beef noodles. We also got a side of their homemade chili oil, and in response to this the server asked us if we wanted our meals to be extra spicy. How could we turn that offer down? As soon as that bowl of noodle soup came out, I knew I was in for a great meal. It smelled intoxicating. It was the angriest shade of red possible, which is exactly what I like to see when I'm eating something supremely spicy. The broth and chili oil were both full of flavor, the beef was tender and the noodles had a delightfully chewy texture. Taking everything into account, Sichuan Kitchen served me one of the most memorable dishes I've ever had. There's really no other way to put it. If you're in the area and you find yourself craving the authentic numbing spicy flavors of Szechuan Chinese food, Sichuan Kitchen is the answer.
