I'm 71 & grew up in Sharon MA eating this same style cantonese chinese food as far back as I remember (9 years old). Every know & then I get an urge for egg foo yung among a few other favorites like bone in spare ribs which I can't seem to find at any asian restaurants. If you have suggestions on where to get bone in wings please let me know. The food at Wing Lee is old fashioned cantonese so in essence it's very different than current asian cooking that seems to be more the norm. Now & then I'm in the mood!!! We've tried Wing Lee II in Portland before, but not very recently. So I was excited to give Wing Lee Prime a go. I regret that decision. We got the Pu Pu Platter for 2 to sample the apps, always a good strategy, as well as extra pork fried rice and a pork noodle soup. I personally found the apps in the sampler pretty inedible by and large. Chicken fingers - the first one slide right out of the batter, the second one behaved better but didn't taste better. Fried shrimp - very large, but not large on taste. Didn't like them. Chicken wings - not really my thing so I'm not the person to judge. Boneless ribs - way too oily and sweet, I couldn't eat more than a bite. Chicken teriyaki and beef teriyaki - both were edible. My partner is a veritable connoisseur of beef teriyaki and gave it high marks. Egg roll - stand out item. Extra long for some unknown reason. I found the taste unique compared with egg rolls at other places. Seasoned differently? Extra black pepper? Goodness knows, but I liked the egg rolls. Still, the amount of food in the meal was massive and I can appreciate the effort towards quantity here. I didn't think much of the soup. The meat was dry - in soup? How is that even possible? A bit of a ride for take out but worth the ride. We had MooShoo, Chicken Chow Mein And Hot and Sour Soup with Wontons. Non of these dishes were typical of what we've had. They were all very fresh. The shrimp with lobster sauce dinner was the most disgusting meal I have ever eaten. The shrimp are baby shrimp not deveined and all but three you could visibly see the poop in them. The rice was covered in the lobster sauce and nasty shrimp, that Other local places give you 4 jumbo shrimps deveined. The beef teriyaki was also disgusting like it had been marinating since before Christmas that it was an aweful texture, and the chicken fingers were still pink. I was passing through town and was craving some Chinese food. I knew I would be getting Americanized Chinese, but I've gotten good or decent versions while traveling. This has got to be the worse I've ever had. And I don't like to write bad reviews but this was I edible. I actually threw away almost a whole meal. I ordered the shrimp with lobster sauce with white rice, wonton soup, egg rolls. The combo came with chicken wings and teriyaki beef skewers. The egg rolls were the only thing I ate all of. The wontons were soft and mushy. They had been sitting way too long and the wrapper was mush. They do put a lot of fresh veggies in the soup which was the only parts of the soup I ate. The chicken wings were ok. Greasy but I ate one of them. The teriyaki beef skewers were so sweet, dry and overcooked. Another 10 minutes and you would have had jerky. I didn't eat them. The shrimp and lobster sauce was the worse thing of the meal. The sauce was brown and salty. That's it. The shrimp were the cheap small mealy type. The white rice was old and had had pieces throughout. This is not how you make shrimp with lobster sauce. It should be white. It should be a light flavorful egg sauce with minced pork. This was not that. I actually threw the whole thing away. I couldn't eat any of it. I just hope that they read this review and make some changes. I do hope that they succeed because I know how hard it is to make a restaurant work. Chinese restaurant life is not easy but they have to step it up a little. This was horrible. read more

Before heading back to NH, I decided to pick up dinner at Wing Lee (formerly Dunstan Corner Pizza), which is located in small strip plaza (Dunstan Plaza) across the road from Rock & Roll Diner. This very casual Chinese restaurant is owned and operated by the Lee family with the kids also helping out. Wing Lee is order at the counter with an open ktichen and there are a few tables for eating in. They offer the standard Chinese menu including Szechuan and curry dishes. 28 Lunch Specials ($5.50 plus tax) with pork fried rice are served ALL DAY with no upcharges (a definite big plus in my book!), as well as 20 Combination Dinners ($8.25 plus tax) and 5 Children's Plates ($3.75-$4.50). The lo mein was tasty and not salty, which had firm noodles with a mix of carrots, sprouts, fresh mushrooms, snow peas, water chestnuts, onions, and a good amount of tender shrimp. The pork fried rice (light brown color) (scooped from a big pot) had onions & tender roast pork pieces with some fat. The 6 steamed dumplings were thick with a ground pork filling inside, soy sauce for dipping. Overall, I enjoyed my dinner. Here's the thing: is it genuine Chinese cuisine? of course not - this is Americanized szechuan-inspired Chinese food. Come into this establishment expecting genuine Chinese and you will be disappointed. Come in ready to grub and you'll be stoked. We grew up eating a very specific type of 'Chinese' food and during my years of living all over this country I have never been able to find a replacement for that establishment or the food they provided - until Wing Lee. I know that when we get Wing Lee I can expect pork fried rice which is brown with soy sauce used in its cooking - no peas up in there. I know that the crab rangoon will be a delightful pocket of cream cheese with the smallest bits of imitation crab that you can imagine. Sweet and sour chicken you say? Well, that's just white breast meat in a puffy deep-fried dough that you'll smother in duck sauce. Boneless spareribs are a freaking delight - is it rib meat? Who knows, but also who cares? The beef teriyaki (or as my nephew calls it meat-on-a-stick) is sweet, tender and will absolutely get stuck in your teeth. The lo mein is delightful, beef and broccoli is salty, egg fu young is... well who really even knows what it is? What I DO know is that I could eat my weight in their egg rolls and that's what's most important to me. The place is in a plaza, it's not fancy, the tables are usually greasy, there's a random fish tank, horrible curtains, and no decor to speak of....but you can see into the kitchen so you know there isn't too much shadiness going down. You can call ahead and pick it up, or have it delivered - YES THEY DELIVER. They freaking deliver. We get a shit-ton of food to feed 5 adults and two children multiple meals for precisely $99.63 and we're all super stoked about it. The orange chicken was absolutely disgusting the batter and sauce was so mushy, almost like the chicken is battered sauced and then thrown in a pot to cook all day. Excited to discover this place. This is the only good American Chinese food that we've had in Maine since moving here from NYC. Stick to the classics. The Szechuan chicken is great (aka king poa) as is the lo mein and scallion pancakes. The tofu dish is also very good and made with fresh tofu and cones with lots of vegetables. I'm new to the area and I've wanted to try out spots around Saco/Old Orchard for Chinese food. This was my first spot I've tried so I can't compare what's around but I may not look elsewhere after my experience! I read others reviews and wanted to try it out on my own; ordered food on a Wednesday around 5PM and to my surprise I was given a 15 minute pickup estimate (thought it'd be a longer wait!) I ordered a Dinner Combo (no. 18 General Tso Chicken) and a side of the infamous egg rolls per others reviews. The portion sizes as were mentioned are huge! My whole order didn't fit inside the container; the chicken fingers and crab Rangoon included in the combo were in a separate bag which was a first for me. I included photos and the egg rolls are next to a regular household fork. Now you want to know how the food tastes right? I've honestly have had better tasting food, but what stood out to me was the quantity of the food for the overall price. I'm by myself so I'm going to have leftovers for two or even three portions with everything I ordered. If you want Chinese food, this honestly will do the job. I'd give food taste a 3 out of 5 stars but again, that's not a knock on the place I've just had better tasting experiences. This is just a simple, no frills Chinese food establishment that I'd order from again especially for a group of family or friends. If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. Half the time I order from here I get home and we are either missing food or it's wrong. Tonight takes the cake though. We found HAIR IN OUR FOOD!!! There were multiple strands of hair in the vegetable lo mein and a CLUMP of hair in the crab rangoons! A clump!!!!!! It was so disgusting I nearly threw up. Needless to say, we threw out ALL the food we bought- 40.00$ worth. I called the restaurant and spoke to the owner about what happened and she refuses to refund my money, screaming "that would never happen." Screaming at me! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
